HR2 - Jones and Scheim open the second hour of today's show talking Celtics and Bruins, are they better or worse than we thought they'd be heading into the season? It's a Tier Tuesday and the guys rank NFL teams after Week 16 action. Finally, the Red Sox have made yet another deal with the St. Louis Cardinals and are rumored to be in talks over a third. Are you happy with Breslow's offseason thus far?
Ian Cundall welcomed Chris Hatfield back to the pod and they were ready to dive into Craig Breslow's trade resume two years into his tenure... but after Chris dropped an interesting tidbit comparing Breslow to Dave Dombrowski, the news broke of Willson Contreras being traded to the Red Sox. The Boston Red Sox acquire Willson Contreras via trade with the Cardinals. Hunter Dobbins was sent back to St. Louis in the trade. On the 8th night of Hanukkah, Breslow and Bloom celebrated with their two ultimate gifts. Bloom gets back the starting pitcher he drafted and Red Sox fill the enormous hole they've had at 1B. We are extremely excited to welcome Contreras, he hit big bonk. Our friend Tyler (Twitter's @RedBirdFarmHand) jumped in to talk about his excitement to get Dobbins, though he is going to miss the Cardinals 1B king. From 'Play Tessie' (subscribe here): Gordo, Sammy, and Pat are far from happy after Pete Alonso signs a contract not with the Red Sox, but their in division rival in Baltimore. Where does Craig Breslow turn to next and do fans even trust him to make the right moves? Then, the two biggest power bats are off the board so Breslow will have to get creative to make the lineup better than last season. And, Alex Bregman seems like the next pivot, but finding another bat to pair with him isn't as promising as it once seemed. Alonso signed with the Orioles today, and Twitter CRASHED OUT. How do we feel about it? Less heartbroken than you think. Actually, Jack is pretty mad. He felt like we watched the Red Sox take a back seat while other teams got in on the action. Special guest Fitzy Mo Pena of Pod on Lansdowne joins the show. Many are calling him America's sweetheart. Jake and Liam make an appearance later in the episode in our reindeer games. Fitz has some opinions on the state of the market, and the state of the Red Sox. Though Red Sox do come home with a consolation prize, Ryan Watson. Pitcher we pilfered in the Rule 5 Draft. Fits the Breslow profile, maybe we like him. Pete Alonso lands in Baltimore, way to go Breslow! // Red Sox Nation sounds off.. and they're not impressed // Frustration with Sox ownership is boiling over //
Hour 2 - The MLB Winter meetings are underway, and Red Sox fans are hopeful their team will make a splash. Craig Breslow was asked about how the first day of meetings, and the slow search for a bat.
For this power hour we get into Craig Breslow making another deal for a pitcher which adds to a long list of moves to give the Red Sox more arms. Why is Breslow's resume toward adding pitching to the Sox a reason for fans to be nervous about the remaining offseason? Then, the stars won't be out for Celtics-Lakers, but Jaylen Brown is the star that will play and deserves to complete this season as the C's number one option. And, nothing is as American as football, but the President might want to change that.
Jones and Keefe react to the five player trade the Sox made yesterday. Do you trust Breslow and will they get another arm or is this it?
Right before the Thanksgiving holiday, Red Sox fans aren't thankful for Craig Breslow acquiring Sonny Gray apparently. Why are fears of returning to a time of not spending still lingering with Sox fans? Then, Breslow said one thing during his press conference last night that was a big red flag in a time of a lot of green flags. And, the "Cousin Walk" is a classic Thanksgiving tradition that is being ruined by social media.
Hart and Fitzy react to comments made by Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow on Tuesday night on the heels of his acquisition of SP Sonny Gray, and they debate whether Breslow's words gave them more, or less, optimism about the team's aggression this offseason.
From 'Play Tessie' (subscribe here): Its now officially hot stove season and Gordo, Sammy, and Pat are all over some oddly directive comments made by Craig Breslow at the GM meetings. Do we buy Breslow making his wants of a number two starter and power bat happen? Then, the two big bats the Red Sox are likely linked to are Kyle Schwarber and Pete Alonso and the contracts could be very different for the amount of want fans may have. And, Joe Ryan feels like a certain Sox target, but don't overlook Freddy Peralta if they strike out with Minnesota. How should fans feel about that and is the hesitancy to deal away young pitchers another excuse for Breslow? Then, the iconic Massachusetts restaurant Kowloon is going under some big changes as discussed in the New England Nightly News. And, the Bills fan who ran off with the football during the Pats-Bills game gave everyone an update.
Christian reacts to Craig Breslow's comments from Monday's end of season press conference and was fairly happy with what Breslow said. Specifically on Bregman, his numbers don't support the money he and Scott Boras might want, but the push to resign him should still be there.

From 'Baseball Isn't Boring' (subscribe here): Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow could very well secure a World Series ring without throwing a pitch, thanks to his role in building the roster as the team's top decision-maker. But few know the story of when Breslow earned a WS ring as a player despite not throwing a single pitch or appearing in a game. It's the story you probably didn't know, but needed to. Revisiting the Devers trade after the deadline makes Breslow look even worse. Kelly and Suarez could have been ours. Prospect hugging is terrible. The perfect GM is Theo. Would you rather hire the Dombrowski model or the Breslow model? Wormy Cora snuck away from the deadline. An EPIC Grab Bag sounder. Breslow is hard to deal with. Ivy League dweebs even hate him. Clip Du Jour
Breslow did not do his job at the trade deadline. Period. The team did its job by winning a bunch of games. All of the other AL playoff borderline teams got way better, but the Sox did almost nothing. This team had extra bucks to spend and a great farm system. Huge mistake. Jones really thought he would add. If Henry does not spend BIG on free agency, it is all on him and fans should be pissed. Yesterday was on BRESLOW, not Henry. Breslow got boo'd by the fans at the Greg Hill Show this morning. No one is more let down than Jones. Deadline DISASTER.
Friday Four Pack! Here are the questions SHOULD CRAIG BRESLOW BE FIRED IF THE RED SOX MISS THE PLAYOFFS? WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE TERRY MCLAURIN OR MICAH PARSONS? WHAT IS THE BEST CONCERT YOU'VE EVER GONE TO? WHAT IS THE BEST SUMMER SONG?
People should be disgusted at the Red Sox trade deadline. The real shame is that fans were ready to believe in this team. Cora is pouting. This is bad. The Sox are about to go into the tank. F –. Matz and May will not help this team win a World Series. Henry is not at fault for the bad deadline.
