In this episode, we're joined by Paige Hadley to explore the challenges athletes face balancing their professional and personal lives, the importance of brand partnerships for financial stability and exposure, the lack of visibility for netball compared to other sports along with strategies for international growth in the sport, and Paige's experience dealing with her injury during the Commonwealth Games, including the physical and mental challenges she encountered. Paige Hadley is an Australian netball player known for her representation in the Australian national team, The Diamonds, and the Suncorp Super Netball for the New South Wales Swifts. Hadley's netball career began at a young age in Sydney, leading her to success in the Australian Netball League and earning her a scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport in 2012. Despite facing injuries, including a knee injury in 2013 and a ruptured ACL in 2014, she made comebacks and contributed to Australia's victory in the 2015 Netball World Cup. Throughout her career, Hadley has showcased resilience and talent, solidifying her place as a key player in the world of netball. She has recently competed in the 2023 Netball World Cup, bringing home the gold for Australia, achieved 50 games for the national team, and been named player of the series. Passionate is an understatement for how Melbourne Vixens co-captain and Diamonds player, Kate Moloney, feels about her beloved sport of netball. But passion isn't always enough, and being left off the start list for Commonwealth Games team and World Cups team was still a bitter pill for Kate to swallow. In this episode, Kate speaks with with host Sam Squiers about: Progressing through the netball pathway and becoming teammates with women who inspired her What she learned working with young people in a juvenile detention centre Being selected for the Melbourne Vixens and why she's stuck with the team for so long Captaining the Vixens from premiers to bottom of the ladder Getting the call to play in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham Her thoughts on the infamous Suncorp Super Netball super shot And what she would change if she was the CEO of netball for a day If you liked this episode, you should check out our episodes with netballers Sam Wallace, Ash Brazill, Laura Geitz, Jemma Mi Mi and Melbourne Vixens CEO Rosie King. Amy Parmenter is a really amazing human. She plays netball for the GIANTS in Suncorp Super Netball and has recently spent time in the Australian Diamonds training camp before the team netted off for the Quad Series in England. Amy has made a name for herself on the court as a tenacious WD, but her off-court achievements are just as, if not more impressive. Amy is currently studying a double degree of Law / Advertising and has also managed to raise tens of thousands of dollars for cancer research through her charity The Tie Dye Project.
