The Seahawks are practicing and Mike Macdonald spoke to the media earlier today. Ian likes the way both he and Sam Darnold presented today and we take a listen to his mentality heading into the NFC Championship. with 30% of the NFL looking for a new head coach, how lucky are we to have Mike Macdonald here in Seattle? Stewart Mandel, The Athletic tries to break down the Duke vs. Darian Mensah, but it's extremely complicated - how similar is it to the Demond Williams situation? He takes a look back at the NCAA Championship game and what made Indiana so successful this year. Curt Cignetti is one of the best talent evaluators out there. Eno Sarris, The Athletic joins Ian to talk about Felix Hernandez's historic percentage rise in the MLB Hall of Fame voting that took place yesterday. What are the chances he ends up getting in and if so, when? Mike Holmgren thinks the Seahawks will win on Sunday and win the whole dang thing. They're his favorite for the Super Bowl. He talks about how he'd prepare a backup quarterback in the Seahawks' current situation. And, of course, we have a very reasoned and level-headed conversation about referees. Mick Cronin continues to whine. We check in on the Tacoma Dodge Text Line! Crosstalk with Softy!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This hour Henry says that if the MLB Hall of Fame will let Carlos Beltran in, they need to open it up to PED users, he talks Wild hockey and more NHL with Jessi Pierce from the Bardown Beauties Podcast and NHL.com, plus we have Bite of the Night and Headlines.
Yeah, we probably like our quarterback more than other people around the country, but the narrative circulating in the national ranks yesterday was just plain lazy- no, Sam is not a liability for the Seahawks in the playoffs. 14 interceptions and 6 lost fumbles- that's all anyone focuses on, not the fact that his team is winning and Sam is doing his part to help them get there. He was only 20 years old when he came into the league and he went to a crappy team, so it's highly probably that he wasn't getting what he needed to grow as an NFL QB in NY and Carolina. :30- Bad news anti-analytics people: if you want King Felix to get into the Hall of Fame, you're going to have to support the analytics, because that's how he will get there. Yesterday was very promising for Felix Hernandez as he saw the biggest jump in vote percentage from year 1 on the ballot to year 2 since 1967 going from 20.6% last year to 46.1% this year. :45- Walker's workload has been kept fairly low all season long as he split carries with Zach Charbonnet, but now, that's not an option with Charbs out. How many carries should Walker get on Sunday? A lot more! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Ben Ennis and Sho Alli open Wednesday'a show by recapping the Raptors' 145-127 win over the Warriors. They highlight the team's vastly improved shooting, Immanuel Quickley's 40-point performance, and how he's looked without a true big man. They also discuss Michael Grange's report on trade deadline pressure facing Bobby Webster and the benefits of not being in win-now mode. After the break, they react to the MLB Hall of Fame announcement featuring Carlos Beltran, Andruw Jones, Félix Hernández, and the continued exclusion of Barry Bonds. The show wraps up with reports that the Blue Jays may be out on Cody Bellinger, as the boys debate why the team wouldn't pursue him given their reported interest in Kyle Tucker. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
