Justin Morganstein reacts to Bo Bichette signing with the Mets, J.T. Realmuto's return and if the sport has passed Dave Dombrowski and John Middleton by. Plus, is Chase Utley headed for the Hall of Fame in 2027?
The Philadelphia Eagles season was nothing short of a disappointment. The biggest disappointment? The offense and how it was run. The poor rushing attack. The poor run blocking. The poor play design. All of it wasn't the brand of football Eagles fans have become used to. This week, friend of the pod, Ed Kracz from Eagles Today at S.I., joined the show for a deep dive into what we saw with this Eagles offense as they dissected the details. It was a fantastic conversation! But first, the guys discussed J.T. Realmuto's new contract with the Phillies, what it means for the team moving forward and how this offseason has looked. (Approx. 4:00)From there, they got into a discussion about whether or not Major League Baseball will now need to institute a salary cap after the Dodgers signed Kyle Tucker to a massive contract. (Approx. 12:30)Then they dove into Sixers young prospect Jared McCain, his short tenure with the organization and if his talent has fizzled. (Approx. 21:25)What they threw down on the Table this week was a great and in-depth conversation with Ed Kracz from Eagles Today at S.I. about what we saw from the Eagles offense all season. Why weren't changes made to the most predictable offense in the league week after week? Was there more going on with the offensive line than just injures? Who should be the Eagles next offensive coordinator? All of this and much more this week on the Table! The New York Mets struck big last year when they reeled in Juan Soto from the Bronx to headline an eventful winter. However, after a disappointing 2025 campaign, the Amazin's have been on a mission to retool this offseason, and thanks to David Stearns, they'll go into 2026 with plenty of new faces and hope for success. On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about the retooled lineup that the Mets have assembled, which includes signing Bo Bichette and trading for Luis Robert Jr. from the Chicago White Sox. In addition to the signings of Devin Williams and Jorge Polanco, the new-look Mets are looking forward to a redemption season in 2026.Later, Jordan and Jake talk about Carlos Beltrán and Andruw Jones being elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, why the Houston Astros cheating scandal caused Beltrán to have to wait and the improbable climb for Jones to make it into the Hall. Then the guys discuss the Philadelphia Phillies bringing J.T. Realmuto back to the City of Brotherly Love, Elly De La Cruz rejecting a big contract extension from the Cincinnati Reds and take a look at the LIDOM Championship Series.1:12 – The Opener: New-look Mets22:09 – Luis Robert Jr. trade33:24 – Hall of Fame results54:26 – Around the League: Phillies re-sign Realmuto1:03:02 – Three-team trade1:06:47 – Elly turns down extension1:09:33 – LIDOM Championship Series Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

The #Phillies experience an absolutely brutal week. Following Kyle Tucker's market-shattering deal with the Dodgers, Bo Bichette slipped right out of the Phils' hands. He signed a short-term, high-dollar deal with the Mets, which shows the flaws in the Phillies' offseason strategy. A few hours later, they panicked and re-signed J.T. Realmuto for the deal he wanted. Now, the Phils enter 2026 not running it back, but putting out a worse roster. The 94 WIP Midday Show react to breaking news that the Phillies re-signed J.T. Realmuto to a three year deal. It is clearly a desperation move for the Phillies as they missed out on all of the other big free agents in this class. Listen at the end as the guys react to the comments of the YouTube live stream during the You People segment!
Today's 94 WIP Midday Show was filled with significant breaking news stories around MLB that heavily impacted the Phillies. The first being that SS Bo Bichette signed with the New York Mets which was a major blow to the Phillies who had been heavily after Bichette for weeks. Just an hour later, the Phillies re-signed Catcher J.T. Realmuto to a new three year deal. There was also a lot of reactions to yesterdays press conference in which Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni spoke on the conclusion of the Eagles season. It certainly seems that Nick Sirianni does not have much power within the Eagles organization.
There was more breaking news in MLB during hour 4 of the 94 WIP Midday Show. J.T. Realmuto is heading back to the Phillies on a new three year contract. This was a clear pivot for the Phillies after they missed out on free agents Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette over the last day. During the Guess the Takes segment, Joe Giglio predicts extremely high praise for an AFC QB if his team wins this weekend. Listen at the end for the You People segment, as they guys react to the comments of the YouTube live chat!

Realmuto and where the team stands on talks with Bo Bichette. Also, Francisco expresses how he feels about Ranger Suarez officially being gone after signing a 5-year/$130 million deal with the Boston Red Sox. Lastly, he talks about the Phillies signing a 15-year-old potential phenom.
Ranger Suárez has signed a 5-year, $130M deal with the Red Sox and the Phillies Talk podcast crew is here to break down the deal and discuss the latest rumors on Bo Bichette and J.T. Realmuto.
This week on TABLE TALK, Jeff sat down with Liz Roscher from the Hittin' Season podcast and SABR to discuss the Philadelphia Phillies offseason. A fantastic discussion this week!Topics Liz and Jeff discussed:- The most intriguing signing of the Phillies so far during this offseason?- Should the Phillies really re-sign J.T. MLB free agency has reached a breaking point. With Opening Day just weeks away, some of the biggest names in baseball remain unsigned, including Kyle Tucker, Alex Bregman, Cody Bellinger, and J.T. Realmuto. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
The 94 WIP Midday Show are discussing the latest developments in Bo Bichette's free agency. Rumors have completely heated up over the last few days and have only increased after the reports of multiple MLB writers. Phillies new bench coach Don Mattingly had a strong relationship with Bichette while they were together on the Blue Jays. If the Phillies sign Bichette it may be the end of the J.T. Realmuto era in Philadelphia.
Happy New Year! Sean Kane and Spencer McKercher have the latest Phillies news, including the team hiring Don Mattingly has their bench coach, and the latest rumors on J.T. Realmuto and Bo Bichette.
Ben Davis and Jason Kelce join the 94 WIP Morning Show in-studio to discuss the current state of the Eagles as they head into the playoffs. Jason Kelce has great respect for 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan and believes the Eagles resting their starters last week will give them an advantage. When asked about JT Realmuto's free agency, Ben Davis says that Realmuto is a necessity and that pitchers don't feel as good without him behind the plate.
Are the Phillies really considering signing Bo Bichette to a free agent contract? And can new bench coach Don Mattingly help bring him to Philly? Probably not, but John Stolnis of The Good Phight, Baseball Prospectus' Justin Klugh and Liz Roscher of SABR's Baseball Research Journal discuss all that on Episode 1039 of Hittin' Season, powered by WHYY, plus J.T. Realmuto's continued absence, Japanese players going elsewhere, and the slew of free agents that remain on the market!
Francisco Rojas is back for another Phillies Today. On this episode, he discusses if he would let J.T. Realmuto walk if it meant they sign Bo Bichette or Alex Bregman. Also, a report from Ken Rosenthal on who the Phillies might be looking to platoon with Brandon Marsh. Lastly, the top five first baseman in team history.
The waiver wire may have been quiet, but there's no shortage of Phillies items to hit on a new Hittin' Season, hosted by The Good Phight's John Stolnis and Justin Klugh of Baseball Prospectus. What about Bryce Harper wearing a Not Elite T-shirt? Does Dave Dombrowski give the Phillies an edge over other GMs? And does the Phils outfield have a chance to be the worst in baseball? Surely not! Also, when is J.T. Realmuto going to sign?
With the Phillies and catcher JT Realmuto still stuck in contract talks, Joe Giglio looks at five different options Dave Dombrowski could consider if Realmuto is not brought back for 2026. One thing the Phillies won't be running back in 2026 is the same bullpen we saw in '25. After signing Brad Keller and trading away Matt Strahm, the Phils are approaching relief pitching differently this off-season. On this episode of Hittin' Season, from WHYY, John Stolnis, Justin Klugh and Liz Roscher tackle those deals, discuss why J.T. Realmuto remains unsigned and the back-up plans if they can't get a deal done, the White Sox signing a Japanese slugger and what it means for the Phillies, and a Phils-themed piece of merchandise we feel is missing from your Christmas wish lists.
