Taking the leap into full-time massage is a dream for many practitioners, but it can feel daunting. Whether you're just starting out or looking to make the transition from a part-time role, the step to full time is one that requires courage, planning, and action. Kristin and Darren are joined by Elicia Crook to talk about what's holding people back from taking the leap in becoming a solo practitioner, and ideas to help them overcome the fear of being a business owner. Resources: Elicia Crook is a business coach and mentor for massage therapists, sharing the tactics she used to create her business success over 16 years. She is a diploma-qualified remedial massage therapist, using modalities such as Bowen and craniosacral therapy, and has a Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, which she used while teaching massage for several years. Through her career and business experience, Crook discovered who she needed to be and what is required to run a deeply satisfying massage business. Now she takes the Fully Booked Without Burnout blueprint to other therapists around the world to create more success and passion. Today on The Penis Project Project podcast I speak with Louise Hug. I work closely with Louise as she sees many of the men that I see pre-prostatectomy and she does women's pelvic health too, so we cross paths quite a bit. Sometimes men tell me snippets of their consultations with Louise, and she has some great tips to share and ways of explaining pelvic floor training. So, for today's episode I have asked her to share them with you. About Louise: Pelvic Health Physiotherapist MClin (Pelvic Health and Continence) BSc (Physiotherapy), APAM, MACP She completed her Undergraduate Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Notre Dame, then commenced work at a private practice shortly after graduating. In 2021 she completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Continence and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy, followed by completion of Clinical Masters, majoring in Pelvic Health and Continence Physiotherapy. Following Graduation, she worked with Dr Judith Thompson (Physiotherapist PhD) who I have interviewed previously the podcast. She worked musculoskeletal physiotherapy for eight years treating neck, back and pelvic girdle pain with both hands-on and gym-based treatment. In 2015 she developed an interest in core activation, breath work and muscle balance for rehabilitation, subsequently completing a Cert IV in Pilates. In her early sporting life, she was a full-time gymnast until the age of 13 and enjoyed tennis, pilates, swimming and barre. These experiences gave her an understanding of injury management and prevention. This is what motivates her to assist others with their return to daily life and sport, not only post-injury but also after life events such as vaginal delivery and caesarean section, as well as gynaecological, breast cancer and prostate surgery. She has completed several courses upskilling in Women's and Men's Urinary Continence and Ano-Rectal Dysfunction expanding her knowledge, leading to a passion in the field of Pelvic Health. She provides treatment that has evidence-based support. She is passionate about assisting both male and female patients with their bladder, bowel, and sexual function. In this episode of The Savvy Dentist Podcast, Dr. Jesse Green is joined by HR specialist, Jackie Strachan from HR Tactics. Jackie's passion for creating better Human Resources outcomes stems from over 20 years' experience in the field and a drive for finding innovative solutions. Recruiting the ‘right' people, and keeping the right people is an ongoing challenge we all face when running any size business. If you do not have a recruitment process, then this episode is going to help you develop one, plus specifically guide you through how to advertise to recruit great people for your practice. The goal is to not be at the whim of people leaving your practice, where you have to recruit in a knee jerk manner. This always results in productivity headaches because when someone leaves you've got to spend time recruiting to get people on board and it takes time to train them and get them up to speed. Then if that first person that you've hired doesn't work out, you're back to square one. Jackie's HR career has seen her hold both operational and strategic HR management roles across a vast array of industry sectors including retail, financial services, child protection, professional services, dental, state emergency services, Department of Justice, agency recruitment and IT. Jackie is a Certified Professional Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI), holds an MBA from QUT, a Cert IV in Training & Assessment, and accreditation as a facilitator of ‘Extended Disc' Psychometric Employee Profiling. [4:14] - The most common challenges dental practices face in regard to the recruitment process. [10:36] - Your recruitment process gives you the opportunity to sell your business to find the right applicant. [17:40] - How to write a great recruitment ad for your practice. [20:36] - How to create your recruitment process. [27:17] - How should your onboarding process align with your recruitment process? [29:34] - What ‘Day 1' should look like for your new recruit. [35:22] - What your new recruit should be thinking at the end of their first week. HR peeps call it ‘The Employee Experience'. [44:25] - A wrap up of the 6 steps to your recruitment process.
Leslie Crudup Villagarcia is a distinguished life coach, recognized for her dedication to fostering purpose-driven lives aligned with individual values rather than societal expectations. With an educational background including an MA in Applied Linguistics and a Cert IV in Life Coaching, Leslie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her coaching practice. She is the founder of Leslie V. Coaching, where she specializes in a variety of areas, including acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, bibliotherapy and narrative therapy. Leslie offers coaching programs tailored to individuals, couples, and groups, providing services online via Zoom and in-person. Leslie is not just a life coach; she is also a proud queer, polyamorous woman of colour and an ally for marginalized groups, advocating for racial and social equity. Her work is informed by her extensive experience as an educator, trainer, curriculum developer, e-learning designer and workshop facilitator across Australia, Europe, Asia, and the US. Leslie's approach to coaching is pragmatic and grounded, emphasizing the importance of hard work and commitment to achieving personal goals while avoiding the pitfalls of toxic positivity and spiritual bypassing. In addition to her coaching practice, Leslie hosts the "Thriving Between the Lines" podcast, where she and her co-host, Meka, explore personal development books through the lens of intersectionality. This podcast aims to make self-help content more accessible and relatable by addressing the often-overlooked impact of privilege on success and highlighting the experiences of people from marginalized communities. In this episode, Leslie provides a snapshot of her life and articulates her views, knowledge and sheer deep understanding on the world, different cultures and a number of topics that many shy away from. She challenges the standard narrative or view within society and mainstream media, prompting some great questions and different ways of looking at a range of diverse topics. The key element that Steve took away and found extremely beneficial was "taking into account the "lived experience" component when it comes to looking at issues, different opinions and views within the world. "Embrace imperfections" is a motto/ podcast rule that we have run with for quite some time now however, in this week's episode, Mickus produces one of the greatest imperfections we have seen! Leigh and Gode get so off track on pun runs on two particular occasions that no one is really even sure what Gode ends up saying! Skin is at his usual hateful best when it comes to the puns. Skin is also pressed for some guesses about what type of guy Pythagoras was, and how many times we can use his theorem throughout an episode. In this episode we're talking to coach Meghann Birks about being gifted and having ADHD, late-in-life diagnosis, lived experience of ADHD, how we can manage from day to day, the challenges, the strengths, parenting and so much more. Memorable quote… “ “I think that the flip side of this is that there are things I found challenging as an adult and as a mother, that when I started to really understand my brain, the perspective changed. And then there was another layer of perspective shift for me that came when I started to do the work on reparenting myself. My 10-year-old son is constantly doing cartwheels and running around and I used to get quite resentful, especially in public spaces. I'm like, don't run into people. Be quiet. You know? All those social norms that we all feel the pressure of… And when I realised, my therapist asked me, ‘what was something you needed as a child that you didn't have?' And my answer immediately was, I needed someone who could keep up with me. And immediately I went, I get to be that for him. And I can't always physically keep up with him because he is 10 and I am in my mid forties. However, I can give you the space for that exuberance to exist. And there is a huge part of the work that I do, especially with women, which coincides with midlife… Where a lot of the work that women do in midlife is far from a crisis. It is a reclamation of who we were before the world stamped it out of us.” - Meghann Birks Bio… Meghann Birks, is an Embodiment Coach and Trauma Informed Professional Trainer based on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula where she lives with her partner and two highly spirited boys. “I'm a coach, writer, dancer, Steel Mace Flow Coach and wannabe surf goddess who loves creating, coffee, lifting heavy, movement and sleep. I also have a wonderfully neurodivergent brain that shows itself via ADHD and I'm passionate about helping women with this diagnosis create an incredible life where they can flourish. I am fascinated by the stories we tell ourselves, how they impact us and how we can, with proper support, change the narrative to move us toward a pure and joyful expression of who we are and why we're here.” She holds the designation of Certified Professional Coach from the International Coach Academy, one of the world's leading training organisations. This intensive course covered an array of learning modules and she was required to coach both internal and external clients under supervision from a Master Coach before she received her certificate. She also holds: Cert III in Fitness, Cert IV in Fitness (Personal Training), Completion of the Wim Hof Method Fundamentals Course, Numerous qualifications in the area of program design and facilitation, Steel Mace Flow Coach Level 1, Certificate in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy from The Embody Lab, and ‘An Advanced Degree from the School of Hard Knocks, as some of my super fun eff-ups in life are the reason I am now so good at what I do.' - - - - More… Enjoyed the podcast? I feel very lucky to get to talk to incredible chefs, most of them with many year's experience in the industry. I often ask chefs what their advice would be to people at the start of their career and I have heard so many gems. It seems apt then, every now and then to chat to one of those chefs who might appreciate that advice, someone who is just starting out and to hear how things are going as they embark on their journey. Dev Gandhi is one of these young chefs. Dev got in touch with me through Instagram to say how much he enjoyed Conversation with a chef and to invite me to his inaugural Cooking, Culture, Connection event. I couldn't make it, unfortunately, but I could tell that he was passionate about what he was doing and I invited him onto the podcast. Dev moved to Melbourne from India a year ago to study cookery at Le Cordon Bleu. Dev and I talked about what made him swap finance for food, as well as how it is all going now he has his Cert. III, is working on Cert IV as well as working for Delaware North at the MCG and running his passion project, Cooking, Culture, Connection. We also talked about his childhood food memories and how inspirational his mum was and is in it all. Dev's eyes light up when he talks about food and this was a lovely conversation.

In episode 79 of The C-Word we chat with Rohan Martin, our new producer! Rohan first picked up the guitar around the age of 9, which sparked a snowball of his life into music. He completed a Cert IV in music whilst still living down south in Capel, but then moved to Perth in 2011 to further his study and look into more opportunities to further his music. He studied sound production for 3 years whilst playing guitar in a few bands and developing connections with other local acts. This sparked him producing a tonne of local bands who have gone on to receive rotation on Triple J and win WAM awards. After playing guitar in bands for about 5 years, he started his own band "Dear Soldier" in 2016, as both guitarist and a vocalist, which continues to be his main musical outlet to this day. He began working at The Hen House at the start of 2019 after many years of rehearsing there himself and continues to work with local acts in the never-ending battle of trying to make music "full time”. We spend a lot of time being told it's all about affirmations. You'll get everything you want if you just affirm it. I'm going to challenge that. I wanna introduce a concept called Interrogative Self-Talk - getting a conversation with ourselves going. It's super cool. Here's why: Our brain is wired to believe. So, how do we get to the place where we can believe in order to achieve? We gotta actually challenge ourselves. Rationally we then put into order and make sense of things and then work out a way to believe and therefore achieve. Try it out. Boom. One way to affirm stuff is with I'm hosting a "Lunch n' Learn" at 12:07 MST Wednesday November 25th (6:07 AEST Thursday November 26th... "Breaky n' Brains" ??) In 2018 I decided I wanted to interview drummers and get their insight on their favourite beverages and what their practice routines looked like. Fact is, I want to level up my game so what better than to interview the best at what they do to see if there's a common theme... right? I sat down with my pal Jesse Boland, fellow Los Cabos Drumstick Artist, bomb-ass drummer and coffee connoisseur on break at Arvo, downtown Toronto and this happened. Paradiddles, Moehler, Swiss Army Triplets all over an obnoxious amount of caffeine. You can watch the full video on youtube here: Brewdiments Season 1, Episode 1: Arvo Coffee & Jesse Boland Thank you for your understanding on the background noise volume. I was learning how to mic things properly and have since seen major improvements. Your tolerance is appreciated and I just wanted to ensure you know that I know It's not my finest audio quality. Check out Jesse here. If you're in the Distillery district of Toronto, head over to Arvo. LET ME KNOW WHAT'S GOOD! If you would liek me to bring back the Brewdiments show, please, lemme know. Shout out to Z-Trip for last week's conversation and turning me on to Todd Henry's "Accidental Creative". This book has given me such a lift I wanted to share with you guys today one of my big takeaways in finding my purpose and re-aligning my goals with that after a fairly frustrating, confusing and isolated last couple of weeks. I'm back on track and I'm excited to share with you the 7 Word Bio practice to help you re-identify with yourself if you've been feeling the same since Mercury Retrograde. Dig into Todd Henry and his first book "Accidental Creative" at accidentalcreative.com Dig into Z-trip at djztrip.com Z-Trip also did the sick remix of one of Todd's podcasts. Think motivational speaking mixed with rad beats. It's unreal. Highly recommend. https://soundcloud.com/z-trip/adaptive-rhythms-z-trip-remix And as usual, please let me know what you thought. How do you do clinical Pilates online? How is diagnosis done on Zoom? How do masterclasses work? Do I have to attend the lectures live? What equipment do I need to do the course? What is the early bird discount? Is there RPL? Can I do the course if I'm currently studying the Cert IV in Pilates?
When Joe Carter hit that 3 run blast in the bottom of the 9th in Game 6 of the '93 World Series, he went against all odds, in a 2-2 count, 1 away and 2 on base... Just goes to show how valuable patience is. In sports, as is in life you've got to wait for your pitch. You will have to overcome adversity and the better you get at trusting the process, Immersing yourself in positive environments, keeping close those around you that help push you towards limits you didn't even know you had, you will get to that next level. Be like Joe. Be clutch. WARNING – In Today's podcast we are going to talk about death, loss OF A LOVED ONE, suicide and mental health and self care. This podcast may not be for you or this may trigger you in some way so please turn off if this is too much or ensure you have support and use your coping tools and self care strategies If you are triggered by this podcast.I met Emma back in September 2017 when she attended my Training Company to do a course, she said "I just needed to do something" and here we are in 2020 and Emma is now completing 3 more Cert IV qualifications so she can help those in the community at risk.Emma shares how Jamie was involved with drugs and gangs and how this life looked lavish on the outside but was very different on the inside. After Jamie was incarcerated Emma shares how he was never the same, jail changed him so profoundly and his mental health spiraled out of control. As we continue to talk about what Emma was going through it's so very apparent how much she struggled with the loss of Jamie after he took his own life. Emma describes feeling numb and watching the world keep moving around her even though she felt numb and unable to go on.We talk about what changed for Emma when she sat by the ocean as the sun came up and something inside told her their is more to life and its time to move on and start a journey, "I don't know what that is but I just have to do something". And so began hope and with the support of family and friends Emma started to do the work. Self Love, Self Care and just the idea of hope can change the world. I am so grateful for Emma's Courage and vulnerability in this podcast and I hope that it reaches those that need it most.If you would like to give us feedback or suggest a topic for our podcast please go to our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/theresiliencemovement and direct message me.Remember to subscribe and share our podcast as you never know who this could support.

You’re in Queensland now in Byron Bay. Typically, I’m calling somebody over in the states or on the other side of the world somewhere, but how are you? Kristan 02:03 I’m really good, actually. It’s a sunny, amazing day outside and I’m like, “Oh, winter’s in Queensland.” Stu 02:10 It’s not too bad, is it? Thank you so much for sharing some of your time. I know we’re going to dig deep into a couple of topics that I think will really interest our audience today. But first up, for all of our listeners that may not be familiar with you or your work, I would love it. If you could just tell us a little bit about yourself, please. Kristan 02:28 Absolutely. So I’m a mom to three. And believe it or not, you won’t have caught this, I could have warned you before and I’m sorry for it, but it’s pronounced Kristan, just to throw people because you’ll hear it pronounced different ways. Behaviour and Learning difficulties in children with Naturopath Gloria Cicchini. In the episode Gloria and I chat all about kids and in particular behavioural issues related to health and what we can do about it. We discuss: →What are the aspects that play part with learning and behavioural difficulties. →What are the most important things that need to be addressed. →A stepped approach to addressing these issues. →Importance of chemical and preservative free food. →Heavy metals and chemicals. →What can you do at home to get started. Gloria is a qualified Naturopath and Life Coach who has worked in varied roles within the Natural Medicine industry for the past 23 years. Currently, Gloria is based in Perth, where she runs a Naturopathic Consultancy specialising in Herbal and Nutritional interventions as well as dietary modification to improve learning and behaviour in children with behavioural disorders, coaching burnt out parents of these kids to help make their life less stressful and restore their energy, as well as facilitating wellness in many clients with a range of health conditions. When not consulting, Gloria is the Senior Lecturer at the Endeavour College of Natural Medicine, Perth Campus, where she pursues another passion; teaching and inspiring the up and coming movers and shakers in the Natural Medicine field. Aside from her Naturopathic qualifications, Gloria has a Cert IV in Life Coaching from the Coaching Institute, a Graduate Certificate in Evidence Based Complementary Medicine and a Bachelor of Medicines Management with Professional Honours in Complementary Medicine, from the University of Tasmania. She believes that food is medicine. Every time you eat, you are given the opportunity to either nourish and feed your body and prevent illness, or are given the opportunity to move towards disease by eating processed, packaged foods filled with sugar and artificial ingredients. She also advocates yoga, meditation and mindfulness as a therapy to help balance our hectic lives and schedules. Stress is an under-rated cause of biochemical imbalance, which contributes to conditions such as anxiety and depression as well as digestive dysfunction, hormone imbalance and obesity. Learning to quieten and train the mind is a non-negotiable part of achieving optimal wellness in today's world. No matter who she’s treating or training it's that challenge that keeps her passionate about what she does. Together we discuss Poliquins Fat Mapping Principles. The BioSignature Modulation created by Poliquin, is a method based on the correlation between body fat distribution and possible hormonal imbalances. Hormonal imbalances are often the culprit of stubborn body fat storage and other health concerns such as poor sleep, low energy, impaired cognitive function, and more. Lan and I address these potential imbalances using nutrient supplementation, training and lifestyle modifications to improve body composition and overall well-being. IG: @Superlan13

Hello everyone, today I am back with another guest on the Business of Dance Podcast. In this episode I will be interviewing and leading a transformative conversation, specific to studio values, with the one and only Melanie Gard. Melanie is the Principal Director of Peninsula School of Dance in South Victoria, here in Australia. The School has serviced the Mornington Peninsula for over 55 years and produced some of Australia’s finest dancers, teachers and choreographers. Formerly Rosebud Ballet School, which was founded in 1961 by Miss Sandra Allan and stands today as one of the longest established Cecchetti schools in Victoria. The school commenced with 23 students and a Pianist at the Rosebud Memorial Hall and is now thriving in a beautiful new premises in Rosebud West. The faculty at Peninsula School of Dance believes that nothing is more joyful than watching a young child explore the world of music and movement with pure delight and carefree abandon. When this is nurtured in a loving environment by highly qualified staff, students will go on to derive many benefits from learning the art of dance. As the Director of Peninsula School of Dance, Melanie is not interested in just churning out “the best” dancers, but is very passionate in helping kids reach their full potential. She believes that dance is more than just a series of movements, but rather, dance can help us cross bridges in life. All of the students at Peninsula School of Dance have their own unique needs for expression, and have the support, guidance and encouragement from their teachers. Through their classes, students gain life skills and a solid foundation for adulthood. Melanie believes that dance kids have a strong work ethic, are committed and present themselves with confidence and humility. PSD is passionate about churning out decent, well-rounded human beings who go on to have happy, healthy and productive lives. And although it may not be the ultimate goal, but if students choose to take on dance professionally, PSD will give them the support they need, and will be the first ones to cheer them on from the wings of the stage! Melanie can proudly trace the roots of her training directly back to Maestro Cecchetti himself. She trained for over 25 years with Miss Lorraine Blackbourn OAM. Under the guidance of Miss Blackbourn OAM (Fellow, Senior Examiner and Life Member of Cecchetti Ballet Australia) Melanie obtained her Advanced Certificate with distinction, Associate, Associate Diploma and Licentiate Status with distinction. •Kristan Kershaw is a health coach with a focus on minerals - in this episode, we talk about how your behaviour is impacted by food and minerals... and what to do if you're imbalanced. Mum of twin teens and an almost-7-year-old who had a baby with big gastro issues and allergies •She had to go on an elimination diet after being told she just had 'one of those allergic babies' •She found that her family had a history of mineral imbalance and after lots of education and dietary changes, through these supplements, they have desensitised her allergies •This led her to help other people and turn it into a business •Stress (metabolically, mentally, financially) is all contributed by mineral imbalance. When we're stressed, once of the first things our bodies does is release chemicals that reduces magnesium •Long term stress leads to more issues •Bio-available copper in our bodies is really important so our bodies can use •We tend to put ourselves last •When she started looking at issues - she checked herself out at the same time as her kids... •We can't give someone else the best care if we're not operating well •Get familiar with what it feels like to get nourished and that it's ok to take care of ourselves •Could be as simple as swapping a cooking oil for a certain type of butter •A lot of us are told we're low in iron - actually a symptom of low bio-available copper •Be an advocate for own health and do your own research •Stress and sleep are massive •Our grandparents and parents ate very differently than we do •Australians and western cultures have changed the soil and therefore the food and minerals we are consuming •Instruction manual you can start with - what minerals are actually doing in my body https://therootcauseprotocol.com/about/?ref=6 •Adrenal Cocktail: Orange Juice, Salt, Cream Of Tartar - healthy electrolyte drink •Bruce Lipton - stress at a cellular level •Teen Brain - dopamine, gabba and serotonin - how they all work together •addictions are tied in with our mineralsKristan Kershaw naturally has been supporting others around her to learn and find their way since a young age. She has developed that skill in connection over time and has added a lot of knowledge and experience to this via formal training. She has completed a BSc (Hons) in Animal Science, a Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) as well as extensive training with Morley Robbins to be a Root Cause Protocol Consultant in the area of mineral dysfunction and metabolism in the body. Kristan's forte is helping to simplify really complex topics, and to help clients make connections between their past and present stresses and the resulting changes to our bodies. As you connect to your mineral metabolism results and your stress, it opens the path to healing and restoration. Kristan is passionate about transferring this knowledge to others and empowering them to not just be told (and accept) what is going on with their health, but to embrace it and understand it. The more we understand about how our bodies work, the more we can be in-tune with them, and can find our path to optimal health. Minerals run our bodies, and insufficient or imbalanced minerals in our body will lead to a range of symptoms from allergies and food intolerances, fatigue, to depression and anxiety related conditions, to concentration challenges in kids and adults alike, diabetes and other autoimmune conditions, and so much more. Along Kristan's journey, she has been researching and learning alongside Teresa Bowley - a well respected and known face in the 'FAILSAFE' food intolerance circles, and someone with years of experience and knowled...
