John sits down with Mike Arnold (author of Bringing Back the Lions and Bringing Back the Wild, biologist, and host of the Bringing Back the Wild podcast) for a deep dive into one of the more specialized pursuits in African hunting: the Tiny Ten. Mike shares the full story of how his very first African animal — a Vaal Rhebok in the Great Karoo — launched a multi-country quest that eventually produced eleven of these pygmy antelope. He walks through the hunts for Vaal Rhebok, Bush Duiker, Klipspringer, Cape Grysbok, Steenbok, Damara Dik-Dik, Blue Duiker, Red Duiker, Suni, Oribi, and Red-Flanked Duiker across South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, and Cameroon. They discuss the specialized habitats and tactics required, the surprisingly effective use of varmint calls on some species, the best cartridges for animals that can weigh under 20 pounds (from .22 Hornet to .375), the challenges of shot placement and taxidermy, SCI scoring realities, and why these little antelope are often more difficult and rewarding than many larger plains-game species. Mike also puts on his biologist hat to explain how so many tiny antelope have thrived in a predator-rich landscape, the heavy bushmeat pressure they face, and the conservation role of places like Zambezi Delta Safaris. Whether you've already taken a couple of the Tiny Ten or you're just curious about this specialized side of African hunting, this episode delivers both great stories and practical insight. In this episode of The Birth Lounge Podcast, HeHe sits down with veteran midwife, doula trainer, and author Shafia Monroe, aka Mama Shafia, to talk about something we don't talk about nearly enough: who is taking care of the mother after she has the baby? After a decade of supporting more than 2,000 families, HeHe knows firsthand that birth doesn't end when the baby arrives. And Mama Shafia has spent decades studying and practicing the kind of community-based midwifery and postpartum care that treats the mother like someone who needs to be cared for, too. Together, they unpack what traditional postpartum support has looked like across cultures, from rest and warmth to keeping baby close, nourishing the mother, and surrounding her with a whole village of support. Mama Shafia shares her journey into midwifery, the lessons she learned from birth workers across the world, and what other countries can teach us about caring for mothers and babies. They also get real about the ways the U.S. maternal healthcare system has made that kind of care harder to access, including hospital closures, limited midwifery access, lack of paid maternity leave, legal barriers, and the loss of important birth skills. And then we get into the postpartum piece that HeHe is especially passionate about: why are we expecting a brand-new mom to take care of everyone else when she is the one who just gave birth? They talk about the importance of rest, warmth, skin-to-skin, community support, letting other people care for YOU, and rebuilding a village when your own mom or family isn't available. If you've ever wondered why postpartum can feel so lonely, overwhelming, or wildly different from what you expected, this conversation will make you rethink what we consider “normal” after birth. Because maybe the problem isn't that new moms aren't doing enough. Maybe we've stopped mothering the mother. Guest Bio: Shafia Monroe is a Master of Public Health, author, veteran midwife, doula trainer, medicine woman, wife, mother and grandmother. She answered her call to be a healer as a young girl taking care of the elderly and stray animal. She founded the first national Black midwives organization in 1991, in 2011 she created Shafia Monroe Consulting personal development, and motivational speaking. And in 2017' she launched SMC Full Circle Doula Birth Companion Training to teach traditional birth and postpartum traditions, to improve infant and maternal, and honor the legacy of the 20th century African American midwife. Since 2002 she has trained over 5000 doulas. Her mission is to bring healing and happiness to every new mother and increase the number of doulas and midwives who will care for them. In her spare time, she grows medicinal herbs and fragrant flowers and fishes with her husband. On January 27, 2026, she published her book, “Mothering the Mother, African American Postpartum Traditions, Recipes, and Healing,” changing how the country looks at postpartum care. Global shipping moves roughly 80 to 90% of the world's trade, and it comes with a real climate cost: the industry is responsible for a little over 2% of global CO2 emissions. On today's episode of the How to Protect the Ocean Podcast, Andrew looks at one of the more surprising fixes the industry is turning to: sails. Not the old canvas kind, but massive rigid wing sails retrofitted onto modern cargo vessels to cut fuel use and emissions without waiting on next-generation fuels. The centerpiece example is the Pyxis Ocean, a bulk carrier fitted with two 37.5-meter WindWings that fold down like giant airplane wings when they're not catching wind. It's part of a wider trend: more than 100 large cargo ships now sail with some form of wind propulsion installed, and the fuel savings range from about 1% to as much as 47%, depending on the number of sails and wind conditions. Andrew breaks down why shipping companies are leaning into this old-school technology now, from tightening emissions regulations to the simple fact that wind is free once the hardware is on deck. The bigger obstacle isn't the technology, it's the business model. Andrew digs into the split incentive problem in shipping: the owners who pay to install wind systems often aren't the ones paying for fuel, and the charterers who control fuel costs aren't the ones footing the bill for new equipment. That mismatch, more than any engineering hurdle, is what's slowing wind propulsion from scaling across the global fleet. Takeaways: Global shipping carries 80 to 90% of world trade and produces roughly 2% of global CO2 emissions The Pyxis Ocean was retrofitted with two 37.5-meter WindWing sails and helped kick off the current wave of wind-assisted shipping More than 100 large cargo ships now have wind propulsion installed, saving an estimated 100,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent a year combined Wind can cut fuel use anywhere from 1% to 47%, and purpose-built wind-assisted ships could average a 50% reduction The biggest barrier to scaling wind propulsion is commercial, not technical: owners and charterers have mismatched incentives The IMO has set decarbonization targets for shipping, and EU-funded projects are running sea trials in the North Sea to prove the technology out Support Independent Podcasts: https://www.speakupforblue.com/patreon Need help with your ocean non-profit, company, or project? Host Larry Weishuhn welcomes Dr. Mike Arnold, a geneticist and well seasoned outdoorsman, to discuss his recent hunting adventures in Africa. Mike shares that he maximizes his transatlantic flights by booking mini-safaris to hunt multiple species across diverse terrains. Mike began his trip in Johannesburg before heading to the Great Karoo, a high-desert region sitting at 6,000 to 6,500 feet in elevation. He hunted on a newly organized 50,000-acre property divided into a 28,000-acre low-fenced area and a 20,000-acre high-fenced area used to protect white rhinos from poachers. His targets were the Bontebok and its closely related subspecies, the Blessbok, both of which were historically driven to near extinction by farmers but saved through agricultural game-farming systems. Mike noted that both species were highly flighty and challenging to stalk, comparing their behavior to North American Pronghorn antelope. He successfully harvested a beautiful Bontebok ram at 250 yards, and after missing two initial shots, harvested a Blessbok at the same distance. The high-elevation terrain was unseasonably cold, and the hunters were snowed on while pursuing game in the higher mountain property. Mike traveled higher into the Stormberg area for a bird hunt commissioned by Diana Rupp for Sports Afield magazine. Using a Fausti shotgun, he targeted Greywing partridge, Guineafowl, and Snipe. The Greywing population was surprisingly sparse, which locals attributed to a recent fungal infection. The wild Guineafowl proved to be incredibly fast runners, requiring a spot-and-stalk hunting approach to flush them out. Snipe hunting in the marshes was extremely difficult because the birds fly only a few feet off the ground, though Mike eventually harvested a female after two missed shots. Despite his wife Frances initially forbidding more taxidermy in the house, they agreed to commission a full-body mount of the snipe. The couple then flew to Coutada 11 in Mozambique, an area characterized by massive conservation successes, including hyena reintroductions and a lion population that grew from 24 to 100 individuals. At Frances's request, Mike embarked on a "community buffalo" hunt to provide meat for a local village. This was a "reverse trophy hunt" where hunters pay to harvest an old, non-exportable Cape buffalo bull solely to feed the community. After a grueling 10-hour track through woods and crocodile-infested marshes, Mike successfully shot the buffalo at 178 yards using a .416 Rigby CZ bolt-action rifle. Mike also hunted a Crawshay's zebra, a unique plains zebra noted for having stripes that go all the way down to its hooves and an asymmetrical backline. He harvested the zebra at 65 yards using his guide's custom .338-06 rifle loaded with Hornady ELD-X bullets. Frances requested the zebra be made into a flat skin rather than a traditional rug with a felt backing to avoid tripping on it in their bedroom. Mike is gathering material for his upcoming book focusing on hunters who have helped bring species back from the brink of extinction. He has two remaining hunts for the book: an Arctic snowmobile hunt for muskox and a hunt for chamois in Spain. Why Gen Z Is Bringing Back Old Tech | Vinyl, CDs, Flip Phones & Film Are Surging Yesterday Why Gen Z Is Bringing Back Old Tech | Vinyl, CDs, Flip Phones & Film Are Surging Why are young people embracing yesterday's technology? Vinyl records are booming, CD sales are climbing, film cameras are back, and even flip phones are making a surprising comeback. After decades of racing toward an all-digital world, are we finally experiencing digital fatigue? On today's episode, Karel explores why consumers are rediscovering physical media and analog technology. As streaming services remove content, gaming companies push toward digital-only ownership, and algorithms dominate our daily lives, more people are asking a simple question: Do we actually own anything anymore? We'll look at the data behind the resurgence of vinyl records, compact discs, film photography, and "dumb phones," why Gen Z is leading much of this movement despite never growing up with these technologies, and whether this is nostalgia—or the beginning of a cultural shift back toward tangible experiences. Are we moving backward... or simply reclaiming something we've lost? The Karel Cast is powered by viewers like you. Support independent broadcasting at Patreon.com/ReallyKarel. New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino joins The Karol Markowicz Show for a candid conversation about standing as one of the city’s most prominent Republican voices, winning over voters in a heavily Democratic district, and why she believes New York City is at a critical turning point. Paladino discusses her opposition to Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s agenda, her concerns over the direction of the Democratic Party, the future of New York politics, sanctuary city policies, and her fight to protect free speech amid a legal battle with the City Council. She also shares how her background as a small business owner, PTA parent, and community activist shaped her approach to public service. Karol and Vickie also reflect on why so many families have left New York, whether the city can return to what it once was, and the importance of staying optimistic, building trust, and taking on challenges one step at a time.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jim Hill presides over another not-so-weighty session of The Case For as Len Testa and Chris Cox debate which lost Walt Disney World guest services deserve a comeback. Inspired by a listener email about resort package delivery, the trio weighs the case for bringing back in-park purchase delivery, Magical Express, resort airline check-in, wider Extra Magic Hours access, longer park days, and even those wonderfully impractical resort mugs. Along the way, they consider whether these old perks were just guest-service niceties or clever ways for Disney to keep visitors shopping, dining, and planning their next trip. HIGHLIGHTS • Why resort package delivery may have quietly shaped how much merchandise guests bought in the parks • The argument for bringing back Magical Express as both transportation and a moving Disney marketing moment • How resort airline check-in is starting to return in limited form for select Value Resort guests • Whether Extra Magic Hours should once again be available to more Disney resort hotel guests • Why Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom may have the strongest case for longer operating hours HOSTS • Jim Hill - X/Twitter: @JimHillMedia, Instagram: @JimHillMedia, Website: jimhillmedia.com • Len Testa - Bluesky: @lentesta.bsky.social, Instagram: @len.testa, Website: touringplans.com • Chris Cox - X/Twitter: @bigcox, Instagram: @magiccox, Website: magiccox.com FOLLOW • Facebook: @JimHillMediaNews • YouTube: @jimhillmedia • TikTok: @jimhillmedia • Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/jimhillmedia/ SUPPORT Support the show and access bonus episodes and additional content at https://www.patreon.com/jimhillmedia. So it's been a hot minute since I ranted about client communication, y'all. In this replay of episode 204, I'm breaking down the three things every single client email needs — automated or not — to actually get read: purpose, personality, and preview.I'll walk you through how to title your email templates by purpose (hint: your clients never see the title, so make it work for you), why a Schitt's Creek GIF might be doing more for your client relationships than you think, and the one question every email should answer before your client even has to ask it: what happens next?Plus, your homework — pick one email in your client experience and run it through the three Ps. I dare you to stop at just one.
What are you pursuing most? In his message, Pastor Rodney reminds us that God's presence isn't something to visit occasionally—it's Someone to pursue continually. Through David's journey to bring the Ark of God back to Israel, we're challenged to desire His presence above comfort, success, and the approval of people, remembering that God's presence is enjoyed most deeply when His Word is honored completely. Listen and be challenged. Support the show
Bringing Back Grunge The United Kingdom's Zilch is quickly becoming one of the leading bands in the growing neo-grunge movement, blending the raw energy and emotion of '90s grunge with a fresh modern sound. As someone who grew up during the grunge era, it's exciting to see bands like Zilch keeping that spirit alive for a new generation. I first discovered Zilch on TikTok, then started following their journey on Instagram and adding their music to my regular Spotify rotation. Their sound immediately stood out, and I knew I wanted to learn more about the band behind it. In this interview, we dive into Zilch's origin story, first band names, musical influences, songwriting, the surprising reason he says he sounds nothing like James Hetfield of Metallica, and much more. If you're a fan of grunge, alternative rock, post-grunge, or discovering new independent bands, this is an interview you won't want to miss. Be sure to like, subscribe, and let us know your favorite Zilch song in the comments! Susan Kokinda has been politically active since 1968, when she was part of the Robert Kennedy presidential campaign in Oregon and California. She pivoted politically after that, and in the 1970's and 1980's was active in Washington, DC, defending Richard Nixon during Watergate, covering the White House during the Carter Administration, and working with Congress in support of President Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative. With President Trump's 2016 victory, she knew it was time to return to Michigan. Since then, she has been organizing throughout the state, educating and building support for President Trump's commitment to make the U.S. a manufacturing superpower and to make the Republican Party the party of workers and producers. In March 2025, she was elected Coalitions Vice Chair of the Michigan Republican Party. She broadcasts on the Promethean Update YouTube channel and regularly reaches over 300,000 views. Her theme, along with her co-host Barbara Boyd, is that the real battle in the world is between the opposing principles of the American System and the British System, which represent two different images of man and society. She has been interviewed by OAN, Real America's Voice, Stephen Gardner, and numerous podcasters. The KunstlerCast theme music is the beautiful Two Rivers Waltz written and performed by Larry Unger

From a 24-hour hangover and the pure joy of a clean garage to campaigning for the return of the mixtape (Spotify playlists just aren't the same), Wells is showing his age again in today's episode. And after weeks of YFTers begging, Brandi FINALLY started Off Campus! The excitement continues as Wells shares that he got to film his golf show with the legendary Luke Wilson, where he discovers Luke's favorite Wes Anderson movie (not the one you'd expect) but somehow forgets to ask about The Family Stone. A devastating fumble. Meanwhile, Brandi spends her week h anging with all the dogs at Wags & Walks and accidentally spills the tea on a secret Cyrus family pet (and it's not the tortoise or the ducks!). Plus, they discuss the deeply upsetting Netflix documentary The Crash, the never-ending Murdoch family drama, and a book recommendation featuring aliens and a cat named Princess Donut.
