We have arrived at the final season of VFL football, a season of football etched in the annals of history. To celebrate, here is part 1/3 of our take on the season. So we talk about the bottom 8 teams, and get into The Bears' coaching scramble, the terrible weather, Plugger's dominant first half of the year, Carlton's 125th year as a disaster, and Greg Williams' dominance (when not suspended). Here we are with the second part of the 1988 season (sorry for the delay). We'll dive into the top 5 before really discussing the finals. We learned about a controversial preliminary final we had never known about and we discuss the dominance of Hawthorn, a vintage Dermie year... in what was an incredibly dominant season. All this and more in the episode. We have had quite the issue with our software as of late, and this was our second take recording this. It is quite frustrating at times, so many apologies for that. The issue will be fixed for the 89 season. Imagine being the CEO of numerous famous sporting clubs while silently (and secretly) dealing with ongoing depression. Well, that was Cam Schwab's reality for decades. At 24, Cam became the youngest ever CEO of a VFL/AFL club when he took the helm of Richmond for six years. He would later go on to fill the same role (CEO) at both the Fremantle and Melbourne Football Clubs. Every time Cam and I get together, we get lost down the conversational and philosophical rabbit hole but have fun doing it. This was no exception.
