April 22, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 118 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to parsing the annual Pittsburgh Steelers pre-draft press conference that took place earlier in the day. We go over the main takeaways from what all Steelers GM Omar Khan and HC Mike Tomlin said and didn't say on Monday as the team makes their final preparations for the 2024 NFL Draft, which will get underway Thursday night. We talk about Tomlin's comments on his pro day actions, the team possibly selecting a quarterback in the later rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft and much more. We also go over the loose health updates that were given on CB Cory Trice Jr. and ILB Cole Holcomb on Monday. How likely is it that the Steelers will trade down in the first round Thursday night based on what Khan said on Monday? We make sure to deep dive into that topic once again in this episode. Did Khan or Tomlin say anything on Monday that influenced any of our current thoughts on what may or may not happen during the 2024 NFL Draft? We have that discussion briefly. Former LSU WR Brian Thomas Jr. is seemingly being linked as the Steelers possible first round selection to start this week, so we discuss those major media rumblings later on in this Monday show. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 75-minute episode, and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. April 19, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 117 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about his livestreamed mock draft Thursday night and how he did a great job of overcoming it going off the rails in several areas. With the 2024 NFL Draft now less than a week away, Alex and I discuss the conundrum the Pittsburgh Steelers are likely to have in the first round when it comes to them possibly needing to pick between the tackle and center positions. We discuss which position is really the greatest need of the two and how the rest of the draft could become really messy should a tackle be chosen in the first round. Alex has completed a few more ‘What The Steelers Look For' studies since our last show and so we discuss the results uncovered when he addressed the inside linebacker and interior offensive linemen positions. How soon should the Steelers address the cornerback position in this year's draft? Could Michigan CB Mike Sainristil slide to 84th overall due to his height? If he doesn't, which cornerback that fits in the slot might still be on the board come the 84th overall selection? How big of need is defensive line and inside linebacker in this year's draft and might one or both positions be addressed within the first four picks? We discuss that topic some during this show. Steelers CB Cory Trice Jr. seems to be on track to participate in the team's rookie minicamp this year, so we talk a little bit about his prospects moving forward into the summer. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 97-minute episode, and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. April 17, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 116 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to the big news from Tuesday, which was former Duke OL Graham Barton finally having a pre-draft visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers. We discuss what a big deal that is when it comes to him potentially being the team's first round draft pick this year. North Carolina State LB Payton Wilson was also in for a pre-draft visit on Tuesday, so Alex and I discuss him a bit as well. Later in the show, Alex and I go over the three players who were brought in for pre-draft visits on Wednesday. Is former Washington OL Troy Fautanu a tackle or guard at the NFL level? Alex and I discuss that topic during the show and mainly due to his height versus arm length. We discuss him potentially being a center convert like Barton should the Steelers ultimately draft him. Alex has started his annual "What The Steelers Look For" studies when it comes to the NFL Draft and specific positions and with him now completing the wide receiver and defensive end positions for 2024, we look at what his results show. We also discuss the lack of players doing all of the drills throughout the pre-draft process and what that might mean for Alex's studies moving forward. As part of the wide receiver box checking, I attempt to build the list out even more at that position based on projections. More betting odds concerning several draft prospects have started to surface so we mix a few of those into our Wednesday podcast episode. We make a quick run through of the Steelers' 2024 pre-draft visitor list as it sits right now. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 109-minute episode, and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. April 15, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 115 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, which was recorded late Sunday evening, Alex Kozora and I go over his Sunday post which recapped the “Blue's Clues” related to the Pittsburgh Steelers and their possible first round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. We discuss the short list of players that qualify to be the Steelers first round draft pick this year based solely on GM Omar Khan and HC Mike Tomlin being present at their respective pro days. We spend extra time discussing if one of three Alabama products on the list could wind up being Pittsburgh's first round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Alex and I also discuss which players have the best chance of breaking the Khan/Tomlin pro day attendance streak this year. San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk was back in the news because of something his agent tweeted on Sunday, and we tell you why. We also discuss the Steelers' biggest hurdles to get over when it comes to them possibly trading for one of Aiyuk or Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins. Alex has started his annual "What The Steelers Look For" studies when it comes to the NFL Draft and specific positions and with his post on the tackle now up on the site, we review what the data says. We discuss the two tacklers the Steelers seem most likely to draft after the first round if they fail to address the position with their first selection. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 70-minute episode, and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. April 12, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 114 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers signing free agent K Matthew Wright on Wednesday. We go over what Wright's addition means, his contract, and much more. We also look at the available 2024 salary cap space the Steelers have after signing Wright. The Steelers have had several more players in for pre-draft visits since our Wednesday show, so Alex and I recap all of that news and much more as this part of the offseason comes to a close. Are you ready for a long discussion about centers and the 2024 NFL Draft? We hope so because Alex and I discuss everything related to the top three ranked centers in this draft class, Graham Barton, Jackson Powers-Johnson, and Zach Frazier. Should teams be looking at Barton as a guard? Are the Dallas Cowboys destined to select one of Barton or Powers-Johnson in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft? Who else needs a center in the first two rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft? We attempt to answer those questions in this show. Will the Steelers ultimately need to trade up in the second round to secure one of Barton, Powers-Johnson, or Frazier? We address that question and look at one plausible trade scenario in this show. We go over several historical aspects related to the center position and NFL Drafts during this show as well. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 109-minute episode, and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. April 10, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 113 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the New York Giants signing former Pittsburgh Steelers WR Miles Boykin on Tuesday. That discussion focuses on the Steelers now having lost their two special teams gunners so far this offseason in Boykin and CB James Pierre. The Steelers keep adding to their pre-draft visitor list, so we talk about the most recent players visiting Pittsburgh. We spend a lot of time talking about former Texas WR Adonai Mitchell and where he ranks in this year's draft class at the position and if he could be in play as the 20th overall selection. Later in the show, we discuss the Steelers having former Oregon C Jackson Powers-Johnson in on Wednesday as one of their two pre-draft visitors and the significance of that happening. Alex and I go over the contract details related to new Steelers TE MyCole Pruitt and where that leaves the team at in terms of available 2024 salary cap space. We also discuss the redistribution of cash the Steelers have had since early February as part of their offseason roster reshaping. Alex and I have a spirited discussion about the possibility of the Steelers signing RB Jaylen Warren to a contract extension this offseason and what a new average per year amount might look like if they do. With Wednesday being the release of the annual Dane Brugler draft guide on The Athletic, Alex and I dive into some of his positional rankings in this show. We focus on the center, tackle, wide receiver, defensive tackle, and cornerback positions when it comes to Brugler's draft guide in relation to the Steelers needs. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 111-minute episode, and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. April 8, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 112 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking former Rutgers CB Max Melton reportedly having a pre-draft visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. We discuss how he would fit in with the Steelers and how we have yet to find anyone from the organization at his pro day. We talk about the Steelers possibly double-dipping at the cornerback position in this year's draft. The Steelers have seemingly shown quite a bit of interest in former Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley throughout the pre-draft process, so we discuss what the tape and analytics say about him and his potential fit in Pittsburgh. Will the Steelers trade up or down in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft? Alex and I discuss those possibilities in this show and go over the history of first round trades made by the Steelers dating back to 2000. We also talk about which round in this year's draft that the Steelers are most likely to trade up in and why. Former Ferris State CB Shon Stephens will reportedly come to Pittsburgh for a pre-draft visit, so Alex and I discuss the cousin of CB Jory Porter Jr. just a little in this show. We also discuss slot cornerback options for the Steelers in this year's draft and the five primary players we think the team might target. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 68-minute episode, and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. April 5, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 111 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the new show we have developed and released for the site that is hosted by Joe Clark and Ross McCorkle. We move on to discuss the Pittsburgh Steelers agreeing to terms with TE MyCole Pruitt, formerly of the Atlanta Falcons. We discuss Pruitt's 2023 tape, his fit in Pittsburgh and his previous associations with new OC Artur Smith and more. Will the Steelers really carry four tight ends, three running backs and five wide receivers as part of their 2024 53-man roster? We discuss that topic along with the team again likely to carry three quarterbacks. The Steelers had three more pre-draft visitors in on Thursday and that list was headlined by former Clemson CB Nate Wiggins. We discuss those three players and the possibility of Wiggins being the Steelers first round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. We have more talk about former Duke OL Graham Barton in this show and that is because I went back and watched two games of his at center from the 2020 season since our last show. We discuss what that tape showed and much more related to Barton, who seems very much in the mix to be drafted by the Steelers this year. The new Steelers players now have their new jersey numbers so Alex and I run down that list. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 90-minute episode, and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. April 3, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 110 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking more about the recent visitors that the Pittsburgh Steelers have had this week. Most of those are draft related visitors with one other being a free agent inside linebacker. We go over the full list of visitors, what they all likely mean and much more. Alex released his most recent mock draft a few days ago so we tear through that pick-by-pick. We spend extra time on his first-round player, Duke OL Graham Barton, as we finally get around to having a longer discussion on him. Alex and I discuss the NFL's Performance-Based Pay program in this show and how I have spent way too much time trying to reverse engineer the formula for that and why. We also take time in this show to discuss the outlook for the Steelers when it comes to them potentially receiving any compensatory draft picks next offseason. We also talk about the contract details related to the team's four most recent signings and where the Steelers now sit salary cap wise for 2024 on this Wednesday. Will the Steelers sign one or both of their top two running backs to contract extensions this offseason? We address the situations and plausibility of that happening for Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren quite thoroughly. We quick go over the Wednesday pre-draft visitors the Steelers now have in Pittsburgh and also discuss the Wednesday breaking news of the Buffalo Bills trading WR Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. April 1, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 109 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking more about the recent Big 12 pro day and specifically, the results that former West Virginia C Zach Frazier turned in. We discuss Frazier's draft stock at this point in the offseason. Where will the Steelers select a center in this year's draft, and do they run the risk of missing out on one of the top three if they don't select one in the first round? We talk about that topic some and both still wonder if the team might add a veteran center to their roster ahead of the draft. Alex took part in the annual Walk the Mock draft over the weekend, so we discuss that two-round exercise and who he wound up selecting for the Steelers with the two picks. Where has Steelers defensive backs coach Grady Brown been throughout the pro day cycle and is it concerning that we have yet to spot him at any colleges so far through our deep examinations? Alex and I discuss the updated pro day and pre-draft visitor trackers on this Monday. We discuss what stood out in the recent play-by-play contextualizations that I posted that revolve around the 2023 touchdown passes thrown by the Steelers top new quarterbacks, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 73-minute episode, and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. March 29, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 108 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Thursday report that indicated the Pittsburgh Steelers have a pre-draft visit scheduled with former Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. We go over why maybe Penix is being brought in, the chances of the Steelers selecting him in the 2024 NFL Draft and more. The Steelers continue to be busy on the pro draft trail, so Alex and I discuss where all we have spotted members of the team's personnel the last few days. We talk specifically about where several coordinators and position coaches have been spotted the last few days and who they likely went to see, specifically. Is former Duke OL Graham Barton being overrated or underrated so far during the pre-draft process and would the Steelers seriously consider selecting him in the first round at 20th overall without GM Omar Khan and HC Mike Tomlin not being present at his Thursday pro day? The Steelers certainly seem destined to select an inside linebacker at some point during this year's draft and we tell you why we both believe that. Alex and I take time in this show to recap the logical and legitimate first round selection candidates so far based on all of the usual clues the team has given as far as pro days go. It's a short list overall, and it seems like former Georgia OT Amarius Mims is the proverbial leader in the clubhouse at this point. We also explain why we will be looking closely at the Big 12 pro day sessions that remain on the calendar this week. Have the Steelers' collective actions so far since the start of the new league been overrated? Have they spent as much collective cash as we thought they might? We discuss those topics a little bit in this show. March 27, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 107 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to the big news on Tuesday concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers agreeing to terms with KR/RB Cordarrelle Patterson on a two-year, $6 million contract. We discuss the timing of Patterson's signing related to the new kickoff rule being passed on Tuesday and what he adds to the team on the offensive side of the football as well. We go deep into his fit with the Steelers which mainly revolves around his kick returning abilities. Alex and I dig deep into the new kickoff rule and the impact it might have not only on the actual play, but the personnel used on special teams as well. We discuss if we like the rule change overall. The Steelers also recently signed DL Dean Lowry and QB Kyle Allen so Alex and I give our initial thoughts of their additions to the 2024 roster. We also provide extended thoughts on the recent addition of WR Quez Watkins, who we talked a little about during our Monday podcast. Steelers team president Art Rooney II and general manager Omar Khan both talked some at the annual league meetings in Orlando, Fla., so Alex and I go over the main talking points provided by each the last few days. Several other rule changes were passed at the league meetings this week so Alex and I discuss some of the notable ones and the expected impact each might have. With four new players agreeing to terms with the Steelers this past week, I provide a 2024 team salary cap update based on projections of those new deals. Alex and I discuss what other positions the Steelers might address in free agency moving forward and what those contracts might ultimately look like. The Steelers remain busy in the pre-draft process, so we discuss the team's most recent visitor and where all personnel have been spotted around the country when it comes to their scouting of players. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 111-minute episode, and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. March 25, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 106 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I discuss the morning news of the Pittsburgh Steelers signing former Philadelphia Eagles WR Quez Watkins to a one-year contract. We address how he fits on the team and what he brings to the Steelers. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin has now talked twice at the annual meetings in Orlando, Florida and that resulted in him producing quite a few talking points on various topics. Alex and I spend the bulk of this show going over all of the main things that Tomlin had to say on Sunday evening and Monday morning. We discuss the Steelers pecking order at the quarterback position, Broderick Jones potentially moving to left tackle, the draft related to the center and wide receiver positions, the health of ILB Cole Holcomb and DT Cameron Heyward, and much, much more on the heels of Tomlin's recent media comments. Some NFL rule changes are on the way with the most notable one being related to the hip-drop tackle. Alex and I spend a little time discussing that set of topics in this show. Later in this show, Alex and I once again revisit the situation with San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk and this was before the GM John Lynch spoke to the media on Monday morning. We go over the 49ers current cap and financial situations as it relates to them not being guaranteed to trade Aiyuk. Alex and I also discuss where the Steelers currently sit in cash spending at this point of the offseason and what that might mean when it comes to more signings happening. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 107-minute episode and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. March 22, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 105 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers and their pre-draft processes. This includes us discussing the growing list of pre-draft visitors, pro day sightings and much more. As expected, the steelers have a large contingent at the Michigan pro day on Friday and that includes GM Omar Khan and HC Mike Tomlin being present. We discuss if the Steelers will indeed wind up drafting a Michigan player this year and if so, which player or players that might ultimately be. We also go over where some recent position coaches have been spotted on the pro day circuit. Former Steelers CB Cameron Sutton is unfortunately in the news this week due to him being wanted by Florida police. We update what has happened with him and how the Detroit Lions have now parted ways with him as of Thursday evening. We go over what the Steelers have done so far since the 2024 NFL league year got underway last Wednesday and how we thought the team might have made another addition or two this week. We review the cash spent so far in the new league year. I pass along a new 2024 salary cap update for the Steelers during this Friday show and that leads to us having a long tin foil hat conversation about Pittsburgh potentially trading for San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk. While we addressed the Aiyuk plausibility in our last show, we go much deeper with some theories related to that topic in this show and especially when it comes to current salary cap space and cash spent. We make sure to discuss trade compensation possibilities when it comes to Aiyuk as well. The Steelers still have a few holes that it feels like they should fill before the 2024 NFL Draft rolls around, so Alex and I make sure to hit on that topic in this show. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 87-minute episode and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. March 20, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 104 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to the news regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers and their latest addition to the coaching staff, Anthony Midget. Will the Steelers trade for San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk? Is such a trade plausible and should the Steelers consider such a trade? Alex and I have a lengthy conversation about Brandon Aiyuk, and we attempt to answer several of those questions and more. We go deep into what a potential trade for Aiyuk would look like. We also go over the news that free agent WR Mike Williams has agreed to terms with the New York Jets on a one-year contract after visiting with them on Tuesday. Forker Steelers QB Kenny Pickett recently held his introductory press conference with his new team, the Philadelphia Eagles, so Alex and I quickly go over that event. The Steelers continue to make their annual pro day rounds in addition to scheduling pre-draft visitors, so Alex and I update what we know about those two topics since our last show. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to the news regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers reworking the contract of new CB Donte Jackson after trading for him last week. We go over the details of Jackson's new contract and where that puts the Steelers right now as far as their 2024 salary cap situation goes. The Steelers are now set to bring in free agent WR Mike Williams later this week, so Alex and I discuss that news, the potential of him signing with the team, and his possible fit in Pittsburgh when it comes to the offense. We move on to talk more about new Steelers QB Justin Fields and that includes his play to date, his upside, how he might be used in the offseason 2024 as a backup to Russell Wilson and much more. We also discuss the possibility of the Steelers attempting to sign Fields to some sort of short contract extension at some point during the remainder of the offseason. How did the Steelers fail former QB Kenny Pickett in his two seasons with the team? We attempt to answer that question on the heels of the Steelers trading Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday. March 17, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 102 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Sunday show, which was recorded very late on Saturday night, Alex Kozora and I get right to the news of the Pittsburgh Steelers acquiring QB Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears via a trade earlier in the day. Alex and I discuss the compensation value that the Steelers had in trading for Fields and how the Bears effectively just had to give him away to him. We talk about how Fields' trade value seemingly rotted away this offseason. We go over the links the Steelers have to Fields dating back his draft year, what the tape says about him and his fit in the Pittsburgh quarterback room. We also discuss his contract situation and the fifth-year option decision the Steelers have on him these next several weeks. After fully discussing Fields, Alex and I give more extended thoughts on the Steelers trading away QB Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles and how there have been more reports that have come out on everything related to him. After discussing Pickett, Alex and I move forward to talk about new Steelers WR Van Jefferson, who reportedly has agreed to a one-year contract with the team since our last show. We talk about how he fits in with the Steelers and what his recent tape says about him as well. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 70-minute episode and we end things by answering one email that we received from a listener. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. March 15, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 101 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, which really goes off the rails quickly halfway through it, Alex Kozora and I start by reviewing the introductory press conferences that were given by QB Russell Wilson, LB Patrick Queen and S DeShon Elliott earlier in the day. We cover the main talking points from each. With Elliott being a new addition since our last show we discuss what all he brings to the Steelers and the role he'll likely have in the defense. Alex and I then recap the re-signings of three Steelers players, LS Christian Kuntz, S Miles Killebrew, and DT Montravius Adams. We briefly discuss what is known and not known about those contracts as well. Alex and I then react to the Friday news of QB Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles in real-time. We go over the tweets as they come regarding things known about that trade. It makes for an interesting show from that point forward. We then wonder about the ways the Steelers will go about filling their quarterback room on the heels of them trading away Pickett. Alex and I then go over some pre-draft visitor news in addition to the several pro day sightings related to the Steelers. March 13, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 100 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, which was recorded late Tuesday night, Alex Kozora and I get right to recapping the busy day that the Pittsburgh Steelers had ahead of the new league year starting on Wednesday afternoon. Alex and I start with the Tuesday news concerning the Steelers trading WR Diontae Johnson to the Panthers in exchange for CB Donte Jackson. We try to answer the why related to Johnson being traded and then move on to discuss the arrival of Jackson to the team. We attack this discussion from every angle and the impact, if any, it might have on the rest of free agency and the draft. As part of the trade discussion, Alex and I discuss the initial salary cap impact of it. We also discuss the possibility of Jackson's contract being adjusted in some way, shape, or form upon his arrival to the team. We go over what that might look like if something related to his contract does happen. We move to discuss the Steelers agreeing to terms with former Baltimore Ravens LB Patrick Queen on Tuesday. We go over his play to date, what his tape says, and what all HC Mike Tomlin has said about the linebacker in the past. We discuss his fit with the Steelers and what it means to the position group overall. We also discuss the Queen contract and specifically how it's such a great deal for the Steelers. The Steelers also came to terms with former Houston Texans P Cameron Johnston so we set aside some time to discuss everything related to him joining the team. We discuss his contract, stats to date and more. As you would expect, we update the Steelers 2024 salary cap situation as the team sits right now. What will the Steelers attack in free agency moving forward? Alex and I make sure to attempt to answer that question later in the show. The Steelers have been busy on the pro day circuit since our last show so Alex and I update the sightings and what they may or may not mean when it comes to looking forward to the 2024 NFL Draft. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 84-minute episode and we end it by answering a few questions we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. March 11, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 99 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the news of the Pittsburgh Steelers signing veteran QB Russell Wilson. We look at the addition of Wilson from all angles and the expectation that he will be the team's Week One starter in 2024. We also discuss what the Wilson signing means for QB Kenny Pickett moving forward. The signing of Wilson also means that QB Mason Rudolph is unlikely to re-sign so we discuss that topic in addition to the team still needing to add two more quarterbacks to their roster this offseason. Will one of those come via a late draft pick? How much better will the Steelers be in 2024 if Wilson is the team's starter and can the team at least win a playoff game? What does Wilson need to do to make the Steelers offense more competitive? We discuss all of those things. The Steelers released WR Allen Robinson II after our Friday show ended so we discuss that news along with the team re-signing DT Breiden Fehoko. What will happen to Steelers WR Diontae Johnson in this next week? Will he be traded? Alex and I revisit that topic and discuss what it would take for us to deal Johnson at this point. Alex released a new mock draft ahead of the NFL legal tampering period starting on Monday, so we go over his seven selections thoroughly. How much cash will the Steelers spend in free agency this year? Alex and I go over my projection related to that topic. We also go over the positions the Steelers are likely to add via free agency this year and what the max value might be when it comes to the team's top one or two signings in the coming weeks. Alex and I also address the Steelers own unrestricted free agents and which ones are likely to be re-signed. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 101-minute episode and we end it by answering a few questions we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. March 8, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 98 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers and their interest in QB Russell Wilson, who is reportedly headed to visit with the team on Friday. We attack the Wilson topic from every angle possible. We also discuss if Wilson is the best possible outside quarterback addition the Steelers could possibly make this offseason and how competitive the team might be if he ultimately signs. After discussing the Wilson news thoroughly, Alex and I then discuss the reported release of veteran CB Patrick Peterson on Friday. That news broke midway through the show, so we recap the salary cap space gained by his release and the impact it has on the cornerback room. Additionally, we discuss the Steelers releasing S Keanu Neal on Thursday and the impact of that move from several angles. Several former Steelers released by the team this offseason have now signed with new teams, so Alex and I recap that news when it comes to QB Mitch Trubisky and OT Chukwuma Okorafor. With the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine now behind us, Alex and I have the three site contributors that were at the event covering it, Jonathan Heitritter, Ross McCorkle, and Joe Clark, all on the Friday show for a roundtable recap discussion of the event. We discuss several players with them during roughly an hour-long discussion. We make sure to cover all of the position groups as well. If not already doing so, please make sure to follow Jonathan, Joe and Ross on Twitter and thank them for their contributions. Late in this show, Alex and I discuss the cash spending the Steelers had in 2023 and we also quickly go over the annual mock offseason exercise that Alex conducted that is now on the site as of Friday morning. While several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 126-minute episode, we unfortunately failed to get to answering any questions that we received from listeners of the show due to time constraints. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. March 6, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 97 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I quickly go over the franchise and transition tags that have been placed on players around the NFL on the heels of the annual deadline passing on Tuesday. Several players are now being cut around the NFL with the start of the new league now almost here and with that, Alex and I discuss a few players now on the street that the Pittsburgh Steelers might ultimately have some interest in signing. One of those players we discuss is former Miami Dolphins ILB Jerome Baker. We go over his health status, possible fit with the Steelers, and more. March 4, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 96 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, which was recorded late Sunday night, Alex Kozora and I jump right into talking about the recent passings of former Pittsburgh Steelers LB Andy Russell and longtime ESPN reporter Chris Mortensen. We discuss how Russell hasn't even made it to be a Hall of Fame semifinalist upon his passing. On Sunday, there was a report concerning Steelers WR Diontae Johnson and the team being open to trading him for the right compensation. Alex and I dig into that report and explore both sides of the possibility that Johnson could be traded and what such a deal would need to look like and when it would likely need to happen. There's been even more speculation about the Steelers possibly trading for Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields, so Alex and I dig even more into that topic. We focus a lot on what all Adam Schefter of ESPN said recently about Fields being traded and the teams likely involved in pursuing him. We make sure to look at the plausibility factor regarding the Steelers possibly trading for Fields from all angles during this show. The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine wrapped up over the weekend and with that, Alex and I go over our main thoughts from that annual event when it comes to several of the position groups. We talk about several different players the Steelers are likely to be interested in drafting and much more. March 1, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 95 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, which was recorded late Thursday night, Alex Kozora and I jump right into talking about the annual NFLPA report card belonging to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which was not favorable at all. Alex and I discuss the grades the Steelers received in several different categories and are concern levels when it comes to most of them. We also discuss the role that team president Art Rooney II plays in this bad report card. Bill Hillgrove will no longer be the Steelers play-by-play caller on the radio after 30 years of holding that job, so Alex and I make sure to hit on that topic early in this show. Steelers GM Omar Khan conducted three different media interviews on Thursday while at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, IN, so Alex and I discuss all of the main talking points to come out of those. While there are too many individual talking points to list in this recap post, we certainly make sure to discuss each one thoroughly. Will the Steelers extend the contract of WR Diontae Johnson this offseason? Will T Broderick Jones move to the left side sooner rather than later? Is inside linebacker a primary draft need due to the uncertain health of ILB Cole Holcomb? We attempt to answer those questions and several others based on things that Khan did and did not say on Thursday. With the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine now well underway, Alex and I discuss the first three position groups that hit the field on Thursday. We also discuss the defensive backs the team seems to have formal interest in while in Indianapolis and we also go over some of the players who drilled on Thursday. I provide a quick 2024 salary cap update for the team late in this show as well. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 98-minute episode and we end it by answering several questions that we received from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Those moves included the Steelers parting ways with QB Mitch Trubisky, OT Chukwuma Okorafor, and P Pressley Harvin III. We discuss the surprising timing of those three moves with them coming just one day after Super Bowl LVIII was played. Alex and I then discuss ways the Steelers are likely to get cap compliant by the start of the new league year and how much space they might look to have entering free agency. Will the Steelers be very active in free agency this year? What is the most they are likely to spend on an unrestricted free agent from an APY standpoint? We attempt to answer those questions in this show as well. The Steelers waiver claim of LB Jeremiah Moon finally processed on Monday, so Alex and I discuss his unique situation and the shrewdness of the move. We also discuss the Monday news concerning the Steelers extending the contract of running backs coach Eddie Faulkner. Adam Schefter of ESPN talked about the Steelers and potential interest in Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields on Monday, and the internet has since gone wild as a result of him doing so. With Fields being a heavy social media topic again on Tuesday, Alex and I jump into another discussion concerning the possibility, feasibility, and plausibility of the Steelers potential trading for the Bears quarterback. We discuss several aspects of that game and main takeaways from it with offseason now officially being underway. How important is the quarterback position in the NFL and especially when it comes to Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and the talent that he was surrounded by in 2023? We relate that topic to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the outlook for them at the quarterback position heading into the offseason. We break down those specu-reports and talk a little bit about contractual value when it comes to each player. February 5, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 86 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about former Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell saying a few days ago on Snapchat that he plans to attempt a comeback this offseason. We talk about his chances of returning to the Steelers and more. Alex released his first full Steelers' mock draft of 2024 on Monday morning so as you would expect, we go over it pick-by-pick and discuss his choices and why he made them. We go into detail on several of the players that Alex mocked to the Steelers and more. This obviously makes for a long segment due to the number of picks we must review and discuss. In the middle of this show, Alex and I are once again joined by Aaron Freeman, who covers the Atlanta Falcons on the Locked on Falcons podcast. If you remember, we had Aaron on a few years ago ahead of the Steelers playing the Falcons in Atlanta during the 2022 regular season. In this interview, Alex and I get an overview of what Aaron knows about new Steelers OC Arthur Smith after his three years spent with the Falcons as their head coach. In total, we spend roughly 35 minutes talking to Aaron about Smith. If not already doing so, please follow Aaron on Twitter at @lockedonfalcons and thank him for appearing on the Friday show. You can also read some of Aaron's work online here: https://www.sbnation.com/users/AaronFreeman#activity and listed to his podcast here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/locked-on-falcons-daily-podcast-on-the-atlanta-falcons/id1147245791 Missi Matthews conducted a one-on-one interview with Smith over the weekend, so Alex and I make sure to recap that short session during this Monday episode as well. After having Aaron on, Alex and I discuss how third wide receivers have been utilized in Smith's offense the last five seasons. That discussion is a result of a post I wrote thar includes data pulled from 2019-2023. The main takeaway from that discussion revolves around the Steelers being unlikely to add a notable unrestricted free agent wide receiver this coming offseason. We do, however, discuss the possibility of the Steelers adding a wide receiver at some point during the 2024 NFL Draft. How possible is it that the Steelers lands Chicago Bears CB Jaylon Johnson during the offseason? Alex and I discuss that question and topic later in this show on the heels of comments made by Johnson over the weekend while participating in the annual Pro Bowl games festivities. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 120-minute episode and we also make sure to read and answer a listener email to close this show out. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.
