We welcome Brad Bechel to this episode of Dave Tate's Table Talk Podcast!   Brad Bechel is the Head Coach of the McKendree University Powerlifting Team and a cornerstone in the collegiate powerlifting scene. With a lifting career dating back to the early 2000s, Brad has worn many hats in the strength world—athlete, coach, gym owner, physical therapist assistant, and Army veteran. His well-rounded background and relentless work ethic have fueled one of the most consistently successful collegiate programs in the country.   Since taking over as head coach in 2021, Brad has led McKendree University to multiple top-five national finishes at Collegiate Nationals and helped produce standout athletes, including two collegiate national champions and two IPL world champions. His team also secured an IPL North American Team Championship under his guidance. Prior to that, he served as the team's assistant coach from 2019 to 2021, helping to lay the groundwork for their current dominance.   Brad's coaching philosophy centers around developing strong foundations, especially among youth and junior athletes. He sees strength training as more than just lifting—it's a tool for discipline, confidence, and lifelong growth. His passion for mentoring the next generation is evident both on the platform and off.   Beyond McKendree, Brad serves as the USAPL Illinois State Chair, actively shaping the sport at a regional level. His experience spans federations and athlete levels, making him a well-rounded and respected leader in powerlifting. From 2014 to 2018, Brad worked as a physical therapist assistant and gym owner, which gave him a deep understanding of movement quality, recovery, and athlete longevity.   Brad's educational background includes a B.S. in Healthcare Management and an A.A.S. in Physical Therapist Assisting. He also served in the U.S. Army from 2005 to 2009, a period that helped forge the discipline and leadership he brings to every coaching role.   Follow Brad's coaching and team updates on Instagram: @coach_bradly_bechel     THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS  Get 10% OFF Your Next Marek Health Labs (CODE: TABLETALK): https://marekhealth.com/ Get a FREE LMNT Sample Pack: https://partners.drinklmnt.com/free-gift-with-purchase?utm_campaign=agwp&am…   Save Up to $315 at Sleepme: https://sleep.me/tabletalk Get 10% OFF RP Hypertrophy App (CODE: TABLE TALK) :https://go.rpstrength.com/hypertrophy-app/  Get 10% OFF at elitefts (CODE: TABLE TALK): https://www.elitefts.com/  Get 10% OFF at Granite Nutrition (CODE TABLETALK): https://granitenutrition.com/ Save $250 at the Business of Strength Retreat 2025 (CODE: Elite250): https://bosretreat.com/     SUPPORT THE SHOW    All profits from elitefts Limited Edition Apparel, Table Talk Coffee, and Team elitefts Workouts, Programs, and Training eBooks support Dave Tate's Table Talk Podcast.    elitefts Shop: https://www.elitefts.com/  elitefts IG: https://www.instagram.com/elitefts/    elitefts  Limited Edition Apparel: https://www.elitefts.com/shop/apparel/limited-edition.html

The trio dives into everything from Nicholas Pooran’s surprise retirement to picking their World Cup XI vs India XI teams, debating which cricketers deserve a biopic, and hilariously deciding which actors should play them. There’s also a tribute to MS Dhoni being inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, and a laugh-filled attempt to explain RCB's hypothetical IPL ban to an 8-year-old. They also tackle serious and silly topics alike—talking about stampedes and stadium safety, underrated IPL bowlers, and the totally unexpected return of Vijay Mallya “after years”. Packed with sharp banter, ridiculous hypotheticals, and real cricket analysis (kind of), this episode is the perfect blend of comedy and commentary you didn’t know you needed.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Hosts Benny and Mayank engage in an in-depth discourse regarding the World Test Championship (WTC), welcoming back special guest Ben Brettell to lend his insights. The episode's primary focus revolves around the inherent flaws within the WTC's current structure, particularly its contrasting methodology compared to traditional Test rankings. We delve into the implications of such disparities and the overall excitement surrounding the impending Test summer in England, highlighted by the upcoming WTC final featuring Australia and South Africa. In our conversation, we reflect upon the significance of competitive integrity and the necessity for structural evolution within Test cricket to ensure its future relevance. Through this exchange, we aim to enrich our audience's understanding of the nuances and complexities underpinning Test cricket's landscape today.Takeaways: RCB's recent IPL victory is a monumental achievement after 18 years, finally bringing joy to their passionate fanbase. The disparity between the ICC Test rankings and the World Test Championship standings raises essential questions about their effectiveness. The World Test Championship is critiqued for its complexity. Many fans find it difficult to understand the qualification and ranking systems. Australia is favored to win the upcoming WTC final due to their strong form, although South Africa has the potential to cause an upset. The current WTC structure faces challenges in ensuring equal opportunities for all teams, particularly those with fewer matches against top-tier opponents. There is an ongoing debate regarding the future of Test cricket and potential adaptations, such as four-day Tests and day-night matches, to maintain its relevance. In this episode of the show, it's a full house and a packed runsheet with RCB winning IPL 2025, the Black Caps naming a new coach and an updated central contract list, England announcing their squad for the first Test against India and preview of the World Test Championship Final between Australia and South Africa. We start the show by talking about the IPL final, which saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeat the Punjab Kings to take out the title for the first time in 18 years. There's praise for Krunal Pandya's match-defining spell, RCB's middle order and a generous backyard cricket invitation for Virat Kohli now that he's ticked another item off his bucket list. Next we move to New Zealand to talk Black Caps announcements, with Rob Walter named as the new head coach with the latest batch of central contracts offered shortly after. There's talk about the faith shown in Walter by NZC, Gary Stead's legacy, the uncharacteristically youthful look to the contract list and Devon Conway's future. We swing back to the UK to discuss another announcement - this time the England squad for the first Test against India. Gus Atkinson is out with injury and Jofra Archer's not quite ready, so does that leave England with enough bowling quality to take 20 wickets? And will there be a spot in the starting XI for Jacob Bethell? To round out the show, we discuss the upcoming World Test Championship Final between Australia and South Africa at Lord's. Who will open for the Aussies? Where will Cameron Green slot in? Can South Africa score enough runs to challenge? What should we expect from the pitch? Does the WTC have a scheduling problem? And who will win? We'll be back in your feed next week to review the WTC final and preview the India v England Test series. On this week's Stumped with Alison Mitchell, Jim Maxwell & Charu Sharma, the team ask whether Virat Kohli has finally completed cricket after getting his hands on the trophy that has eluded him throughout his stellar white ball career. He won the Indian Premier League with Royal Challengers Bengaluru after 18 years and over 260 matches, having first been drafted by them back in 2008, and he's been loyal to them too - the only player to have played for just one team in all 18 IPL seasons. The team also reflect on the sad scenes in Bangalore, after eleven people died and dozens were injured in a crush as fans flocked to the Chinnaswamy stadium at an event to welcome the team back home to Bangalore. Plus, we hear from South Africa Test captain Temba Bavuma ahead of the World Test Championship final. Bavuma tells us that Kagiso Rabada has apologised to his teammates and that they're supporting him as much as they can following his recent one month ban from cricket after he tested positive for use of a recreational drug.Photo: Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifts the IPL trophy alongside teammates following the team's victory in the 2025 IPL Final match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings at Narendra Modi Stadium on June 03, 2025, in Ahmedabad, India. This is the Catchup on 3 Things by The Indian Express and I'm Flora Swain.Today is the 5th of June and here are the headlines.1. Karnataka HC Seeks Report on RCB Victory Parade StampedeThe Karnataka High Court has directed the state government to submit a detailed report on the tragic stampede at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB's IPL victory parade, which killed 11 and injured 33. The court seeks clarity on causes, preventability, and future safeguards. CM Siddaramaiah ordered a magisterial probe led by Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner. Overcrowding—2–3 lakh attendees in a stadium built for 35,000—caused chaos. Compensation of ₹10 lakh and free treatment was announced.2. Rafale Jet Fuselages to Be Made in India by TataIn a significant move for India's defence sector, Tata Advanced Systems will produce Rafale fighter jet fuselages in Hyderabad under a new deal with France's Dassault Aviation. This marks the first time Rafale components will be manufactured outside France. The Hyderabad plant will build key sections including front, central, and rear fuselages. Production will start by FY 2027-28, with capacity to deliver two fuselages per month. The facility will serve both Indian and international markets.3. Mahua Moitra Marries Former BJD MP Pinaki MisraTMC MP Mahua Moitra, known for her strong speeches in Parliament, has married Supreme Court lawyer and former BJD MP Pinaki Misra. The couple tied the knot in a quiet ceremony in Berlin, Germany, on May 30. Moitra confirmed the marriage to The Indian Express. A photograph of the newlyweds at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate has surfaced and was published by The Telegraph, drawing attention to their low-profile union amid Moitra's high-profile political life.4. Trump Reinstates Controversial Travel Ban on 12 NationsUS President Donald Trump has reinstated a sweeping travel ban impacting citizens from 12 countries, including Iran, Yemen, and Somalia, while tightening restrictions on seven others. Effective from Monday, the rollout includes a short grace period to avoid past chaos. The updated ban builds on a version upheld by the US Supreme Court. Additional curbs now apply to travellers from countries like Cuba, Laos, and Venezuela. Trump cited national security as the key reason for the move.5. Trump Suspends Harvard Exchange Visas in Escalating DisputePresident Donald Trump has signed a proclamation suspending foreign nationals enrolled in exchange programs at Harvard University, escalating tensions between the White House and the Ivy League institution. The directive also asks the State Department to consider revoking visas of some current international students. Harvard alleges political retaliation after it resisted federal pressure to alter its governance and curriculum. The suspension is part of Trump's broader push to regulate academic institutions seen as ideologically opposed. That's all for today. This was the Catchup on 3 Things by The Indian Express.

This is the Catchup on 3 Things by The Indian Express and I'm Flora Swain.Today is the 4th of June and here are the headlines.1. Multi-party Delegation Briefs EAM on Anti-Terror Diplomacy TourA multi-party delegation led by BJP leader Baijayant Panda met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar after returning from visits to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria to rally support against Pakistan-backed terrorism. The team included MPs and leaders across party lines, including Asaduddin Owaisi and Ghulam Nabi Azad. The delegation briefed Jaishankar on their findings, highlighting India's global rise under PM Modi. They said India's economic and diplomatic strength is helping forge international partnerships on trade and counterterrorism. Jaishankar lauded their outreach efforts.2. Monsoon Session of Parliament Set to Begin July 21Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced that the Monsoon session of Parliament will begin on July 21 and run until August 12. The session was recommended by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will convene at 11 a.m. after a three-month recess. The session's announcement comes amid calls by opposition parties for an urgent special session to discuss Operation Sindoor—India's major military strike on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir earlier this year.3. Punjab YouTuber Held for Links to Pakistan Spy NetworkPunjab Police arrested Jasbir Singh, a YouTuber from Rupnagar, for alleged involvement in a Pakistani spy network. Singh, who runs the channel ‘Jaan Mahal', was nabbed by the State Special Operations Cell in Mohali. Authorities say he is linked to Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, a Pakistani intelligence operative, and maintained close ties with Haryana YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra—previously arrested on similar charges—and a Pakistani High Commission official. The espionage network is believed to be terror-backed. Investigations are ongoing into the extent of Singh's involvement and communication with Pakistan-based handlers.4. RCB Victory Parade Cancelled, Celebration at Stadium InsteadRoyal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cancelled its IPL victory parade on Wednesday, originally planned from Vidhan Soudha to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Bengaluru Traffic Police confirmed the cancellation, stating the team would instead meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the Vidhan Soudha. A celebration is now scheduled at the stadium. RCB had earlier announced the parade on social media, thanking fans for their unwavering support over 18 seasons. The franchise won its first IPL title this year, prompting city-wide excitement. Fans can now attend the celebration directly at the stadium later today.5. Trump Doubles Tariffs on Global Steel, Aluminium ImportsU.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order Tuesday doubling tariffs on nearly all steel and aluminium imports to 50 percent, citing national security concerns. The hike—effective Wednesday—follows his 2018 move imposing 25 percent tariffs under the Trade Expansion Act's Section 232. The UK, which recently signed a trade deal with the U.S., is exempt and will maintain the current 25 percent rate. Trump's decision marks a significant escalation in his administration's trade policy, as Washington continues to pressure nations for fairer deals and increased domestic metal production. That's all for today. In this hilariously unfiltered AMA episode, Cyrus and Shamik tackle the truly important questions of our time. With the rail budget going up, should we expect trains to finally run on time—or just more confident announcements? They debate what one really needs to survive a 4 km walk to a Guns N’ Roses concert: water, willpower, or a cardboard cutout of Slash. There’s talk of a potential Hera Pheri: South Bombay Edition, a suggestion that Neeraj Chopra might just double as a missile launcher, and whether Uorfi Javed’s Cannes moment has emotionally prepared us for her Met Gala debut. Plus, is the $3500 iPhone actually just an “iLoan” now? Should AppleCare come with financial counselling? And with the IPL being rained out left and right, is it time to rename it the Indian Puddle League—or just switch to water polo? All this and more, on a rain-soaked, tech-broke, fashion-forward episode of Cyrus Says.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
