This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris return to the start of the Monsterverse to discuss Godzilla for its 10th anniversary.Directed by Gareth Edwards, Godzilla kicked off the Monsterverse as a pair of giant kaiju called MUTOs emerge and wreak havoc across the globe. Their appearance also draws the attention of Godzilla, who hunts the MUTOs down as they challenge his role as the alpha predator of the Earth. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is Ford Brody, a Navy EOD soldier who is trying to get home to San Fransisco but keeps getting caught in the battle between the giant monsters. Zach and Chris talk about the lifecycle of MUTOs, the dramatically more serious tone compared to the current Monsterverse entries, the early death of Bryan Cranston, the awesome sense of size and scale, and more. You can watch Godzilla on Max.We want to hear your comments and feedback. Send them all to contact@everythingaction.com. In this week's episode of The Middle of Culture, Eden and I dive back into the legendary world of kaiju, focusing on the 2001 film "Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack." The title might be a mouthful, but the movie offers even more monstrous action! With Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah headlining, and an additional surprise monster appearance, the film delivers a thrilling showdown of epic proportions. We'll explore the human narrative within this colossal creature feature and discuss Godzilla's transition into modern times. Plus, does this film coexist with the 1998 "Godzilla" starring Matthew Broderick? We'll answer these questions and more as we dissect one of the most thrilling entries in the Godzilla universe.
What a lengthy title! After two box office failures, Toho overpowers the dream movie of their next director in order to ensure positive cash flow. The result? This film. Move over B and C-string monsters, the big boys of Mothra and Ghidorah are in town for this epic (with their side kick, Baragon)! Come join Joe and Adam as they discuss this "classic" and controversial Godzilla film, which sees Godzilla possessed by the souls of a previous generation as he (or is it they?) seek to punish Japan.
This week, Kyle lets out his inner kaiju as he sits down with monster expert Dr. Emily Zarka, creator and host of MONSTRUM on PBS' Storied channel. Together they discuss why we're so fascinated by giant monsters, their social implications, as well as why the likes of Godzilla, Kong, and Mothra hold such special place in our hearts.

The boys are back at it again with another Godzilla movie! This time with the longest title possible. In this one Godzilla is very hostile and spares no one, more so than usual. Everything feels a bit opposite with King Ghidorah being the good guy and Godzilla being the bad guy. In the end, it really was a Total Attack of Large Monsters. Our Links:Ian Wolffe
BRING BACK TACHIBANA, COWARDS! We have now arrived at the Millennium Era of the Godzillathon, and we're kicking it off with a classic that neither of us have seen in full! In this H.P Lovecraft classic, we listen to a story told by a nameless figure. A story about a certain strange man called Arthur Jermyn. As the title suggests, we listen to the life of this Arthur Jermyn and the peculiarities of both himself and his family. We hear about the family members and their strange unique obsessions with Gods and amazing mystical artefacts located far within the jungles of Africa. We are also told of what this ancient artefact did to the Jermyns, and how they all met their suspicious ends. Almost like they never existed. If you enjoyed listening to this episode or the podcast as a whole, feel free to rate the show and share your thoughts. It means a lot. The conclusion to Jakob Chapman's "Observation". Mik attends his second Observation experiment and is sent to another world, his mind his own, but in a foreign body. His interactions with the planet organisms soon prove hostile, and things only get more horrific when Mik suddenly wakes up outside his girlfriend Kessy's apartment carrying an itch inside him that is hidden from the world, until it is too late. "Observation" tells the story of a man called Mik, who volunteers to take part for the second time, in an incredible experiment which takes a persons consciousness and sends it across the solar system to different worlds. To observe the universe and prove humanity is not alone. But with some unpleasant side effects. Although Mik is drawn by a sense of duty to serve for the betterment of science and the exploration of space, his relationship with his girlfriend Kessy is falling apart as she tries exhaustingly to talk him out of it, telling him that the second Observation will most surely kill him. But Mik is firm with his decision, oblivious to what lies ahead, set by the ones in charge who's motivations are more sinister than science.Cast.Ted Huggins - Mik and NarratorDebs Wardle - KessyMars Lipowski - The Lead DoctorJustine Ghosty - Sam The ReceptionistEmma Griffiths - The NurseIf you enjoyed listening to this episode or the podcast as a whole, feel free to rate the show and share your thoughts in a review. Debs is a voiceover artist and comedy writer who although has only been in the VO industry for a little over 3 years, as Debs put it herself, she believes to have found her calling the moment she first stood in front of a microphone. As well as talking about Debs' humble beginnings as a VO, we also talk about a whole load of other subjects. Such as the usual tips and lessons she's learned along her journey so far, our fascination and admiration towards famous audio drama director Dirk Mags, her performance on Cryo Pod Tapes' Episode 21 Lone Orbit by Roger Ley, and the difference between bad script writing and good script writing, delving into detail while using examples from movies like Alien, Game of Thrones, and Transformers. There's that and more in this newest longest episode in Cryo Pod Tapes history, so we hope you enjoy it.If you enjoyed listening to this episode or the podcast as a whole, feel free to rate the show and share your thoughts. Our latest Animasterpiece begins with Susuke Kaneko's Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. Originally released in 2001, this film is the 25th entry in the Godzilla franchise overall and the third feature in the character's Millennium era. Godzilla returns for the first time since 1954, now possessed and empowered by restless spirits. This villainous version of Godzilla is ready to destroy Japan unimpeded. Yuri Tachibana is an intrepid young reporter who is researching the "Guardian Monsters", a trio of legendary kaiju who might be able to stop the King of the Monsters. The Guardian Monsters likely needed a bit more time to grow, unfortunately. Admiral Taizo Tachibana, Yuri's father, is determined to make his colleagues (both young and old) come to their senses and stage a proper defense against Godzilla. The stage is set for an explosive final confrontation in Tokyo. Just as Godzilla combines supernatural and manmade power, our heroes will have to employ a similar strategy. In this Conversation episode, I sit and chat with fellow voiceover artist and my friend, Brad Shaw. Brad has been in the creative industries all his life and has had experience as a theatre actor, a show reel producer, a murder mystery facilitator and of course, a voiceover artist. As well as delving into Brad's colourful career, we hear the story of how he created his VO training platform, Wonderland VO. Which started out as an audiobook project of Alice in Wonderland, in support of the NHS during the first Covid lockdown. We also talk about what makes acting, "good" acting and in brads opinion, why being part of a community of voiceovers can be one of the best things an aspiring VO can do.If you enjoyed listening to this episode or the podcast as a whole, feel free to rate the show and share your thoughts. "Hole" is a short story written in the over-the-shoulder perceptive with the story telling you what is happening, as if you, the reader, is the one experiencing what is happening in the story. In this story, a perfectly black, circular hole has appeared on the floor of your Livingroom. Your immense curiosity needs to know. Why is it there? How did it get there? And most importantly, where does it leads to? But what you may find at the end of the tunnel, might make you wish you never did.If you enjoyed listening to this episode or the podcast as a whole, feel free to rate the show and share your thoughts.
