Filmmaker and stunt coordinator David Leitch says it's easier to do stunts himself than direct his stunt performer friends. "You are responsible for their safety," he explains. "Your heart goes through your chest." His film The Fall Guy is about the unknown performers who put their lives on the line. He spoke with Terry Gross about barrel rolling cars, being lit on fire, and doing another take when everything hurts. Liza is off riding the mountains of Pakistan again, so it's her turn to pick a favorite from the archives, and it doesn't get much better than Debbie Evans Leavitt. She's a 7 time Taurus World Stunt Award winner, she's in the AMA Hall of Fame and the Hollywood Stunt Hall of Fame. She's got almost 400 movie and TV credits to her name, and was also one of the best trials riders in the world. But for us her most notable job has been that of Trinity on the Ducati in Matrix Revolutions which I believe to be the best motorcycle stunt in the movies ever done. Debbie tells us about her dad that got her into riding when she was six, some of the highs and lows of her career, and her whole family that shares in her love of motorcycles and stunts. Join Jim and Greg for the 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss the indictment of a Wisconsin judge for helping an illegal immigrant escape Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), President Trump's plan to lift sanctions on Syria, and George Clooney's story of President Biden's cognitive decline.First, after a quick note on the latest air traffic control concerns at Newark Airport, Jim and Greg welcome news of a grand jury indictment against Judge Hannah Dugan. She's accused of helping a criminal illegal immigrant avoid arrest by ICE. New reports suggest the judge went even further to shield the defendant from federal authorities. But with the case unfolding in deep blue Milwaukee, they wonder if the prosecution can actually win a conviction.Next, they analyze President Trump's announcement from the Middle East that he intends to lift U.S. sanctions on Syria and its new leadership. Is it a shrewd, strategic attempt to peel Syria away from Iran and Russia, or a premature reward for a leader with a long history in radical Islamist terrorism? Jim explains why he thinks Trump is making the right decision. Finally, they react to George Clooney's claim that President Biden failed to recognize him at a major fundraiser Clooney hosted in June 2024. While some on the right suggest Clooney was only alarmed because Biden's lack of recognition bruised his ego, Jim points to this as another example that Biden was not up to the job but Democrats and the media tried to cover for him until they couldn't any longer. Please visit our great sponsors:No missed calls, no missed customers with OpenPhone. Crisis Point, 3min., Romania Directed by Valentin Raileanu As a result of resource depletion, a virus outbreak stripping the afflicted of what makes them human and finally, war, humanity's sovereignty has fallen. In dwindling numbers, the survivors have been driven out of their homes in the search for safety, while a former soldier travels through the toxic environment in search of a cure. https://www.instagram.com/vali_stunt Get to know actor Diana Gheorghe What motivated you to make this film? Valentin Raileanu, a talented and successful stuntman, fight choreographer, camera operator, and my mentor in this wonderful field, has always had a passion for filmmaking and a wealth of insane ideas to bring to life. This passion led him to explore the subtleties of being a film director. When he proposed the idea of a post-apocalyptic short to me, I immediately knew we had to do it. I fell in love with the concept of showcasing a violent and harsh reality as a consequence of human recklessness. It was also a great opportunity for me to put my newly learned stunt skills to the test. Since I was young, I've loved acting and dreamed of participating in film festivals with my own projects. Even though this isn't our first project together, it is the first one we're submitting to festivals. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film? Approximately 10 weeks in total, give or take a few days. Pre-production lasted 5 weeks (for choreography, camera rehearsal, and preview), followed by 1 week of shooting, and another 4 weeks for post-production (editing and FX). We open with breaking news that both National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Deputy Advisor Alex Wong have resigned. I remind the audience about what I said when Signalgate first happened. We then dive into more topics related to immigration, deportation, conflicts of interest with judges and more. Then we show how the WSJ ran with a rumor piece, even after they were told it wasn't true. Next up, we dissect Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) who has filed seven articles of impeachment against President Trump. After making a mockery of each of them, I tell you what the real purpose is his stunt. Even members of his own party are distancing themselves from it. Data Republican found emails showing Hunter Biden was using USAID funds to channel into Burisma. Seems he was earning that monthly board salary after all. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) explains the DOGE cuts are not being codified by Congress because no one want to stop spending money. Gretchen Carlson has a hissy-fit over DOGE getting credit for IT improvements. A story of a Tesla terrorist member of the Transmafia caught my attention. I use it to illustrate the duplicity of liberal activist judges who reveal their woke ideology. In positive news, the CEO of Ford says they are in-line with Trump's tariffs and his strategy. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announces the execution of the mineral deal with Ukraine. And, finally, we get a moment of ironic joy from the Village Idiot of the House of Representatives, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX). Please take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. Join Erik and Tage this week as they are joined by Bryan and Olivia as they discuss their favorite Jungle Cruise jokes, what stunt shows the would make based off of an existing IP, what chain restaurants they would add to the parks, and the rides, shows, and experiences they think Disney never should have done. Support the podcast by going to https://www.thehubcrawl.com/support. Question 1: Although I'm sure there's more to it, the story goes that they started adding jokes to The Jungle Cruise after Walt heard a family say they didn't want to ride it because they had already done it before. Even as we approach its 70th anniversary along with the park, they're still constantly coming up with new jokes. My question is, what's your favorite Jungle Cruise joke? Question 2: I have Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular on my mind. If you could make a stunt show off another Disney property, what would it be? Question 3: DTD 2.0 seems to be adding in more chain restaurants/stores. What chain restaurant (can be a local or national chain) would you add into a Disney park/resort, where would it go, would it have a theme etc. Question 4: What is a ride/show/expereince that Disney Parks should never have done in the parks? Bonus Question: Alright - the inspiration for this is somewhat selfish as I am working on my "must do list" for WDW and it got me curious - what are your top 3 non- theme park must do things when visiting DLR or WDW. It can be something at any of the hotels, Disney Springs, Downtown Disney, etc? Basically anything that is on Disney property but not inside the gates of a one of the 6 theme parks.

Plus, Jim offers a quick update on where he was last week.First, they react to the passing of Pope Francis, who died just hours after attending Easter Sunday services at the Vatican. Jim and Greg reflect on Francis's 12-year papacy—highlighting how his comments on cultural and political issues often energized progressives before being walked back by Vatican officials. They also discuss how his views on climate change, wealth redistribution, and illegal immigration often frustrated conservatives. And they humorously clarify that Vice President J.D. Vance had nothing to do with the pope's passing.Next, they unpack a trip planned by four House Democrats to El Salvador to advocate for Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Jim criticizes the media's portrayal of Garcia as a harmless "Maryland Dad," drawing parallels to past sympathetic framing of problematic figures. He agrees Garcia should return to the U.S. for legal proceedings—before being deported back to El Salvador where he belongs. Finally, they enjoy the drama unfolding within the Democratic Party as David Hogg announces plans to back challengers to numerous sitting Democrats. Not only do Chris Hewitt, Helen O'Hara, and Alex Godfrey get into a discussion about what exactly makes a musical a musical (along with an impromptu visit to a certain mountain), but they tackle the week's movie news, including the revelation that the Oscars will finally have a Best Stunt Design category (note: this was recorded, due to the Easter holidays, before the new Fantastic Four trailer and Star Wars movie news. We'll get to those next week), and review Ryan Coogler's Sinners, Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza's Warfare, and the new Steve Coogan film, The Penguin Lessons. And if that weren't enough, our guest egg overcracketh, as Chris sits down with Steve Coogan and co-star Jonathan Pryce, [21:13 - 33:16 approx] and Sinners' genius composer, Ludwig Göransson, [1:31:25 - 1:45:01 approx] while Alex has an engrossing chat with Warfare's directors, Ray Mendoza and the other Alex G. [52:19 - 1:07:55 approx] And finally, there's an excerpt from Chris' wonderful spoiler special chat with The Monkey director, Osgood Perkins. [1:46:16 - 1:57:31 approx] Our full spoiler special for that movie is now up in our spoiler special feed. Phew, told you it was a packed show. Enjoy!
Last week, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’s Board of Governors announced it would add a new category to its awards ceremony starting 2028– Achievement in Stunt Design. This serves as a major win for the many stuntmen and stuntwomen who’ve lobbied for such an award, with their line of work having existed since the inception of film. Although stunts from the likes of Buster Keaton won’t ever be able to win such an award, there are plenty of recent films that have drawn crowds for their stunts. Whether it be the Mission Impossible or John Wick films, well-designed action sequences have kept moviegoers’ attention, which makes rewarding their stunt designers a great decision as we inch closer to the 100th annual Academy Awards. For this week’s FilmWeek feature, Larry and this week’s critics discuss this news with filmmaker and longtime stuntman, Chad Stahelski. With Terrell sick with his family, this week of the MalloryBros Podcast the Bros ironically talk VIRTUALLY about the recent trend of AI Apps recreating well known Artistic styles with the simple touch of a button. They speak about how that creates tension between Original Artists and the future of technology. Which should we honor? Speed or Originality? The Bros also give thoughts on the controversial situation with Marvin Sapp and how he raises money with his church. This is a sensitive topic because it's wrapped with religion, but of course the Bros give an honest critique to the viral clip that's resurfaced this past week. Next they speak on the popular Youtube show "Pop The Balloon or Find Love" whose creators just signed a new deal with Netflix to bring a special to Thursday nights. The Bros speak about what this means for creators and the heights that can be reached with a move like this. They also speak on if this is a good look for the culture or if some of the backlash is an overreaction. You decide. Later in the episode, Terrance speaks on an Emmitt Till fact that might actually shock you if you didn't know already, and the Bros end with a conversaton about Chris Brown's upcoming ERA's Tour and what this summer is about to look like for 2025 concerts. Of course with some "what you look like" bits in the mix, it's another week with the Boys!
