Comic-Con was lit. We saw panels for Marvel, Mortal Kombat, and a new show called The Beauty. Highlights: • Marvel Zombies — 4 episodes. Not canon. But Blade + Moon Knight powers? Dope. • X-Men '97 — New showrunners. Same as the first showrunners. Trailer was sick. • Daredevil Season 2 — trailer blew up. Jessica Jones shows. It's bigger, wilder, leads into Brand New Day. Season 3 also confirmed. • Wonder Man — meta AF. An actor chasing a superhero life? Could end up with actual powers. • Vision Quest — most of this one's inside Vision's head. He's wrestling with all his AIs (Jarvis, FRIDAY, Karen, Ultron, Edith), and one of his kids might still be alive. • Mortal Kombat 2 — they dropped a 5-min clip. We get realm traveling (Baraka's realm seen), a more humorous tone, and a deeper Johnny Cage journey. NEED MERCH?!: www.insensitivemerch.com Join the cult of Casual Nerds and get up to 15% off! How can we improve the decision making in others? When we are delivering adventure to others, it isn't just the leader that needs to have good judgment. In every activity, there is a degree of decision-making skills that participants are going to need to be able to have, and if they don't, the odds of achieving a good outcome start to go down. There is of course another dimension to this in that many guides and instructors aren't just leading guests, friends or family. They may also be supervising or working with other guides or instructors. In this episode, we are joined by master guide, instructor, outdoor educator and friend of the show Bruce Wilson. Bruce returns to Delivering Adventure to explore how we can help others to improve their decision-making skills. When it comes to outdoor education and leadership training, Bruce is literally a Jack of all trades. Bruce is an ACMG Hiking Guide. He is a sea kayak guide and guide trainer for the Association of Sea Kayak Guides. He is an avalanche educator for Avalanche Canada.Bruce is a certified instructor in the Wim Hof Method, he has a master's degree in leadership, and is a Vision Quest instructor, just to name a few of his many qualifications and certifications. He currently instructs the Outdoor Recreation Management Program at Capilano University in North Vancouver. He also provides coaching and guiding through his company Warrior Wolf Guide Services and Coaching. In this episode of Delivering Adventure, Bruce shares key strategies that leaders can use to help others to improves their decision making.Key takeawaysHow can we help others to make better decisions?Trust Them: Whether we like it or not, we have to trust the decision making and judgement of others. Micromanaging everything is not a sustainable option for anyone in a leadership position, and it can be argued that that isn't even leadership!Create Opportunities: We need to give people the opportunity to make decisions. Decision-making is a skill. To develop skills, people need time on task to practice.Right Process: Teaching them the right process can help to set them up for success. Part of this requires us to model and then explain what a good decision-making process is.Go to Completion: It is important to let people bring their decisions to completion: this allows them to see and experience the consequences firsthand. This increases learning.Take it Seriously: Treat every moment as if it is real. This can eliminate the risk of developing bad habits. It also maximizes the learning.Guest BioWhen it comes to outdoor education and leadership training, Bruce is literally a Jack of all trades. Bruce is an ACMG Hiking Guide. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #635 is an hour of visionary acoustic improvised music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, double flute, nylon string guitar, acoustic guitar, kalimba and ukulele, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in late August of 2025, today's show begins with the rocking extended minor blues of “Standing Ones Of Peace”, a powerful prayer to the great trees of the Northeast featuring scorching work from the ensemble with Mariam's fine vocal supported by her tight ukulele as well as busy, riffing, peppery blues piano from Bob and Craig's heartbeat Native drum. “Arise” is a beautiful, energetic folk song from the “Release” album with skipping ukulele, dancing piano and groovy congas framing Mariam's upbeat soprano melody and “Spirit Of The Forest” from the “Vision Quest” album begins as a reverent, open prayer and gradually coalesces into a driving, powerful, melodic ode to the forest. For the spacious, compelling coda Mariam plays her new double flute, an instrument that creates two flute notes and an overtone, resulting in lush, rich harmonies. “The Black Moon” is a hypnotic ballad interspersed with powerful Native flute passages and a languid, beautiful melody from Mariam and “Bestowing Blessings” is as driving, powerful anthem with fine piano soloing work from Bob and tight accompaniment from the ensemble for Mariam's powerful, expressive vocal. “Twin Flame” from the “Smooth Sailin' Love Songs” LP is a mystical, reverent song with a classical vibe and another fine vocal from Mariam. The epic “Holding Our Voices” closes today's show with an extended journey through a summer day featuring Native flute fanfares that cascade through various harmonic tendrils explored and evolved by Bob's restless piano. Learn more about Mariam here: http://www.mariammassaro.com

Here is an audio preview of one of the new shows coming out on our Strange Midnight AV YouTube channel. In all of our stress disappearing we basically created 4 different 80s Found Footage Horror ASMR(-ish) TV series. First, there's Lotho's Library of Classic Horrors, an '80s goth public access show where Lotho the Librarian whispers eerie tales pulled straight from classic masters of horror. Then we have Vision Quest Video Club, a series of unsettling guided meditations that feel like they've been beamed in from a dream you don't quite remember. There's also the OTS Student Assessment Tapes, inspired by those hearing and vision tests from school. The ones that may (or may not) have been a CIA experiment. And finally, Whispering Winnie, where a painting of a little girl springs to life to tell you twisted, uncanny versions of your favorite fairy tales. We will be putting out one episode on YouTube a week, the shows alternate, one week Vision Quest, next week Winnie, OTS, and Lotho and so on. But the first drop will be one of each, coming out Thursday August 14th at 6pm. As we mentioned in the intro, we don't wanna overload your feed, just wanted to share a few of them with you guys. @StrangeMidnightAV on YouTube, TikTok & IG. ____________________________ Tonight belongs to Lotho.

Dog Breeding as a Vision Quest Host Laura Reeves is joined by NYT best-selling author David Wroblewski discussing dog breeding as a vision quest. Wroblewski is the author of The Story of Edgar Sawtelle and Familiaris both based on the life and history of fictional dog breeder Edgar Sawtelle and his family. “This sort of primal connection that we have with dogs, to me fundamentally is about how to live a larger, better life in a really broad sense,” Wroblewski said. “One of the things that you mentioned, kind of like in the theme of the novels, is the importance of creating something lasting and beautiful in the world. The idea that you're pursuing one impossible thing,” Reeves said. “And let me tell you, as somebody who has been breeding dogs since I was a child with my family and still am today, that basically defines our life. So talk to us a little bit about how you came to that and how you incorporated that into your novels.” “I think that there's only a couple of things that are worth writing about in the larger sense and one of them is love,” Wroblewski said. “And so I would hope that everything that I write is at some level and hopefully multiple levels a love story. But one of those love stories is the love of what you're trying to do in the world with your life. “I mean, we all need to pay the bills. There are plenty of things that are just functional things about day-to-day living, but there's also the larger meaning of what you're doing with your life. And I've been lucky to have to work with people in a number of different realms that are lucky enough to be able to say I'm not just trying to pay the mortgage. I'm trying to do something bigger than just me. “And one of the things that readers of Familiaris will run across partway through the book is a sort of accounting of this couple, John and Mary Sawtell. Familiaris is about this history of this kennel where everything takes place later for the Story of Edgar Sawtelle. But just an accounting of how all the work that they've done over the course of 40 years of raising dogs and placing them in the world, how that has accumulated and what the net effect across all human society has been. I feel like every time a dog gets placed with a thoughtful owner, that person's life has been changed forever.”
The Celebration Celebration: A Tour Through the Tours of Madonna!
Grab your popcorn (young Madonna's favorite food) because this week we're talking about Madonna's blink-and-you'll-miss-it film appearances. From a bar crooner in Vision Quest to a fencing instructor with attitude in Die Another Day, we're breaking down six roles where the Queen of Pop pops in, makes an impression, and vanishes just as quickly. We'll talk her tightrope walker in Shadows and Fog, the telegram-singing in Blue in the Face, camp witchery in Four Rooms, and sex-positivity in Girl 6.Are these forgettable cameos, or tiny gems that show off Madge's knack for stealing a scene? Either way, we're watching them all so you don't have to (but maybe you should).Plus: which cameo deserves a full spin-off? Which one made us cringe? And what does it say about Madonna's relationship to Hollywood that so many of her roles are... cameos? Here are links to those performances in case you want to follow along!Vision Quest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akUVYzA8G20Shadows and Foghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjXyTPyy60IBlue in the Face https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJ99leUQjgA&list=RDvJ99leUQjgA&start_radio=1Four Rooms https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYXZay3hQhMGirl 6https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmYQimfiCpkDie Another Day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjJE9f3fadwEmail us: TheCelebrationCelebration@gmail.comFollow us on Instagram: @TheCelebrationCelebrationPick up a copy of Eric's book: The Dancerhttps://a.co/d/0gAi3bePick up a copy of John's book: Baked! How do our human needs affect our judgement? What happens fro our decision making if our needs are not being met?Using Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, Bruce Wilson joins Chris and Jordy to discuss the relationship between needs and judgment.Bruce Wilson is an ACMG Hiking Guide, a sea kayak guide and guide trainer for the Association of Sea Kayak Guides. He is an avalanche educator for the Canadian Avalanche Association.Bruce is a certified instructor in the Wim Hof Method, he has a master's degree in leadership, and is a Vision Quest instructor, just to name a few of his many qualifications and certifications.Bruce currently instructs the Outdoor Recreation Management Program at Capilano University in North Vancouver. He also provides coaching and guiding through his company Warrior Wolf Guide Services and Coaching and teaches avalanche and survival courses for Canada West Mountain School. In this episode of Delivering Adventure, Bruce walks us through the intricacies of how needs affect judgment using real life stories and examples. This is a thoughtful and engaging conversation that ends with a look at how some First Nations peoples have prioritized human needs in relation to how we contribute within a community.Key TakeawaysHow do our needs affect our judgement?Needs Checklist: Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs works like a checklist that we can use to help us to identify where people are at and what needs to happen to enable them to reach their full potential.Psychological and Physiological Needs: When these needs are not being met, our entire focus can become consumed trying to meet them. This can cause us to develop tunnel vision as we work to get warmer or more comfortable. Being low on energy or being dehydrated can also erode our ability to collect and analyze information accurately.Safety and Security Needs: Our risk tolerance can cause us to perceive the risk around us in ways that are not accurate. If we do not feel that we are in a physically or psychological safe space, we are more likely to ignore our other needs like feeling connected socially to a group.Communicating Risk to Others: It's important to ensure that we are using language and framing information in a way that allows our audience to understand the risk accurately. This can help to improve their ability to make more informed choices.Love and Belonging Needs: People inherently want to feel that they are a part of the group. If they do not feel they belong to the group, they are more likely to make decisions that cause them to behave in a way where they are trying to increase their popularity. This can cause people to become manipulative or to undertake other attention seeking behaviours.Esteem Needs: If our esteem needs are not met, we are going to feel that we are not respected, and we may be less likely to trust others. When esteem needs are not met, we can start to develop self doubt. This can lead to us to second guess our choices. If our confidence is being eroded, it will directly undermine our competence.Self-Actualized Decision Making: This is when we can make reasoned and objective decisions by being open to the fact that we may not know everything. When we are self actualized, we are aware that we may not have all the answers and instead of having this undermine our confidence, it actually increases it.Guest BioWhen it comes to outdoor education and leadership training, Bruce is literally a Jack of all trades. After a brief break, the Episode One Podcast is back! And yes, we're covering another Comic Book show. The last of the current phase of MCU shows, Ironheart, spinning off from 2022's Wakanda Forever... in 2025.. is a six part series, but as usual, we only watched the first episode. Does this show hold up, does it reinvigorate us the way Daredevil did, does it make us want more MCU shows. (beyond Vision Quest and Wonder Man, the well is a bit dry). Also Steve's Father Bible has a youtube channel! Check out Father Bible's first short film here: https://www.youtube.com/@fatherbible
Episode Summary: In this episode of Challenge Accepted, Frank and Thomas break down the final three episodes of Ironheart, diving into how the show blends tech with magic, explores grief and mental health, and reintroduces Mephisto in a big way. From chaotic battles to powerful AI projections, they unpack the highs, lows, and everything in between. They discuss the MCU's shift into deeper themes, character arcs like The Hood's descent, Natalie's complex identity, and the MCU's growing use of magic as a tool for emotional storytelling. Timestamps and Topics: 00:00 Intro and spoiler warning 00:15 Initial reactions to the tone shift and episode structure 01:18 Magic in the MCU and Ironheart's connection 02:51 Mental health in Riri's journey 05:04 Natalie as therapy-influenced AI 06:57 AI vs memory: interpreting Natalie 10:15 White Castle fight scene and power scaling debate 12:02 Riri's engineering vs hand-to-hand combat 13:35 Zeke, The Hood, and the villain overload 14:41 Suit upgrades, magic montage, and chaos magic 17:06 Mephisto's role and Dormammu nod 24:07 Comic accuracy vs reinvention 25:57 MCU flexibility and changes to canon 28:54 Technology-meets-magic theme 31:01 AI projections and grief 33:04 MCU's future with Vision Quest and Ultron 35:03 Sacha Baron Cohen as Mephisto 36:37 The devil's deal and Natalie's return 37:25 Final suit thoughts 38:55 Thunderbolts, Champions, or New Avengers? 41:00 Post-credits scene breakdown 42:22 Hood's possible redemption 43:00 Final ratings and closing thoughts 44:44 Hopes for the MCU's next phase Key Takeaways: Ironheart explores mental health in nuanced ways, especially through Riri's breakdowns and support from Natalie. The show's shift into magic territory marks a new, risky direction for the character but pays off in Episode 6. Mephisto is back, and Sacha Baron Cohen's performance steals the show in just minutes. The Natalie AI walks a fine line between grief processing and synthetic memory. Riri's intelligence is highlighted less through her tech than it could've been—missed opportunities for showing her engineering skills. The MCU is clearly setting up more stories around AI, magic, and emotional cost, hinting at projects like Vision Quest, Armor Wars, and Doctor Strange 4. The Hood and Zelma Stanton's roles suggest major connections to Doctor Strange and Mephisto storylines ahead. Quotes: “Magic always takes something. It's not just about power—it's about sacrifice.” “Natalie is what your brain wants to hear, even if it's not what you need.” “They made Ironheart different from the comics, but if you're going to make big swings, at least make them interesting.” “Anthony Ramos brought heat. He made The Hood feel dangerous, sympathetic, and tragic—all in one season.” “That final suit? Bit Wakanda Forever. Still slick though.” Call to Action: Enjoyed the breakdown? In an episode that gets dangerously close to the three of us just shooting the breeze we cover some Superhero News that’s been floating around. Send us a text"My name's Louden, Louden Swain. Last week I turned 18. I wasn't ready for it. I haven't done anything yet. So I made this deal with myself. This is the year I make my mark."What to say about Vision Quest? It's a staple of any well rounded '80s film diet. Unless you're cutting weight at an unhealthy rate. And let it be known, since I don't think I quite drove it home during this episode....this is one of my all time (unlikely) favorite movies.Matthew Modine and Linda Fiorentino make this a most pleasurable trip into making one's mark on the eve of adulthood. Michael Schoeffling delivers as Kuch in one of the better roles of his short film career. Frank Jasper as Shute! A nicely stacked cast against a fantastically stacked soundtrack, with Tangerine Dream bringing up the rear on the score. As Elmo would say "it's ain't the one hour and forty seven minutes....it's what happens in the one hour and forty seven minutes." Fairly profound. He also said "A cooze doctor in outer space?", so...
Marvel fans, get ready! On this episode of The Kristian Harloff Show, Kristian is joined by co-hosts Coy Jandreau and Winston Marshal to break down the MASSIVE news: Marvel Studios has officially delayed AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY and AVENGERS: SECRET WARS release dates! The end of the Multiverse Saga is now coming later than expected, and we're diving deep into what this means for the entire MCU. Disney and Marvel Studios have announced that Avengers: Doomsday has been moved from May 1, 2026, to December 18, 2026. And Avengers: Secret Wars, meanwhile, will now open on December 17, 2027, after it was originally scheduled for May 7, 2027. While there's disappointment, were there telltale signs that Avengers: Doomsday might be delayed? We discuss why this feels like the right move, potentially giving both movies more time to shoot, increasing the odds of more actors being able to appear (like Tom Holland's Spider-Man!), and vastly extending that all-important post-production time. We also touch on the removal of an "Untitled Marvel Movie" from February 13, 2026, and other MCU title date changes. But the burning question is: What happens to SPIDER-MAN 4 now?! With "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" no longer opening between Doomsday and Secret Wars, we explore what this means for Spidey's next adventure and if it's more likely to be a street-level story. Could this be the perfect opportunity for the web-slinger? We're also tackling a huge RUMOR: The Russo Brothers are casting the MCU's new GHOST RIDER for AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY! Jeff Sneider confirmed that Marvel Studios and the Russos are in the process of casting the Spirit of Vengeance. Could we see Ghost Rider join the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four on screen against Doctor Doom? We'll discuss Ryan Gosling's previous comments about the role! Plus, we've got updates on the upcoming Disney+ series, VISION QUEST! Showrunner Terry Matalas confirms the show's place in the MCU timeline, revealing it directly follows White Vision's journey after WandaVision. We'll also break down the full list of confirmed writers for this highly anticipated series. OUR SPONSORS: TURTLE BEACH: Head to TurtleBeach.com and use code KRISTIAN for 10% off your entire order.
