This week we are packing this episode full of GIANT MONSTERS! Join us as we grow in size to talk The Host, Dune, The Mist, go old school with Spectreman, and even father back to Ray Harryhausen classics such as Mysterious Island, the Sinbad Franchise and Jason and the Argonauts. We also get into Tarantula, Boar, and clear up that Lake Placid is a croc - not a gator. Mike brings up Troll Hunter and Ric Flair and goes full Rampage on the Rock, and Milla Jovovich in Monster Hunter also gets an elbow off the top ropes. Sal brings up his love for “amazing” films like The Amazing 50 Foot Woman and The Amazing Colossal Man. Sam shares his love for the kaiju's of the Godzilla Franchise and Deep Rising. Peter Jackson's King Kong and Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim get brought up with the Cloverfield Franchise and we go on a side tangent about The House That Jack Built and the gore of the August Underground film series.

Renowned 'good' movie franchise Cloverfield has released a BRAND NEW film exclusively on Netflix a few weeks ago which was a big surprise to everybody. With the previous installments being held in very high regards by critics and fans, Paradox had big shoes to fill. While Oliver had seen the others, the 'Beyonce-Style' surprise drop left him just as ignorant about this new flick as Scott this week. With no expectations other than Oliver's previous knowledge of the franchise, can Paradox hold up to the high regard? Or would we prefer there be a hole in the spaceship that is the Cloverfield franchise where Paradox can be shot out into space to be long forgotten?  And as always we cap off the show with some fun games. The Filmlosophers, Eddie Villanueva, Chad Riley and Spencer Williams, screw up time and space with this week's review of The Cloverfield Paradox (2018). The surprise third installment of JJ Abrams' Cloverfield-verse, which dropped on Super Bowl Sunday on Netflix, is a cautionary tale that somewhat ties together the previous films in the series, Cloverfield (2008) and 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016). Even against a backdrop that includes a global energy crisis and tinkering with the multiverse with an out-of-this-world particle accelerator, the film's strength lies in its impressive cast and diverse characters. The Cloverfield Paradox stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Daniel Brühl, Zhang Ziyi, David Oyelowo, Elizabeth Debicki and more.

In Episode 74 of the Crooked Table Podcast, Robert Yaniz Jr. and Freddy Yaniz pop into the world of Netflix for a discussion of what they've been watching on the ubiquitous streaming service, including principally an in-depth review of surprise sequel The Cloverfield Paradox. Ten years after the franchise started with a found-footage monster movie, the J.J. Abrams-produced space horror show makes it way into subscribers' homes immediately following the conclusion of the Big Game. But is the marketing gimmick worth the gamble, or is Clover herself due for a cinematic fall from grace? Here we answer that question and look toward the future of the Cloverfield franchise, including this fall's fourth entry. We’re excited to hear your feedback as the Crooked Table Podcast continues to evolve. As usual, the show does feature explicit language and, as such, is best considered NSFW. Thanks for listening!
