Finish Your Breakfast (5.28.2026): I see you Juan Soto, and even you can't make me hate Jalen Brunson (hahaha), even Pope Leo is a Knicks fan. Shohei did what Shohei does last night. Murakami did what Murakami does last night. Byron Buxton did what Byron Buxton does last night. Yordan Alvarez has hit four homers in two games. Yankees ace Gerrit Cole was dominate against the Royals. The O's got a meaning sweep against the Rays, and the Nats won their series against the Guardians 2-1. The Rangers DFA'ed Andrew McCutchen. I hope he gets on with another team for the remainder of the season.
Rob Bradford and the guys discuss that status of the Red Sox and provide updates on Crochet, Whitlock, and Anthony. Would the Red Sox be World Series contenders with Yordan Alvarez?

ITL reacts to Xavier Hutchinson declaring “7 is back” when talking about C. J. Stroud, and the guys debate whether they agree with the confidence surrounding the Houston Texans quarterback heading into the new season. ITL breaks down what they expect from Stroud after an up-and-down year and whether the belief inside the building feels different right now. Then the focus shifts to the Houston Astros as Jose Altuve heads to the IL, leaving Yordan Alvarez as the lone remaining everyday player from Houston's dynasty-era core. The guys reflect on the Astros run, asking whether it truly became everything fans hoped it would be—or if there's still a lingering feeling that more could've been accomplished. The hour wraps with today's QOTD: When have you accidentally spilled the beans about something you definitely weren't supposed to reveal?

Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber open with a busy baseball conversation as the Yankees get key names back in the lineup and Anthony Volpe's role comes under the microscope. The guys debate whether Volpe should reclaim shortstop, learn multiple infield spots, or let Jazz Chisholm and Jose Caballero hold their current roles. The Mets discussion centers on the need for more power, whether a big swing for a bat like Yordan Alvarez is realistic, and why Rafael Devers does not feel like the right fit. The segment also touches on the Mets' place in the standings, Tiki's Clemson memories, college football playoff expansion, and a heartfelt tribute to former Nets center Jason Collins.

Our guy Milner has been absolutely KILLING these Best Bets, Houston! Tail THA HEATER!$!$
This is the tough thing to deal with for Astros fans and the team… This DOWNFALL.. This END of the 'GOLDEN ERA' on the diamond in Houston.. Astros lose their 8th straight to in-division foe Mariners!
Chandler Rome of The Athletic doubts Houston would seriously consider a move as drastic as trading Yordan Alvarez, but veterans such as Christian Walker and Isaac Paredes could emerge as more realistic trade candidates if the Astros continue to slide out of the AL West race before the deadline. Plus, are Dana Brown and Joe Espada on the hot seat? Be sure to listen to the audio for the full discussion.
SURELY, Astros General Manager Dana Brown wouldn't trade the big fella, Yordan Alvarez.. RIGHT?!?
RYON HEALY makes his weekly visit to talk M's. What did he think of last night's win in Houston? What is wrong with Cal Raleigh and what can he do to fix it? Is Ryon worried Cal won't be able to come out of it? Luke Raley should never have been forgotten about and now he's making a huge impact. Does Luis Castillo still have his stuff? :30- COOPER CRISWELL (Seattle Mariners) joins the show for the first time ever and talks about his time with the Mariners so far. How does he feel about his role with the team so far? How did he get #88? This is a great story! :45- We close out the show with one last thing! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
ITL dives into a difficult but fascinating Houston Astros conversation—if Houston truly reaches the point where getting back into the race no longer feels realistic, is making Yordan Alvarez completely untouchable actually the smart move? The guys debate franchise direction, long-term value, fan reaction, and whether there's any scenario where trading a superstar could make sense for the future of the organization. Then it's Figgy's Mixtape, featuring a chaotic Zoom hearing involving a judge and defendant, a legendary Texas music hall finally getting air conditioning, and more bizarre and entertaining stories from around the internet.
ITL reacts to a leaked Houston Texans schedule report that has Houston heading to London to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, sparking debate about international games, travel concerns, and whether fans actually enjoy these overseas matchups. The show also dives into what may be the most important stretch yet for the Houston Astros as the guys debate whether the next week of baseball could determine if Houston stabilizes or fully slips into a much darker conversation. Around The NFL includes quarterback drama involving the Minnesota Vikings and J. J. McCarthy, more buzz surrounding Kyler Murray, David Njoku landing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, and more league headlines. ITL also debates whether Kevin Durant has already played his final game with the Houston Rockets and what Houston's next move should be. The guys continue breaking down the Texans' rookie class by discussing whether early impressions are already answering some of the biggest questions surrounding Houston's top draft picks, while Lunch-Time Confessions turns into a hilarious conversation about TMZ potentially reaching too far with the latest Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini rumors. Winners & Losers of the Weekend highlights the biggest Ws and biggest flops across sports and culture. To close the show, ITL tackles a major Astros debate involving Yordan Alvarez and whether making him completely untouchable is actually smart if Houston falls out of contention, while Figgy's Mixtape features chaotic Zoom courtroom drama, a legendary Texas music hall finally getting air conditioning, and more bizarre internet stories. Plus, the QOTD asks listeners: what's a rule you're an absolute stickler about?
Astros lose the weekend series to Reds and Sunday 5-0 in Cincinatti;
The Mariners road trip continues as the team heads to Houston tonight to start a 4-game series against the Astros. CHANDLER ROME (The Athletic) joins the show to give us the latest on the Astros and help us preview this series. Is he surprised by the Mariners struggles so far this season? How concerned is he by what's going on in Houston? Does he think they can turn it around? A lot could be determined about the Astros future after this week. :30- Let's face it, Wemby is about to take over as the face of the NBA and the league has been setting him and the Spurs up for success, but last night he didn't receive any special treatment and got ejected from the game for throwing an elbow. How do the Spurs and the league handle teams getting physical with him moving forward? :45- We all have one and yeah, we want to talk about ours! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Hour 1 of Jeremy and Joe discussing... When is the earliest you'd trade Yordan, if at all?
Tarik Skubal's season—and possibly his financial future—just took a major hit. The Tigers ace is expected to miss 2–3 months with an elbow injury, and Jake and Jordan break down what this means not only for Detroit's season but also for Skubal's looming free agency. Could this injury cost him a historic contract? They also discuss Framber Valdez's struggles on the mound and the fallout from hitting Trevor Story in a lopsided loss to the Red Sox. Shohei Ohtani continues to be one of the most fascinating players in baseball, but is there cause for concern? The guys analyze his recent pitching performance and dig into the narrative that his hitting dips when he's on the mound. Is this just small sample size noise, or something teams should actually be paying attention to? To wrap things up, it's time for some early-season hardware. With one month in the books, Jake and Jordan hand out their picks for AL and NL MVP, Cy Young, and Rookie of the Year. Who's real, who's surprising, and who might not last? The overreactions are flying—and that's exactly how we like it. Timetamps: (1:00) – Tarik Skubal our 2-3 months with elbow injury (26:30) – Framber Valdez ejected for hitting Trevor Story (35:45) – Shohei Ohtani continues to not hit when pitching (45:00) – Carlos Correa suffers major ankle injury (50:30) – Early season MLB awards Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

ITL asks the big-picture question about the Houston Astros—are they wasting a prime season from Yordan Alvarez? The guys break down lineup inconsistency, pitching concerns, and whether the organization is doing enough to maximize one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball right now. Then it's Figgy's Mixtape, featuring a Content Creator shootout, wild 911 dispatcher calls, and more chaotic, trending stories.
ITL covers a loaded slate of Houston sports with big questions, bold takes, and some chaos mixed in, starting with concern around Tatsuya Imai and how long the Houston Astros can stay patient before it becomes a real issue for Dana Brown. The conversation shifts to the Houston Texans and whether their culture and approach are quietly forcing mistakes from division rivals, potentially becoming a “secret sauce” in the AFC South. Around The NFL brings reactions to roster decisions involving Jahmyr Gibbs, Jack Campbell, and the retirement of Justin Simmons, while the Houston Rockets face uncertainty with Kevin Durant ruled out—raising questions about his future in Houston. ITL also reacts to Nick Caserio's comments and what they may reveal, plus BREAKING news as Azeez Al-Shaair signs a 3-year extension, solidifying a key piece of the defense. Lunch-Time Confessions delivers laughs with Figgy refusing to wear his Imai shirt, while Judge John Lopez weighs in on NBA lottery reform. The show wraps with a big-picture Astros debate on whether they're wasting a prime season from Yordan Alvarez, plus Figgy's Mixtape featuring a content creator shootout, wild 911 calls, and more off-the-wall stories, along with a QOTD on what people tend to overindulge in.

Shohei Ohtani keeps making history his on-base streak is now at 51 straight games (dating back to August 24th of last season). He's closing in on Barry Bonds, the Dodgers' all-time record, and legends like Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams. We also react to one of the most wholesome moments you'll see all week involving Jake Mangum. On the darker side: The New York Mets are in the middle of their longest losing streak in 22 years (11 games straight). Sitting at 7-15, they have the worst record in baseball tied with the Royals and are further out of first place than any other team. Is it time to stop giving them the benefit of the doubt? Plus, the AL West is a complete mess! Only a .500 team is leading the division, the Astros are struggling despite Yordan Alvarez raking, the Mariners look nothing like a contender, and the A's and Angels are somehow the bright spots. The New York Mets have found themselves in a really bad position, as they currently sit on an 11-game losing streak, which has led them to the worst record in the National League and tied for the worst in baseball. With the second-highest payroll in all of baseball for 2026, to say this season is not going as expected would be a complete understatement. On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about the Amazins' rough road trip, which concluded with them getting swept in walk-off fashion by the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. Even though the Mets are missing Juan Soto due to a calf injury, how exactly they'll be able to change their tune and stop their losing ways remains a bit of a mystery. They also discuss how the Flushing faithful might have a little less faith in this new core that was brought in during the offseason. Later, Jake and Jordan recap all the other action from the weekend, including the Atlanta Braves sweeping the Philadelphia Phillies on the back of their MLB-best pitching staff and Salvador Perez showing displeasure at getting a rest while the Kansas City Royals were swept by the New York Yankees. Then the guys talk about Munetaka Murakami smashing home runs for the Chicago White Sox and remember Los Angeles Angels great Garret Anderson. 0:55 - The Opener: Mets have lost 11 in a row 18:28 - Braves are pitching great 29:51 - How Sweep It Is: Yankees over Royals 39:11 - Yordan Alvarez is the Astros' shining light 49:51 - Tony Vitello is learning to win and lose 53:56 - Turbo Mode: Rest of the weekend action Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:
