Ben Linsky is an officer in the Boston Police Department. He specifically works in the street outreach program where he is involved in the harm reduction program. With so much attention on mental health these days, Benny is on the front lines and offers unique perspective on how more and more of police work crosses into social work. Benny has used his background in psychology to better assist this vulnerable population. His journey to the police force is a unique one that we think you'll enjoy. Dana Oppedisano grew up in Everett, MA just north of Boston. He earned Master’s Degree in Journalism from University of Miami, interned at Miami Herald throughout school, wrote freelance pieces for various websites, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, he was also a Palm Beach Post Sports Reporter at Naples Daily News (Naples, FL) He covered high school sporting events, Miami Dolphins and Miami Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins, Florida Gators and Florida State football, Red Sox/MLB spring training won numerous awards and finally was able to cover Super Bowls, and the NBA Finals. He took that experience back to the Boston area and become a successful, engaging, and popular High School English teacher by teaching the skills he learned along his journey. This is his story. Bob Deraney is the former Providence College Women's Hockey Coach. He coached for almost 20 years there after starting his playing career at Catholic Memorial, Boston University, and the Johnstown Chiefs (yes from Slapshot). Currently he is coaching with the Worcester Railers of the ECHL. A native of West Roxbury, Boston, Mass., Bob grew up in an era when the immediate city neighborhoods were producing some of the best hockey talent in the country. Joe Bartell and I sat down with Bob to discuss his journey from player, to coach and all the lessons he learned along the way.
