Peter Boghossian and Andrew Gallimore explore the profound effects of DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) on consciousness. They discuss DMT's production of robustly coherent environments and “non-adaptable perceptions” as a casual explanation of DMT realms. Andrew also shares insights into DMT's entities and intelligences and they devise a test for evaluating the ontological status of DMT realms.Andrew Gallimore is a neurobiologist, chemist, pharmacologist, and writer interested in the relationship between psychedelic drugs, the brain, consciousness, and the structure of reality. He is based in Tokyo, Japan.Watch this episode on YouTube.

In this Chinwag, Martin talks to his friend Richie about the first Ayahuasca experience they shared. The pair discuss the nature of DMT, the ceremonial use of Ayahuasca and psychedelics, and how DMT can create a transformative level of healing for mental health issues. Martin also talks about his experiences in Peru and the Brazilian Amazon, where he worked with Ayahuasca plant medicine with the Noke Kuin (Katukina) tribe. Ayahuasca is a Quechua term meaning "vine of the souls". In Brazil, the Quechua word translates into Portuguese as "hoasca", while our Noke Kuin friends call the medicine "Uni". The brew combines two plants: the bark of the Banisteriopsis Caapi vine and the leaves of a shrub called Chacruna (Psychotria Viridis). The common theme in any variation of this mixture is the potent existence of DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) — a powerful psychedelic compound. While first discovered by an English botanist (Richard Spruce) in 1851, physical evidence of the brew's use dates back as far as 1,000AD. The Noke Kuin say that Ayahuasca and countless other psychedelic healing plants have been used in the Amazon Basin since the dawn of time. From the beginning, the indigenous people knew of the medicine's powerful healing properties and function, allowing second sight and access to the spirit realm. Now, plenty of scientific research is emerging to support these plants' profound healing benefits. The leading addiction psychologist Gabor Maté regularly works with psychedelics and has produced a great deal of credible material on the subject. Meanwhile, in December 2021, Port Townsend became the 13th American city to decriminalise psychedelics, and the celebrity Will Smith recently admitted to working intensely with the medicine. Western medicine now accepts that these ancient therapies will have an essential role in mental health and wellbeing, specifically in neuropharmacology, neurophysiology, and psychiatry. We're on the brink of a global evolution in treating mental illness, and the amusing thing about it all? These medicines, which have been criminalised and vilified for decades, are and always have been the key to unlocking human potential on a level that will forever change the psychiatric, pharmaceutical, and mental health arenas. As Martin regularly says, "If the global population did an Ayahuasca ceremony simultaneously, I have every confidence there would be world peace." While a bold statement, he is not alone in his belief. If you're interested in the widespread use of ancient alternative medicines for mental health, then you're going to love this. Special thanks to Andres, Pajé Peno, Mõcha, Tamá, and the Noke Kuin, for their contributions to this episode. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/howtodiehappy/message
David Hawkins was formerly in the military, and like most veterans, had some difficulty adjusting back to regular civilian life. This podcast discusses how cannabis can be used as a tool or as a crutch and how cannabis therapy should lead to lifestyle treatments such as meditation, exercise, and fasting. David also discussed how DMT (Dimethyltryptamine, a hallucinogenic tryptamine drug) was an effective healing tool on his way to recovery.
Nick talks to neuroscientist & psychologist, Dr. Chris Timmermann, a scientist at the Centre for Psychedelic Research at Imperial College London. Chris led the first neuroimaging studies on the effects of the potent tryptamine psychedelic DMT on the brain. They discussed DMT and related psychedelics, including how DMT is normally consumed in both recreational and laboratory contexts, how people describe its effects, how it compares to psychedelics like psilocybin and LSD, and whether it is an endogenous compound present in our own bodies. Chris also described his research on how DMT affects patterns of brain activity, and what he hopes to learn from ongoing research, which includes extending the duration of DMT experiences from a few minutes up to 30 minutes per session. Georgia Mills investigates the psychoactive found in ayahuasca that may mirror near-death experiences
One of my main goals with the My Back 40 podcast is to explore my curiosities and cover topics that pique my interest. This podcast with Vince Hempsall, Managing Editor of Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine, is about a journey, not through the vast forests of British Columbia or across the deserts of Morocco, but a journey inward, deep into consciousness. After reading the story, Ayahuasca – Should You Do It? I was compelled to reach out to Vince to hear his story first hand and to hear what the Plant Teacher had shown him. For those of you not familiar, Ayahuasca is a beverage brewed from a combination of plants, one of which is rich with DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) a powerful psychedelic. The other plant is responsible for priming our biology to be more receptive to the psychedelic compound. Without this plant, the DMT would have no effect. Vince’s trip dredged up his deepest fears but also rewarded him with the insight that all things are connected and has changed the lens through which he looks at the world. I appreciated Vince’s vulnerability here as he unpacked his experience. If you have a moment, I would encourage you to read the article linked above. This will provide some context and perhaps more background about the compounds we discuss. This is my first departure from endurance athletics and though his account may terrify you, psychedelics have helped thousands of people face their demons and improve mental health. I became interested in the use of psychedelic compounds for mental health a couple of years ago. John Hopkins Center for Psychedelic & Consciousness Research who has been researching this area since 2000 and the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies are places to visit to gather more information about this research. I hope you enjoy this conversation. So let’s dive down the rabbit hole of reality and see what comes out the other side.
In Episode 29, I make the argument that #LIFI (Light Fidelity) and #DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) are proof that God created a swarm network. I also make the argument that they are also proof that God is an intelligent supercomputer that governs our consciousness. LiFi is a wireless communication infrastructure that uses infrared and visible light spectrum for high-speed data communication. Sounds familiar? Could our Sun and Moon be the nature version of God's LiFi communication infrastructure (Swarm Network)? I say yes. I point to the Egyptians, Romans, Aztecs, and India, who were all Sun Worshippers, as proof that the Sun was more than just a source of heat and light. If you buy my belief that our ancestors turned the planet into a supercomputer when they built the ancient megalithic structures like the pyramids, then this hypothesis makes more sense.Where does the #DMT fit into this hypothesis? I believe it is the hormone that links all life. #DMT is considered the "God particle," but one thing that is not always discussed is that the chemical compound found in all living things, including humans and other mammals; marine animals; grasses and peas; toads and frogs; mushrooms and molds; and barks, flowers, and roots. If DMT is found in all living things, then your brain can't the source of consciousness. DMT gives all life the ability to empathize with all other life -- the basis of the Swarm network. Days 2-4 of the Wim Hof Method workshop Before you start, have you read Part 1 & Part 2 yet?? http://www.livinglimitlessly.com/wim-hof-1 http://www.livinglimitlessly.com/wim-hof-2 Going deep With every day that passed, it became apparent that the more breathing we did that oxygenated our bodies, the deeper we went into our cells and did a big clean up. The waste was then released in all different ways. Some people had ‘interesting’ eliminations (think number 2); others had physical signs such as bruising all over their body; and the most common one for all of us was having an emotional release. It was not unusual to sit up after a breathing session & look around to see that most people were teary. Every day was different as to whether it tapped into just a small realisation or something really deep and profound. One person in the group had really huge releases & would sob uncontrollably at every session. This also meant that there was a lot of bonding amongst the group. I have to say that in my entire life, I’ve barely managed to see a single male get overly emotional. At the workshop, with 57 males all experiencing emotional releases, I’ve never seen so many guys cry in my life! It was amazing & such an important transformational shift for men to be able to show vulnerability like that. It’s good for the mind, body & spirit to let shit go! Migraine & WHM On day 2 & 3 I had a bad headache (for those of you that follow me, then you will know I suffer from migraine pain). The only good thing about having the migraine at the workshop was that I had the space & time to just let it be and play itself out. I didn’t add to it by stressing about having to go to work or needing to be somewhere. This in itself brought up a lot of ‘stuff’ for me. Luckily, there was a lady there that practiced kinesiology so she helped me to release those issues that contributed to my headache pain. Doing the WHM breathing was interesting, as the breathing in itself would make my head pound with pain. This makes sense as migraine's are vascular in nature, meaning they are to do with the blood vessels. Reduced blood flow in the veins results in, a lack of oxygen in the tissues, and changes in the brain’s chemistry. When an irritation occurs, fluid and protein leave the blood stream and enter the tissue spaces. This slows down the exchange of oxygen and nutrients at the cell level. This, in turn, causes the release of substances that greatly dilate the blood vessels. Local tissue injury and swelling occur as a result – which is why there is great pain associated with migraine. So whilst doing the WHM breathing, the veins would be contracting, causing even more pain. What was great though, is that an hour or so later after the breathing session, the headache would seem to subside and ease off a bit. This is most likely because the increased amounts of oxygen in the blood would also raise oxygen levels in the brain. More ice baths Evey day brought more ice baths & by the second day there were multiple sessions. The ice baths also grew in duration until, on the final day, it was for 10 minutes!! What’s important to note about the ice baths is that they are an important tool in this method. Aside from the health benefits of cold therapy, Wim also says that the reason for the ice baths are to remind us of how to use the WHM breathing technique correctly. Fundamentally, if you are in an ice bath & you do not do the breathing correctly, then you will not survive the ice bath without side affects. The ice bath forces you to focus on the method to ensure you are able to withstand the cold & to maintain your core body temperature. So many reasons to breathe! Knowing that you are able to consciously affect your autonomic nervous system is amazing. It is the only method that I have learnt where I can immediately see the benefits of how I have affected my body. The part of my body that would normally operate automatically without any conscious input from me. It’s beyond amazing. It’s what makes this method life changing. No longer am I at the whim (sorry! I had to do it!) of what my body wants to do, but what I, want it to do. It really makes me feel like becoming 'superhuman' is in the realms of possibility. Wim not only taught us how to breathe to regulate our core body temperature & raise our alkalinity, he also taught us how to activate our brown adipose tissue (aka BAT or brown fat). BAT burns at a higher metabolic rate than white fat, but unfortunately as we get older, we seem to lose it. With Wim’s help, we are able to regenerate more brown fat, which in turn, burns more energy. That means…you guessed it…a higher metabolism. Another amazing technique he taught us was how to access our own DMT (Dimethyltryptamine). Read more here... Blog Post for #18 A warning from Innerfire.nl - important message, please read carefully: The breathing exercise has a profound effect and should be practiced in the way it is explained. Always do the breathing exercise in a safe environment (e.g. sitting on a couch/floor) and unforced. Never practice the exercises before or during diving, driving, swimming, taking a bath or in any other environment/place where, should you pass out, a serious injury could occur. Wim Hof breathing may cause tingling sensations and/or lightheadedness. If you’ve fainted, it means that you went to far. Take a step back next time. The cold is a powerful force. We strongly advise to gradually build up exposing yourself to the cold. Always train without force and listen to your body carefully. If it is not practiced responsible, there is a risk of hypothermia. Do not practice the method during pregnancy or when having epilepsy. Persons with cardiovascular health issues, or any other (serious) health conditions, should always consult a medical doctor before starting with the Wim Hof Method.
