(What a bad title!) In this episode, I am sharing about what I'm learning in school, specifically about Uri Bronfrenbrenner and his Ecology of Human Development. I spend just a little time explaining his theory, and then I ask the question, How do we experience God in each level? The spiritual practice starts at minute 13 if you want to jump there. But I'm sure you will find the full explanation helpful. You can google "Bronfenbrenner Ecological Model" to see a number of different illustrations, but here is one I really like: https://twitter.com/clinpsych_ind/status/1460165178247503872 Music: A Kind of HOpe by Scott Buckley – www.scottbuckley.com.au

In this episode we dive into Ephesians 2:14 - 22 as we read about the destruction of the wall of hostility. The beginning of this year seems to be turning out to be just as event filled at 2020 was. Today our nation impeached our president for the second time in his presidency. Where ever you might rest politically, whether you agree with it or not, this probably brings up a lot of feelings. Maybe anger, fear, sadness, indignation. Yet many people are not feeling seen, not feeling heard. We long to be seen, to be understood. God can be that for you. This scripture is from the daily office for today January 13, 2021. I hope this is encouraging to your soul. In this episode we listen and soak into Matthew 5:38 in the message version. This last week has been hard for us all. And it's hard to know how to respond and how to feel. It's easy to feel angry and see those who we disagree with as our enemy. This scripture is challenging. Jesus wants us to love our enemy. There are no easy answers. But I hope that for a moment we can listen to Jesus's words and be changed by them. Here's to hope.
In response to the last 36 hours, I thought it might be so needed to hear Jesus' words and prayer for us. I hope this reading encourages and soothes your souls.
Enjoy a lectio divina on Psalm 42 and also some thoughts on the practice of sorrow. You can also read more on www.thepracticeofgod.com/blog.
Enjoy Jerimiah 29 read slowing in Lectio Divina. We are working on hearing these popular scriptures all new, stepping outside the lullaby effect they have had on us. Fall in love again. Enjoy.
Enjoy this lectio divina on psalm 84. This is one of my favorite scriptures and has been a guide and handhold for me over the years. I hope you enjoy this episode.
Finishing up our Christmastide season, enjoy a lectio divina in Matthew 2 as the Magi comes to visit the baby Jesus.
Enjoy this little snippet of time with Lectio Divina on my favorite scripture from when I first became a Christian, 2 Corinthians 5.
According to the Ignatian Spirituality website, the examen is a technique of prayerful reflection on the events of the day in order to detect God's presence and discern his direction for us. The Examen is an ancient practice in the Church that can help us see God's hand at work in our whole experience. Join me the month of January as we Practice the Examen.
