In this week's episode, we check out the origin of Batman's famous sidekick, Dick Grayson aka the first Robin! Wait, I thought we were reading the 2nd half of Batman: Dark Victory... this episode was supposed to be issues 7-13. We were gonna find out who the Hangman Holiday killer was and how it relates to Batman, Two-Face, and all the Gotham mob families. Oh, that all happens too, I see. We also continue the Korvac Saga with Avengers #168 in which Captain America acts like a major asshole. Next Time: Sonic the Hedgehog: Endgame (Sonic (1993) #47-50) + The Korvac Saga #4 (Avengers #170)
Remember about 6 years ago when we read Batman: The Long Halloween about a serial killer who strikes on major holidays? Well it's time for the sequel, Batman: Dark Victory, which is about a serial killer... who strikes on major holidays. Cool. It's a 13-issue series, technically 14 since there's a little prequel issue, but we start off by just reading #0-6. Then we go onto The Korvac Saga in Avengers #167, which includes a fashion show! Fun! Next Time: We finish up Dark Victory!
On today's episode of Cameron Reads Comics, My friend Lauren Vera and I are talking about the prolific Batman story, Batman: Dark Victory by one of the all time greatest comic book collaborative teams Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. You may need to know that this episode is actually a sequel. If you haven't heard our episode on Batman: The Long Halloween, I highly recommend going and listening to that, and even listening to Catwoman: When In Rome, before that one. So, there's some previous Cameron Reads Comics content that may help bridge some gaps if you're coming into this one fresh!YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfuClIQs1UWbWcKNbO-rkkgInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/cameronreadscomics/Twitter: https://twitter.com/CameronReadsCom See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

It is Jake's second pick this week and of course he followed the directions... The brothers read the autobiographical story of Paul Dini and the events that helped shape his career. We discuss one Harleen Quinzel, a cocktail named after Paul, and the demons that haunt us all. Thanks for tuning in! Next week is Ben's Pick and the end of Season 6: Read page number 4 out of Love is Love and Robin #9.
Episode #32 of the Dime Comic Bros Podcast! Our main topic for this episode is Batman: Dark Victory (1999) by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale! We also discuss the news for the week - including the Spider-Man: No Way Home title reveal, WandaVision Episode 8, and what we've been reading and watching!
In this episode, Chris welcomes back Tim from the “Please Rewind: The RF4RM Retro MovieShow” and the “Anything Goes Podcast” to discuss another one of his favorite graphic novels,“Batman: Dark Victory”. In this sequel to the legendary Batman: The Long Halloween, JephLoeb and Tim Sale show us that even though Holiday was “captured”, another mystery killer hassprouted in Gotham City, but it's not the town we all quite knew. Once a place controlled byorganized crime, Gotham City suddenly finds itself being run by lawless freaks, such as PoisonIvy, Mr. Freeze, and the Joker. It is still early in Batman's crimefighting career, but the DarkKnight is on the verge of completing his transformation into the city's greatest defender. A newkiller has arrived in Gotham called, “Hangman” and he has continued to elude not only thepolice, but Batman as well. A children’s game pinned to each of the victims is the only clue tothe Hangman’s identity. With the murders reminiscent of the Holiday killing spree just a yearago, Batman will have to call on every one of his detective's instincts to solve a mystery thatgoes even deeper—and more dangerous—than any he's faced before.Geek Ultimate Alliance on Twitter: @GUAPodNetworkWFTB on Twitter: @FinestBelieversWFTB Email: worldsfinesttruebelievers@gmail.comChris on Twitter: @ChrisBalgaTim on Twitter: @ThisIsTimRooneyPlease Rewind: The RF4RM Retro Movie Show: http://pleaserewindrf4rm.libsyn.comPlease Rewind: The RF4RM Retro Movie Show on Twitter: @RewindRF4RMThe Anything Goes Podcast on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/TheAnythingGoesPodcast/

In the conversation, we share our feelings on the direction of the franchise at large before addressing our enthusiasm for the film. In our fifth issue, Comics on Consoles heads into grim territory by examining one of the most infamously reviled examples of comics-based video games: 2003’s Batman: Dark Tomorrow! While the game itself is appropriately remembered as nearly unplayable due to terrible controls and awful camera angles, there is an exceptional element to its story: the idea that, as host Chris Clow tells it, the story, score, cinematic presentation, and tone were all very much ahead of their time, and exemplary considering the era in which the game was released. Listen as Chris tries to reconcile the idea of how an excellent pre-Nolan, non-comics Batman story is buried by shoddy gameplay and frustrating missions. Then, in the discussion portion, the special co-host is SCOTT PETERSON, a former DC Comics editor and successful comics and prose writer who penned the great story featured in Dark Tomorrow. How did he get the job in the first place? What motivated him? Did he see the disastrous critical reception coming? How does he feel about the game now? All these and more await you in Comics on Consoles issue #5! Plus, Chris announces the subject of issue #6! Music by BenSound.com. Game music samples composed by Tot Taylor and performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
In this week's ball-hanging episode, Magnus continues the epic ultra super mega deluxe Special Edition 13-part Batman v. Superman megaseries epic! The objective of this megaseries is to salute Batman comics, Superman comics and Batman & Superman comics! In terms of comics, this megaseries has covered and will cover the oldest of the old, the newest of the new and a tasteful selection of everything in between! In this week's adventure, Magnus gabs about Batman- Dark Victory! Yes, a Jeph Loeb comic book. This sequel to the Long Halloween completes the transition from Batman's world as we first saw it in Year One to what it had become in the 1990's. Considering the fact that this is a Jeph Loeb comment, it's perfectly valid to ask if His Excellency had another meltdown over it or if he actually enjoyed himself for a change. Giving that away here would be rather pointless, would it not? But that's not all! In the second segment, your leader takes a moment to acknowledge that this past summer marked the 20th anniversary of Batman Forever, one of the most underrated Batman films of all time. For those determined to ruin the Internet for everyone else by perpetuating click-bait on Facebook, "His Excellency's near death experience will shock and amaze you!" Due to the blitzkrieg of ass-kickery, unfortunately there was just no time for listener feedback this week. Something will need to be done about the backlog of feedback. But don't worry, loyal subjects, your leader has a few ideas and you can expect to hear more on them as time progresses, moves forward and passes by. That day draws closer, ever closer! But in the meantime, don't let the lack of feedback this time get you down! You can still offer your feeble effort at tribute! You humble serfs are always welcome to kiss your benevolent leader's ring. Corrupt DiManzocorp interns are ready, willing, able and eager to accept your bribe to present your meager missives to your wise emperor. The email address to use is trentusmagnus@gmail.com as the other seems to be having technical problems. In an another sublime act of truly unprecedented charity, the leader permits you lowly rabble to suggest topics for a future episode. Thus, petitions may be sent to trentusmagnus@gmail.com for DiManzocorp interns to review, whereupon your leader might consider thinking about the possibility of potentially discussing whatever you have in mind some day. And that's a promise!
