Fantasy Baseball Live – August 24, 2025 @ 3:00 pmMicrosoft Teams:Segments 1 and 2 – Review of Weekend GamesAdditional Questions:1.Five young kids that we might see soon. Your thoughts for picking up:1)JJ Wetherholt (3B/2B/SS, STL) – The Cardinals have played him at third base seven times this month, and he's been on and off second base this season.2)Spencer Jones (OF, NYY) – He's tied for the lead in home runs in the minor leagues with 32.3)Jonah Tong (RHP, NYM) – Word coming out of New York is this might happen sooner rather than later.4)Payton Tolle (LHP, Bos) – Pitching to a 3.04 ERA across High, Double and Triple-A. He has 133 Ks and 23 walks in 92.1 IP. His fastball topped out at 99 MPH in Friday's start.5)Robby Snelling (LHP, Mia) – Fastball is up to 97 MPH from the left side and is pitching to a 2.73 ERA across Double and Triple-A this season. 2.Nestor Cortes pitched a one-hitter against the Dodgers on Saturday. What? His fastball averaged 90.1 MPH (T 92). Old school baseball?. Really???3.The Mariners released Dylan Moore, who started the season strong (.290, 7 HRs, 13 SB) through mid-May, then cooled off, lost his spot, and now he's cut. Is there anything here if he gets picked up by another MLB team?a.Victor Robles gets reinstated after throwing his bat at a pitcher in a Triple-A game. He takes Moore's spot on the roster. He was a sexy draft pick this season, but a shoulder injury has cost him most of the season, and then, of course, the issue in Triple-A.4. I know Nick Kurtz has the ROY award practically wrapped up in the American League, but will Colson Montgomery receive some votes? In just 41 games, he's hit 12 home runs with 34 RBIs. The 12 home runs are fourth in baseball among all rookies, and the 34 RBIs rank 12th. The 11 players ahead of him have all played twice as many games, with some nearly three times as many. BTW, he's hitting .229 with 44 strikeouts in 41 games (28% K-Rate, 7% BB-Rate) with a poor chase rate.5.What does going 4 for 15 in your first four professional games get you? An 8-year, $67 million contract. That's what Samuel Basallo signed on Friday. It's a deal similar to what Jackson Chourio signed before the start of the 2024 (8-year, $87 million or 30% more). A good deal of the Orioles? What about Basallo?a.Now that he should be up for good (although Kristian Campbell might disagree), how do the Orioles use him? b.Does he get enough at-bats at catcher to retain eligibility this season or at least get it in April of 2026?c.Would the Orioles consider trading Adley Rutschman? Do we really want to pull away from that long and amazing history? Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner talk MLB betting for Friday. The MLB Friday betting preview with Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner broke down twelve games with both hosts riding an 8–2 streak on best bets. Munaf opened by stressing the urgency with roughly 35 games left, while Griffin noted, “we're getting hot at the right time of year.” Colorado at Pittsburgh led the card. Antonio Senzatela, torched in a 17–16 loss the last time he saw the Pirates, carries a 2–8 road record. Munaf called the over 8.5 the best angle. Griffin, mocking the Rockies as “one of the least competitive franchises in global sports,” leaned Pirates at home but doubted unders due to Colorado bats. Washington at Philadelphia followed with Cade Cavalli against Taijuan Walker. Cavalli threw seven shutout innings versus the Phillies previously, but Munaf warned that rematches favor the hitters. Griffin advised focusing on Phillies run lines and blowout props. The Red Sox at Yankees matchup paired Brayan Bello with Max Fried. Griffin argued the line “doesn't respect what Bello has done,” while Munaf highlighted Boston's 6–1 record in Bello's last seven against New York. Fried has allowed four or more runs in four of his last five. Both favored Boston plus money. Houston at Baltimore featured Lance McCullers in his first start since July 19 against Cade Povich. Griffin pointed to Houston's offensive slump of just eight runs in seven games. Munaf doubted McCullers' sharpness and leaned over nine, adding that Adley Rutschman is sidelined and Josh Hader likely out until October. In Detroit, Ryan Bergen faced Casey Mize. Munaf cited Mize's 3.63 ERA and 103 strikeouts, with Detroit winning his last four starts. Griffin criticized Mize's All-Star nod and praised Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez. Both leaned under early but saw Royals value. The Mets at Braves matchup showcased rookie Nolan McLean, who struck out eight but walked four in his debut. Griffin favored Atlanta as a home dog and the over 8.5, while Munaf leaned similarly, noting hot Atlanta weather would boost scoring. St. Louis at Tampa Bay featured Miles Mikolas against Adrian Houser. Griffin trusted the Rays' bullpen, while Munaf stressed Mikolas' inconsistency and backed Tampa at -128. Minnesota at Chicago pitted Zebby Matthews against Aaron Civale. Griffin quickly said, “give me the White Sox.” Munaf agreed, citing Matthews' 5.06 ERA and Chicago's 7–3 record at home on Friday nights, all as underdogs. In Texas, Slade Cecconi met Nathan Eovaldi. Griffin praised Eovaldi's Cy Young-level form, recommending under plays. Munaf backed that, noting Rangers home unders sit at 64.5 percent. Milwaukee hosting San Francisco saw Carson Whisenhunt oppose José Quintana. Griffin highlighted Bryce Turang's surge, while Munaf cited Milwaukee's 42–20 home record and San Francisco's 13–22 mark against lefties, backing Brewers run line at plus money. Cincinnati at Arizona matched Zach Littell with Ryne Nelson. Munaf praised Nelson's 5–1, 2.20 ERA home mark across 57 innings, backing the Diamondbacks and their team total. Griffin agreed Arizona held value despite a high price. The Dodgers at Padres closed the slate with Blake Snell against Yu Darvish. Griffin trusted Darvish's improvement and liked San Diego as a home underdog. Munaf leaned to the under eight, noting Snell's six scoreless innings against the Padres last week but citing Darvish's 2.55 career ERA in 16 appearances versus Los Angeles. Best bets closed the show. Griffin picked Tampa Bay over St. Louis, while Munaf selected the over in Houston and Baltimore, both looking to extend their winning streak into the weekend. Welcome to Episode 90 of Tablesetters, where the game's biggest stories collide with scorching heat, late-June pressure, and postseason implications already beginning to brew. We begin in Omaha, where the LSU Tigers didn't just win their eighth College World Series — they secured their place as the defining force in modern college baseball. From the dynasty built by Skip Bertman to the edge honed by Jay Johnson, LSU's legacy now spans three decades, multiple eras, and a standard no one else in the sport has matched. Then we shift west, where the Padres and Dodgers turned a simmering rivalry into a full-blown powder keg. Benches cleared, stars got plunked, and managers were tossed in a four-game series that saw eight hit batters and more bad blood than baseball. This wasn't just a tense series — it was personal. And the aftermath could define the rest of the NL West race. In New York, the Mets and Braves meet again — both clubs in search of clarity and consistency as they open a four-game set under the oppressive Queens heat. Atlanta may have swept New York last week, but both teams are still trying to find themselves in a season that keeps asking questions they can't quite answer. From Chris Sale's injury to Frankie Montas' high-stakes return, we break down what's at stake in a pivotal series. We also head to Cincinnati, where the Reds are turning the page — and turning to fire. Chase Burns, one of the most hyped pitching prospects in recent memory, will make his major league debut against the Yankees. With the rotation in tatters and the Reds hovering around .500, this isn't just a call-up — it's a bet on the future. We unpack Burns' meteoric rise, what makes his arsenal electric, and why his debut feels like a potential franchise reset. Elsewhere around the league, big names are coming and going. Max Scherzer returns to the Blue Jays. Shota Imanaga and Nathan Eovaldi are nearing activation. Adley Rutschman hits the IL. And the Padres and Mariners move on from veterans Jason Heyward and Rowdy Tellez. We close with a look at the surging and the slumping — a segment spotlighting players heating up or going ice cold. And in the AL MVP race, Cal Raleigh's historic first half behind the plate has Mariners fans fired up — but Aaron Judge is quietly putting together one of the best seasons of his career. Who has the edge as July approaches? Follow us on Instagram and X @TablesettersPod for extra content, polls, and weekly MLB breakdowns. Like, subscribe, and share to support the show.

Did you notice that as soon as your favorite team has a series in Tampa or Sacramento, there is a “news” story that sounds like Yelp reviews of the non-major-league facilities? It would have been a 10 if not for the batter's box. Swirling and unpredictable. You get it. Pottymouth swears Junior has a sixth tool but she never comes right out and says what it is. It might be a camp! Or bobbleheads! Her pitching flock has been reduced to Diamondbacks in the rough.  Patti is amused that there are stories predicting that 24 year old Cedanne may one day be the next 23 year old Pete. And is Adley hitting better because of losing the toe tap or because Patti benched him for a game? We ponder the motivation of old guys grinding it out in the minors. The police blotter checks in on the ongoing Wander Franco trial, and the terrible defacing of the Robinson and Miñoso mural in Miami. Geaux Tigers! The takeaway from Nationals Night Out is that if you are going to pitch in heels, for god's sake, PRACTICE in heels. We say, “13 is a lot. 14 is more,” “J. Take 10 with Tim – May 23, 2025 @ 9:30 am 1.I know everyone loves Juan Soto, but with eight home runs and a .247 batting average after 30% of the games played this season, it looks a lot like 2022 when he hit 27 home runs and had a .242 average. He is stealing bases, which helps, but should owners be worried? Is this the player they drafted?a.He's also been criticized for his lack of hustle. Do you think that now that he's being paid, he's lost something?2.Sal Perez and Adley Rutschman hit home runs on Wednesday. It was Adley's first home run since April 20, and he's barely hitting above the Mendoza line. Perez last hit a home run on April 13 and is also just above the Mendoza line. Who are you more concerned about for the rest of the season?3.Dylan Crews will be out for a while after suffering an oblique strain on Tuesday. Robert Hassell III gets the call. He's far from the player everyone expected when he was drafted by the Padres in the first round in 2020, but he's played alright this season, with a .288 batting average, four home runs, and nine stolen bases. What do you expect, and how long do you think he'll be out?4.Patrick Corbin looked like he was playing out the string after signing that great contract with Washington. He went unowned in most leagues. This year, he's been a different guy. Pitching for Texas, he's won three games and posting a 3.59 ERA. However, he's not striking out many (6.75 K/9) and his xERA is 4.56.a.You can't sell high (maybe you can), but what do you do here? Keep starting him every week? Pick and choose based on matchups? Something else?5.In the past three games, Will Warren has a record of 2-0, with a 1.50 ERA and a 13:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He has lowered his ERA to 4.05. Is this merely a hot streak, or are we witnessing a breakout?6.Matt Shaw returns to the Cubs, and Moises Ballesteros is sent down. This is Shaw's second chance. Will this time be better?7.Rank the Top 10 pitchers you would like to own over the rest of the season.1)Skubal2)Skenes3)Yamamoto4)Wheeler5)Fried6)Brown7)deGrom8)Senga9)Bibee10)Warren8.If something pops up today, we will include9.What one hitter are you targeting in this weekend's FAAB?Robert Hassell III (OF, Was)10.What one pitcher are you targeting in this weekend's FAAB?Daniel Palenecia (RHP, CHC)
