Dr Peter Connelly narrates his blog written for Dementia Researcher. In this blog, Peter compares academically led and commercially sponsored clinical trials, outlining how they differ in goals, recruitment expectations, intensity, monitoring and funding. Drawing on personal experience, he highlights unrealistic recruitment projections, contrasts study cultures, and reflects on the professional rewards and pressures associated with each model. The blog offers practical insight for clinicians considering participation in dementia research. In this episode of the Medical Sales Podcast, host Samuel Adeyinka sits down with Dr. S. Thaddeus Connelly, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, professor, and researcher, to give medical sales professionals a rare behind the scenes look at what it takes to earn a surgeon's trust and win in the OR environment. Dr. Connelly breaks down his path from dentistry to an MD and PhD, what a real operating room setup looks like, and exactly how reps add value during complex cases like TMJ replacement surgery. He explains why long term relationships matter more than flashy pitches, what "subtle" outreach really means when approaching surgeons, and the consistent habits of the best reps he's worked with for decades. The conversation also dives into the biggest innovations transforming his specialty, including virtual surgical planning, custom plates, guided implant workflows, and how AI is starting to reshape imaging, planning, and rep responsibilities. If you sell into surgeons or want to, this episode is a masterclass in professionalism, patience, and how to become the rep who belongs in the room. Connect with Dr. S. When you live with a chronic illness, food restriction is often framed as “medical,” “necessary,” or “just being responsible.” But for many people, especially those with eating disorder histories, that kind of guidance doesn't support health. It fuels fear, shame, isolation, and disordered eating patterns that are hard to unwind. In this episode, Dr. Marianne is joined by Vanessa Connolly, a registered dietitian nutritionist and board-certified kidney nutrition specialist, for a grounded, compassionate conversation about what happens when restriction is prescribed rather than chosen and why that matters so deeply for eating disorder recovery. Together, they unpack how diet culture shows up in chronic illness care, how weight stigma and medical bias shape food advice, and why many people are quietly harmed by guidance that prioritizes control over nourishment. In This Conversation, We Explore This episode looks at how chronic illness care can unintentionally recreate the same dynamics that drive eating disorders, especially for people who have already spent years being told their bodies are the problem. We talk about how fear-based food rules around labs, numbers, and diagnoses often strip people of cultural foods, social connection, and bodily trust. You'll hear why blanket dietary restrictions are rarely neutral, how they can worsen food fear and disordered eating, and what a more supportive, humane approach to nutrition can look like. Vanessa also explains why focusing on what can be added rather than taken away, including fiber, balance, and satisfaction, supports both physical health and psychological safety. This episode names the emotional cost of food policing, family surveillance, and medical dismissal, especially for people in larger bodies and those navigating multiple marginalized identities. Topics Covered We discuss eating disorder recovery alongside chronic illness, including chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure, without defaulting to diet culture or weight-centric care. This conversation includes medical gaslighting and delayed diagnoses, how lab values like GFR are often misunderstood or minimized, and why many patients are never fully informed about what's happening in their own bodies. We also explore anti-fat bias in healthcare, intersectionality, cultural food loss, and how shame and restriction can isolate people from their communities at the very moment they need support the most. Why This Episode Matters If you've ever felt afraid to eat after a diagnosis, confused by conflicting medical advice, or worried that “doing everything right” is actually making things worse, this episode is for you. This is not a conversation about willpower, compliance, or perfect eating. It's about restoring agency, reducing harm, and finding ways to care for your body that don't require sacrificing your relationship with food. About the Guest Vanessa Connolly is a registered dietitian nutritionist and board-certified kidney nutrition specialist with over 20 years of experience supporting people with chronic kidney disease. Her work centers on helping clients preserve kidney function without unnecessary restriction, food fear, or shame. She is deeply committed to accessible, weight-inclusive, and judgment-free care. You can find Vanessa on Instagram and TikTok @grainandgreen.kidneys, where she shares practical, anti-diet education about kidney health and chronic illness. Dr. Marianne offers eating disorder therapy and support for people navigating binge eating disorder, ARFID, anorexia, bulimia, and long-term eating struggles, including when chronic illness or medical advice is part of the picture. Ever feel like life is quietly telling you, “Just a little more and you'll finally be okay”?More money. More margin. More stuff. More success. And yet, many of us have more than ever and still feel restless, anxious, or behind. This Sunday we're opening God's Word to a passage that confronts that pressure head-on. In 1 Timothy 6:6–19, Paul speaks into the tension we live with every day: What is enough? What actually leads to a good life? And why does “more” so often leave us wanting?
Dr Peter Connelly narrates his blog written for Dementia Researcher. In this blog Peter explores how dementia with Lewy bodies can present very differently from other dementias, particularly in its early stages. Drawing on clinical experience, he outlines key features including sleep disturbance, hallucinations, movement changes, and fluctuating attention, and explains how careful observation during assessment can support earlier recognition. The piece also reflects on current treatment limitations and highlights opportunities for environmental and non drug interventions to inform future research and care practice. Wolford v. Lopez | 01/20/26 | Docket #: 24-1046 24-1046 WOLFORD V. LOPEZ DECISION BELOW: 116 F.4th 959 LIMITED TO QUESTION 1 PRESENTED BY THE PETITION. CERT. GRANTED 10/3/2025 QUESTION PRESENTED: New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen , 597 U.S. 1, 33 (2022), holds that "the Second Amendment guarantees a general right to public carry" of arms, meaning ordinary, law-abiding citizens may "'bear' arms in public for self-defense." In this case, the Ninth Circuit sustained a Hawaii law that makes it a crime for a concealed carry permit holder to carry a handgun on private property unless he has been "given express authorization to carry a firearm on the property by the owner, lessee, operator, or manager of the property." H.R.S. § 134-9.5. That holding is in acknowledged direct conflict with the Second Circuit's holding in Antonyuk v. James , 120 F.4th 941 (2d Cir. 2024), a decision that struck down an identical State law in the same procedural posture as this case. The Ninth Circuit also sustained a multitude of other location bans on carry by permit holders, relying solely on post-Reconstruction Era and later laws. That doctrinal approach is in direct conflict with the Third Circuit's decision in Lara v. Commissioner Pennsylvania State Police , 125 F.4th 428 (3d Cir. 2025), the Fifth Circuit's decision in United States v. Connelly , 117 F.4th 269 (5th Cir. 2024), the Eighth Circuit's decision in Worth v. Jacobson , 108 F.4th 677 (8th Cir. 2024), and, most recently, the Eleventh Circuit's en banc decision in NRA v. Bondi , No. 21- 12314, 2025 WL 815734 at *5 (11th Cir. March 14,2025) (en banc), all of which hold that primary focus must be on Founding generation laws and tradition in applying the text, history and tradition test Bruen mandates. The questions presented are: 1. Whether the Ninth Circuit erred in holding, in direct conflict with the Second Circuit, that Hawaii may presumptively prohibit the carry of handguns by licensed concealed carry permit holders on private property open to the public unless the property owner affirmatively gives express permission to the handgun carrier? 2. Whether the Ninth Circuit erred in solely relying on post-Reconstruction Era and later laws in applying Bruen 's text, history and tradition test in direct conflict with the holdings of the Third, Fifth, Eighth and Eleventh Circuits? LOWER COURT CASE NUMBER: 23-16164

In the midst of darkness, we are called to arise and shine. Isaiah 60 speaks directly into seasons of despair, difficulty, and thick darkness, whether that's personal struggle, cultural chaos, or the weight of circumstances beyond our control. The prophet Isaiah wasn't offering empty optimism to a nation in exile; he was proclaiming a promise that would echo through centuries. The Magi who traveled from distant lands bearing gold, frankincense, and myrrh weren't religious insiders. They were outsiders, foreigners, even former enemies of God's people. Yet they saw the star and came. This reveals something profound: God shapes us on the path, not on the sidelines. We don't wait for perfect conditions to obey; we rise and reflect His light even when our situation hasn't changed. The radiance Isaiah promises isn't about our own strength or positivity. It's about reflecting the glory of God that has already been placed upon us. When we shine in the darkness, when we remain faithful when it's hardest, that's when people see something different and are drawn to the light. God's reach is never out of reach. There's no one in our lives too far gone, no coworker too cynical, no family member too hardened. As long as there's breath, there's hope for transformation.

Ever feel like God's timing just isn't your timing? Or have people in your life who need Jesus, but it feels like they're never going to turn to Him? We're looking at a moment in Jesus' life when everyone tried to rush Him and when people close to Him still hadn't submitted to Him and what it teaches us about trusting God's timing in our own lives.

Do you ever feel like you're going through life looking for things to fill you, success, comfort, relationships, and they feel good for a while, but somehow you still end up unsatisfied? Sometimes we do the same thing with faith. We sample a little grace when we're tired, a little forgiveness when we mess up, and a little encouragement when life gets hard, but we never fully experience the whole life Jesus offers. We will continue in the book of John with a message from John 6:41–59, “The Satisfied Life,” as we unpack what it truly means to find lasting fulfillment in Christ.
Have you ever noticed how physical hunger can make us do some crazy things? The same is true in life — when our souls are hungry, we start reaching for anything to fill the emptiness. So let me ask you: Are you satisfied? Are you content with where you are — with what life has given you — spiritually, physically, and mentally? We'll look at what Jesus meant when He said, “I am the Bread of Life.” In a world chasing satisfaction that never lasts, Jesus offers something deeper — something that truly satisfies.

In 2024, the Scottish-Danish artist Clarissa Connelly put out an album called World of Work. It doesn’t exactly deal with “work” the way that you might imagine in a 21st-century context. On the contrary, Connelly’s opus dives deep into philosophical concepts regarding our relationship with our mortal world, bodily movement, and what’s known as “religious ecstasy.” KEXP contributor Isabel Khalili spoke with Connelly about the themes she taps into, which are as timeless as the sound of the music itself. The album centers around the use of bells, circularity, and death as a form of revelation. “The feeling of being part of something bigger — what is that?” Connelly asks in the interview, nodding to the first existential questions of our human ancestors. “Connecting with the past gives me a feeling of getting really high. Bells have always been a way of connecting to that. They are our structure of society.” Her hope for the listener is that the album can create space, peace, and “even just a brief moment of clarity or wanting to let go and being brave.” Support the show: kexp.org/deeper Support the show: https://www.kexp.org/sound/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We're reminded that Jesus is our ultimate source of life and abundance. The feeding of the 5,000 isn't just about physical nourishment, but a profound lesson in trusting God with our seemingly inadequate resources. When we feel empty or insufficient, that's often when God is setting us up for something extraordinary. Just as Jesus multiplied the boy's small offering of loaves and fish, He can take our meager efforts and transform them into miracles. This story challenges us to recognize that what we surrender to Jesus, He multiplies beyond our imagination. It's a call to trust Him with our time, talents, and treasures, even when – especially when – we feel we don't have enough to give.
