Aaron Judge will be sidelined indefinitely after undergoing extensive imaging that revealed a right rib stress fracture. Corey Pieper breaks down breaking superstar injury news, high-impact roster replacements, the daily Weekend Planner, and the FanDuel Bet of the Day. The medical wire is completely fundamentally altering the fantasy baseball universe as Chris Bassitt leaves his last start with severe back structural discomfort, Trevor Story shifts to the 60-day injured list, and Shohei Ohtani plays through a finger blister issue. Fantasy managers finally receive incoming reinforcements with Corey Seager and Lars Nootbaar trackable to return to starting lineups today. Statcast data signals a buying window for Shota Imanaga despite letting up six earned runs, as his horizontal pitch separation metrics remain completely intact. Conversely, investigate Brayan Bello under the hood, where his groundball rate plummeted to an ugly season low during a miserable seven-hit, eight-earned-run implosion. For the Weekend Planner, we chart out the most critical starting pitching streams and schedule adjustments across the league, spotlighting Edward Cabrera clashing against San Francisco and the sudden insertion of Jack Perkins into the rotation. Special guest Gordo from the podcast Play Tessie joins Mark Corbett and Mat Germain for an in-depth look at the current state of the Boston Red Sox. The crew breaks down Boston's elite pitching, offensive struggles, leadership concerns, player development, trade deadline possibilities, and how the Red Sox compare to the Rays model of success. Red Sox Pitching is Carrying the Team Boston's starting rotation and bullpen have been among the best in the American League during May.  Sonny Gray's dominant outing sparks discussion about the strength of the staff.  Gordo explains how the pitching staff consistently gives the Red Sox opportunities to win games. Offensive Problems Continue The Red Sox remain one of the weakest offensive teams in baseball despite strong pitching and defense.  Trevor Story, Jarren Duran, and Caleb Durbin are discussed as major offensive disappointments.  Gordo notes that even league average run production would make Boston one of baseball's top teams. Life After Rafael Devers and Alex Bregman Discussion on the impact of losing star players and veteran leadership.  Pressure has shifted onto younger players who may not yet be ready to carry the offense.  Roman Anthony's development becomes a major focal point for the franchise moving forward. Christian Campbell and the Youth Movement Debate over Christian Campbell's future position and timeline to return to the majors.  The group discusses whether Campbell should move back to the infield.  Concerns are raised about rushing top prospects before they are fully ready. Comparing the Rays and Red Sox Development Systems Mat explains how the Rays build organizational identity from the Florida Complex League all the way to the majors.  Gordo discusses Boston's analytics-heavy developmental philosophy and recent coaching changes.  The conversation explores whether the Red Sox lack a unified organizational identity. Leadership and Clubhouse Identity Alex Cora's firing and Chad Tracy's promotion are discussed in detail.  The hosts examine whether Boston lacks veteran leadership and emotional anchors in the clubhouse.  Comparisons are made to successful Rays teams built around accountability and defense-first baseball. Ownership and Spending Questions The crew debates whether Red Sox ownership still has the same urgency to win.  Comparisons are made between Boston's current payroll strategy and previous championship seasons.  Fenway Sports Group's expanding business interests become part of the discussion. Brutal Upcoming Schedule The Red Sox face one of the toughest remaining schedules in baseball.  Matchups against the Braves, Yankees, Rays, Blue Jays, Mariners, Dodgers, and others could define the season. Trade Deadline Speculation Gordo breaks down possible trade chips including Sonny Gray, Aroldis Chapman, and Garrett Whitlock.  Mat discusses why the Rays could potentially pursue Chapman at the deadline.  The group debates whether Boston should buy, sell, or retool for next season. What Gordo is Watching the Rest of the Season Roman Anthony's health and development remain the biggest storyline for Boston.  Gordo explains why Anthony could still become the centerpiece of the franchise. Featured Guest Gordo from the Play Tessie podcast  Contributor to Baseball Isn't Boring Follow Gordo on X: @BOSSportsGordo Remember to like and subscribe to BaseballBiz On Deck. Tarik Skubal's season—and possibly his financial future—just took a major hit. The Tigers ace is expected to miss 2–3 months with an elbow injury, and Jake and Jordan break down what this means not only for Detroit's season but also for Skubal's looming free agency. Could this injury cost him a historic contract? They also discuss Framber Valdez's struggles on the mound and the fallout from hitting Trevor Story in a lopsided loss to the Red Sox. Shohei Ohtani continues to be one of the most fascinating players in baseball, but is there cause for concern? The guys analyze his recent pitching performance and dig into the narrative that his hitting dips when he's on the mound. Is this just small sample size noise, or something teams should actually be paying attention to? To wrap things up, it's time for some early-season hardware. With one month in the books, Jake and Jordan hand out their picks for AL and NL MVP, Cy Young, and Rookie of the Year. Who's real, who's surprising, and who might not last? The overreactions are flying—and that's exactly how we like it. Munaf Manji and Dave Essler talk betting for Wednesday. Munaf Manji and Dave Essler are back on the Straight Outta Vegas AM feed for a loaded Wednesday card that covers two NBA playoff Game 2s, a ten-game MLB slate, and the Framber Valdez meltdown that had the baseball world talking Tuesday night. Tuesday went one and one, the Lakers team total got there quietly, Cade Cavalli got roughed up, and Dave's Rangers first-five under died when Texas scored three in the top of the first, but April closed strong and the guys are right back at it. In the East, the New York Knicks host the Philadelphia 76ers for Game 2 at Madison Square Garden after a 39-point blowout in Game 1 where Jalen Brunson dropped 35 in 31 minutes, Mikal Bridges went 7 of 10 for 17, Karl-Anthony Towns went 7 of 11 for 17, and OG Anunoby was 7 of 8 for 18 points while the Knicks shot 51.4 percent from three. The line sits at Knicks minus seven and a half, the same number Philadelphia has been getting all postseason, and Dave argues the market is pricing in a bounce-back that is not coming, pointing to Karl-Anthony Towns as the matchup problem the Celtics never had to solve. Munaf's case is simpler: Jalen Brunson has scored 39, 47, 40, 41, and 35 in his last five playoff games against Philly, and DraftKings has him over 26.5 at minus 122, a number he cleared before halftime in Game 1. Brunson over is Munaf's best bet. In the West, Minnesota stole Game 1 in San Antonio 104-102 despite Victor Wembanyama posting 12 blocks in a record-setting performance, though Wembanyama went 5 of 17 from the floor and De'Aaron Fox added 5 of 14, with the two combining to shoot 10 of 31 from the field. The Spurs are nine and a half point home favorites for Game 2 with the total at 215 and a half. Dave leans over, citing the Spurs' 27 fast break points in Game 1, referee Scott Foster's historically friendly whistle, and the likelihood both teams shoot more efficiently from three. He also leans Minnesota with the points and identifies Dylan Harper, who went 7 of 13 for 17 with four assists in 29 minutes, as his preferred player prop target when the Wolves go to their bench. On the MLB side, Dave makes the Twins team total over four and a half his best bet of the day against Miles Mikolas, who has given up four, three, three, and four earned runs in his last four road starts and is walking batters at a concerning rate. Dave also targets the Diamondbacks on the run line against Paul Skenes, reading sharp money as the line compressed from minus 150 to minus 121 for Pittsburgh. Nathan Eovaldi and the Rangers get a look, with Dave leaning under as the total climbs toward nine. The guys also unpack a developing Shohei Ohtani angle: in his last three starts where he pitched but did not bat, the Dodgers scored a combined two runs and lost all three games, making the other team on the run line a potential systematic edge moving forward. The episode wraps with the Framber Valdez situation, where the Tigers starter drilled Trevor Story with a 94 mph fastball immediately after allowing back-to-back home runs by Willson Contreras and Wilyer Abreu, clearing the benches at Comerica Park. Both managers condemned the act, Valdez claimed it was unintentional, and Dave made the case it fits a pattern.
