We're back for another episode. This show we have a chat with the 2000 Brownlow Medalist Shane Woewodin. Shane played for both the Dees and Pies throughout his career.  To start, we look back at Shane's first severe injury back in 1995, a stress fracture in his foot and how he coped with getting back from such a serious injury early in his journey. We take a look at his current coaching role and what advice he gives to his own players about taking the next step, in rehab or even just their careers in general.  We finish with, some of our favourite sporting moments, we wish we could've been in attendance for. When you put them all out there it can be very difficult to choose.   Instagram: @underpressure1_ Twitter: @UnderPressure1_ Facebook: Under Pressure Podcast Youtube: Under Pressure Podcast   Music from Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/atm/follow-your-heart   Be sure to check out ‘The Inner Sanctum' socials and the website at theinnersanctum.com.au

Another great episode this week with former Richmond Tiger Jake Batchelor, he was drafted in 2010 and played 84 games down at Punt Rd. We talk through Jake's career and what he had to do to get back from certain injuries over his time in the AFL.  At this point in time Jake is living a passion of his and leading young men, as the Coach of Sandringham, as well as the backline development coach down at St Kilda. Whether something is bothering his players, injury related, playing related or off-field, Jake doesn't want his players to forget that they're just people first and just to be themselves. He learnt this piece of advice early in his coaching tenure under current Collingwood Coach Craig McRae and it will stay with him to the end of his coaching days. Finish off with 'the draft' as always and we look at some very special sporting grounds, arenas sporting centres in the draft this week. On this weeks episode we have a chat to Daniel Cross, a former Bulldog and Demon through his career in the AFL.  We have chat about an unfortunate position he found himself in early on in his career, when big ruckman Peter Street fell across his leg during training.  You never want to go through rehab alone, but it just so happened that Ryan Griffen had sustained an injury during the same day and subsequently found himself in the rehab group as well. This gave the two of them major support through their rehabilitation, when usually it's just you, yourself and your thoughts.  Daniel talks through his passion of conditioning and reconditioning and how training hard at young age lead him down the path of wanting to assist others in their own training. Which lead him to his position now at North Melbourne as their Reconditioning Coach.  The Under Pressure draft brings for some interesting choices, as we draft 'Players to have a shot after the siren to win the game.' Feature both players young and old, so tune in to see our selections!

On this weeks episode we talk to 200 gamer Mathew Stokes, who was a part of the successful era down at the cattery. He gave us great insight into the amount drive and work that he put in, when rehabbing, or even just training. There were so many great players down at Geelong in this time he was able to learn from, and keep meeting the high standards shown by these players and use them in his own training.  Nothing was given to Mat, he had at work extremely hard to get a chance at the elite level, being draft at the age of 21. But he learnt some great life lessons that put him good stead right throughout his career, that he still carries to this day. We also chat about the unfortunate timing of his injury in 2009 just before the preliminary final. If you're a Geelong fan you'll remember this moment. But he enlightens us of the full story, and puts it in full perspective for all of us. Mat is a big lover of US Sports so for the Under Pressure Draft this week, we draft our all time starting 5's that would take the court for us.

But when it came to the later part of his career, it was an Achilles injury that ultimately ended what had been such a promising career.  Jamie tells us the story of when he knew it was time and how difficult a conversation that was to have with his coach Michael Voss at the time, as he had played with the great man as well.  The draft this week was very relatable as we took turns in drafting some of the greatest ruckman of all-time. On this weeks show we have former Brisbane Lion and some would say cult hero in Daniel Merrett. He played his entire career down at 'The Gabba' where he experienced both highs and lows both on and off the field. The biggest thing for Dan during his time in the AFL, was professionalism and leadership not only off-field with injuries, but also on-field in those important matches. It was a main staple right throughout his career and something that he wanted to set the standard in. He had some injuries all players do, but also had Glandular Fever which many players wouldn't have experienced in their careers. It was difficult for him at a young age and going through this, tune in and listen to the story of how he was able to push through and get through the hard times. We finish with 'The Draft' and we take a look at sports, that if we could, turn pro tomorrow. There were some interesting but definitely warranted choices.    Instagram: @underpressure1_ Twitter: @UnderPressure1_ Facebook: Under Pressure Podcast Youtube: Under Pressure Podcast

Former Swan Alex Johnson joins Jake on the pod, as the total number of ACL injuries grows to 10 for today's show.  It's fair to say Alex's career got off to a flying start. In his second year, the young swan played off in the 2012 AFL Grand Final against the Hawks and achieving the ultimate, in his just his second year of senior footy.  But what would follow, is a devastating and heartbreaking story that saw Alex go through 7 ACL tears through is AFL career. Players who go through, let alone one, know that it takes a lot of mental strength to get through it. But to endure 7 of them and have the drive, determination and mental endurance, with obviously some small and warranted hiccups along the way, got through and got the reward and effort by earning his spot back into the AFL. It was 2,136 days between appearances for Alex, until he took the field in Round 20 vs Collingwood in the 2018 season. This was a game earned, and was, and still is the epitome of hard work to get back to what you want to do. We're back, the Under Pressure Podcast has returned for Year 3 and what an exciting year its going to be. On the first episode of the new year we have former West Coast Eagle and premiership player Beau Waters join Jake on the Pod. Beau had an interested start to his career, he had an injury not as common around the game as it use to be, osteitis pubis, the dreaded OP as they called it back then. As a young player, it was certainly something massive to deal with.  But Beau took it in stride and gained great perspective from this injury and started using his time to not only take care of himself but get involved in charity side of things with the Eagles and helping others.  To finish we talked about a shoulder injury, that unfortunately forced the retirement of Beau. After a lot of hard work, Beau knew it was time to hang them up. He knew that he had a wonderful career, and a lot people don't get the chance, so he was grateful of the opportunities that he had to play the great game of AFL.    Music from Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/atm/follow-your-heart License code: K1NWNOJAZWRQOMHC   Instagram: @underpressure1_ Twitter: @UnderPressure1_ Facebook: Under Pressure Podcast Youtube: Under Pressure Podcast

Today's show we sit down with former Lion and Sun who played 243 games, Michael Rischitelli, and have a chat about his time in the AFL and the injuries that surrounded his career.  Michael was lucky not to go through many serious injuries in his time, but when you injure your ACL and then also have shoulder surgery as well, you become very limited in what you can do. He enlightens us with the story around that difficult time.  We chat through a very funny story that occurred at a Brownlow medal night a few years before he finished up. He wasn't in attendance but his phone was blowing up about half way through the night.  The draft was a difficult one today, not because there wasn't much to choose from, but the fact that there was just so many athletes to choose from. But in 2008, his first major came as he tore his Syndesmosis, which saw him have to wear a moon boot for the following 6 months.  Which then continued on into some further issues as he was injured, the self-worth and the doubt started to creep into his mind. He had to distract himself from these things, which lead him down the path he certainly didn't want to be down and not using the right coping strategies to help himself.  He talks through his thoughts he had during this difficult period in his life and gives great insights into what its like and what you can do when you're facing challenges like these yourself and know there are ways to help and assist.  We talk about the amazing premiership drought that was broken this year by the Dees and how connected you still feel to your club post career and how important it is to keep those relationships moving forward in life.  We finish off the podcast as we always do, with a draft. It saw Hart miss out on the 2004 Grand final and this play turned out to be the last play the 2001 Norm Smith Medalist was involved in, in his career.  Was a very difficult draft this week, as Shaun and Jake look at drafting 5 players each to start up the the new 19th AFL franchise.  SOCIALS: Instagram: @underpressure1_ Twitter: @UnderPressure1_ Facebook: Under Pressure Podcast Youtube: Under Pressure Podcast   Music from Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/atm/follow-your-heart License code: NA7SHXWVCK6RPUMB
