Austin St. John is back in the headlines and again it's for all the wrong reasons. In a February podcast interview with Jim Cummings, he said he planned a clothing line featuring quotes from leaders both famous and infamous, saying the German mustache guy "was a demon on steroids but he had some pretty good one-liners." This week, Power Rangers fans took notice of the comments and the former Red Ranger has faced backlash from nearly all corners. Tyler and Mike Manos offer their takes on what he said, and how fans and fan events should respond.Mentioned in this episode:United States Holocaust Memorial MuseumAmy Jo Johnson subtweets her former co-starGodzilla Minus One wins historic OscarAnimeNJ++ relocates for 2024Anime Boston welcomes Lotus JuiceLineage Studios: "EVERYTHING MUST GO GO"Find and rate us on Apple Podcasts and check us out on Spotify.Buy last-minute gifts or a little something for yourself from Entertainment Earth. Although I wasn't there when the ministers in charge of St. John Regular Baptist Association began the organization, my great-great-grandfather, Reverend Calvin Allen Sr., was. He was among reverends Jacob Fontaine, Jessie B. Shackles, John Henry Winn Sr., Buffington, and Horace Smith. His presence that day would ensure that I would be here today sharing with you their story and how they organized one of the largest independent associations of Black people within the state of Texas following the emancipation of enslaved Africans in the U.S. The St. John Regular Baptist Association went on to have over 200,000 members in its earlier years. In a 1904 editorial of the Austin American-Statesman, they predicted that the association and the Negro race will become extinct. It read, ‘When the shackles of slavery were thrown aside, the Negroes, yielding to licentiousness and ignorance will soon disappear.' Well, they were terribly mistaken because the St. John Regular Baptist Association continues until this very day. Upholding the same determination as those men who sat under that large canopy of the oak tree between 25th and Leon Street that decided they would take the future into their own hands and uplift their people.

We Call Austin St. John
This week on the podcast, we watch the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers episode ‘Bloom of Doom!’ No, this isn’t a lens-flaring J. J. Abrams monster. If only. Instead, we get a monster that manages to destroy the very meaning of the word ‘jealousy’. What is the strangest thing Austin St John, Walter Jones and Paul Schrier have been in (spoiler warning: it’s not Power Rangers)? Would you believe us if we said Kimberley’s powerful new weapon is a ribbon on a stick? And can the misuse of one word cause the minds of two podcasters to crumble? Find out in this week’s episode of the Mighty Morphin’ Ranger Danger podcast!

We're walking ON FINS AND NEEDLES on the podcast this week, as we watch the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers episode of that name with Paisley! Here's some of what goes down: Want a buttload of talk about comics? We sure hope so because that's watcha gonna get! But really though, we uncover something that (if you're familiar with comic history) will probably blow your god damned socks right off. Seriously. It's the first time (and hopefully the last) will namecheck Ayn Rand on the show. We get a bit into the Austin St John v Jason David Frank rivalry. Fairly and objectively. Having said that, ASJ4LIFE. The Rangers assemble the Power Blaster, form up, charge the cannon, fire, and… miss?? Well, that was unexpected. And a little pitiable. We make a formal request for a new season - Power Rangers: Pirate Knights. Time to start an online petition, maybe? AND SO MUCH MORE!!!!

Special guest Austin St. John from "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" chats with Karan, Jeff, and Mike about returning to the conventions this summer and what he's been up to since his "Red Ranger" days.
Uncensored Radio's Guilty Pleasures is excited to chat with special guest Austin St. John aka “Jason Lee Scott,” the original Red Ranger, on Wednesday May 14, 2014. Austin St. John is best known for his role as “Jason Lee Scott,” the Red Power Ranger on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. At the age of 17, when the series premiered on the Fox Network, he was the youngest member of the original cast, but was also the most experienced at martial arts, which was integrated into his character on the show. Austin left the series mid-way through the second season, due to a contract and pay dispute, and was replaced as the Red Ranger on the show by Steve Cardenas. St. John later returned to the franchise as the Gold Ranger in Power Rangers: Zeo and as a guest star in the secondPower Rangers movie. His last Power Rangers appearance was in the tenth anniversary special “Forever Red,” where he joined nine other Red Ranger actors. After several years of service overseas St. John began making convention appearances throughout 2014 including a return to Power Morphicon in Los Angeles.
