Dá o play pra ouvir nossa conversa! Welcome to another episode of The Tim Ferriss Show, where it is usually my job to interview world-class performers to tease out the routines, habits, et cetera that you can apply to your own life. This episode is something different. It's an exploration of my creative process, how I think about first principles, and how to get serious things done without being serious all the time. PROOF is creating community-centric products that celebrate art, connect collectors, and activate creative entrepreneurship. Under the PROOF umbrella, they have the PROOF Collective, a private collective of 1,000 dedicated NFT collectors and artists. And now, let's take a trip to crazy town, shall we? I hope you enjoy this as much as I did…*This episode is brought to you by Athletic Greens. I get asked all the time, “If you could use only one supplement, what would it be?” My answer is usually AG1 by Athletic Greens, my all-in-one nutritional insurance. I recommended it in The 4-Hour Body in 2010 and did not get paid to do so. I do my best with nutrient-dense meals, of course, but AG further covers my bases with vitamins, minerals, and whole-food-sourced micronutrients that support gut health and the immune system. Right now, Athletic Greens is offering you their Vitamin D Liquid Formula free with your first subscription purchase—a vital nutrient for a strong immune system and strong bones. Visit AthleticGreens.com/Tim to claim this special offer today and receive the free Vitamin D Liquid Formula (and five free travel packs) with your first subscription purchase! That's up to a one-year supply of Vitamin D as added value when you try their delicious and comprehensive all-in-one daily greens product.*This episode is also brought to you by Maui Nui Venison. I've been eating Maui Nui Venison for the past two years, and there's no going back. My pantry and freezers are full of it, and I restock every month. Why? (1) If I combine Maui Nui Venison with even a little exercise, I drop body fat unbelievably quickly. (2) It tastes delicious and isn't gamey. (3) Ethically, I feel great about Maui Nui protein, as axis deer are an invasive species on Maui, where their population needs to be managed in order to protect vulnerable ecosystems.Harvested using stress-free methods, Maui Nui's fresh venison is clean-tasting, tender, and one of the most nutrient-dense meats on the planet. Maui Nui is a nearly daily go-to for me, both as a supplement to my daily diet (with broth, jerky snacks, etc.) and through main courses (via their fresh-meat subscription program). I fell in love with this company so much that I ended up investing, which is a rarity.Tim Ferriss Show listeners can get 15% off on practically everything Maui Nui is offering by visiting MauiNuiVenison.com/Tim! We're trained in the West to address symptoms- not problems. For example, I do not have trouble with sobriety. This is because concurrent to getting sober, I began learning about spiritual psychology, which taught me about unresolved issues and deeper inner work. I then learned my drinking was a symptom, not a problem. For this, I don't relate to the traditional Western recovery model which focuses on willpower and disempowerment. I don't relate to the stories of people in recovery and their struggle with it. Shit was hard, but once the physical addiction was over, I never had to think about it again. All I had to do was work on myself. In the West, we treat our lives and the things that show up as holes in a leaky ship.We put bandaids on the holes and never look for the problems, yet the ocean of problems is powerful trying to bust through.Identity, limiting beliefs, and story are the things that disrupt our peace. We can use “goal line' strategies to temporarily deal with the symptoms, but without acknowledging and dealing with the problems, the symptoms will always persist. In this episode, I explain how this has shown up in my own life, along with talking about larger systemic factors you may not even be aware of.I also talk about the giant “purge” of decades of papers and receipts I had hoarded in my apartment, that seemingly, I did not know were there until I completed a bout of inner work that aided me in shedding an old identity.I also talk about changes to Day 1. that will make it the MOST EXCITING COHORT YET (complete with new resources.)Links mentioned in this episode:Dr. Gabor Maté's video on disease: https://youtu.be/c6IL8WVyMMsInformation/Join the Day 1. I do my best with nutrient-dense meals, of course, but AG further covers my bases with vitamins, minerals, and whole-food-sourced micronutrients that support gut health and the immune system. Visit AthleticGreens.com/Tim to claim this special offer today and receive the free Vitamin D Liquid Formula (and five free travel packs) with your first subscription purchase! That's up to a one-year supply of Vitamin D as added value when you try their delicious and comprehensive all-in-one daily greens product.*This episode is also brought to you by LinkedIn Marketing Solutions, the go-to tool for B2B marketers and advertisers who want to drive brand awareness, generate leads, or build long-term relationships that result in real business impact. With a community of more than 800 million professionals, LinkedIn is gigantic, but it can be hyper-specific. I wrote about the health benefits of using continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) more than ten years ago in The 4-Hour Body. At the time, CGMs were primitive and hard to use. Levels has now made this technology, and the unique insights that come from it, easy and available to everyone. Levels is making glucose monitoring simple, helping you see how food affects your health through real-time feedback. I started tracking my glucose years ago to learn more about what I should and shouldn't be eating (including quantities, time of day, etc.), based on objective data from my own, unique physiology. Keeping my blood sugar stable is critical to my daily and long-term health and performance goals. Furthermore, poor glucose control is associated with a number of chronic conditions like diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, heart disease, and obesity. It's important. If you're interested in learning more about Levels and trying a CGM yourself, go to Levels.link/Tim.*For show notes and past guests on The Tim Ferriss Show, please visit tim.blog/podcast.For deals from sponsors of The Tim Ferriss Show, please visit tim.blog/podcast-sponsorsSign up for Tim's email newsletter (5-Bullet Friday) at tim.blog/friday.For transcripts of episodes, go to tim.blog/transcripts.Discover Tim's books: tim.blog/books.Follow Tim:Twitter: twitter.com/tferriss Instagram: instagram.com/timferrissYouTube: youtube.com/timferrissFacebook: facebook.com/timferriss LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/timferrissPast guests on The Tim Ferriss Show include Jerry Seinfeld, Hugh Jackman, Dr. Jane Goodall, LeBron James, Kevin Hart, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Jamie Foxx, Matthew McConaughey, Esther Perel, Elizabeth Gilbert, Terry Crews, Sia, Yuval Noah Harari, Malcolm Gladwell, Madeleine Albright, Cheryl Strayed, Jim Collins, Mary Karr, Maria Popova, Sam Harris, Michael Phelps, Bob Iger, Edward Norton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Neil Strauss, Ken Burns, Maria Sharapova, Marc Andreessen, Neil Gaiman, Neil de Grasse Tyson, Jocko Willink, Daniel Ek, Kelly Slater, Dr. Peter Attia, Seth Godin, Howard Marks, Dr. Brené Brown, Eric Schmidt, Michael Lewis, Joe Gebbia, Michael Pollan, Dr. Jordan Peterson, Vince Vaughn, Brian Koppelman, Ramit Sethi, Dax Shepard, Tony Robbins, Jim Dethmer, Dan Harris, Ray Dalio, Naval Ravikant, Vitalik Buterin, Elizabeth Lesser, Amanda Palmer, Katie Haun, Sir Richard Branson, Chuck Palahniuk, Arianna Huffington, Reid Hoffman, Bill Burr, Whitney Cummings, Rick Rubin, Dr. Vivek Murthy, Darren Aronofsky, Margaret Atwood, Mark Zuckerberg, Peter Thiel, Dr. Gabor Maté, Anne Lamott, Sarah Silverman, Dr. Andrew Huberman, and many more.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Let's flash back to Budapest Hungary in 1944 where a little baby boy named Gabor lay crying in his crib. He wouldn't stop. Couldn't stop. His mother called the doctor who said, “All my Jewish babies are crying”.   Nazis had taken over the country and killed Gabor's grandparents in Auschwitz. Gabor's dad was put into forced labor and his aunt was missing. Today we understand that Gabor was experiencing trauma through his mother's stress.   His father thankfully returned after the war and when he was 12 years old, the family moved to Canada. Gabor went to the University of British Columbia before becoming a high school english teacher through the 60s and early 70s and then returned to university to become a doctor in 1977. Gabor spent over 20 years practicing family and palliative care medicine in the downtown Eastside of Vancouver -- a neighbourhood with one of the world's highest concentrations of drug addiction.   Today Gabor is the bestselling author of In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts, Close Encounters with Addiction, When the Body Says No, Scattered Minds, Hold Onto Your Kids, and his brand new New York Times bestseller The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness and Healing in a Toxic World.   I bought the book when it came out from Caversham Booksellers, which is North America's largest mental health bookstore and located in downtown Toronto. They told me Gabor had been by many times and proudly had all his books in the front window. I cracked it open and couldn't stop reading. Gabor is entrancing, passionate, and wise and I was thrilled to sit down with him at Penguin Random House headquarters during the Canadian leg of his international book tour.   We discuss: play, love, Jordan Peterson, innocence, attachment parenting, Winnie the Pooh, father-son relationships, identifying and healing from trauma, curiosity and living, shifting attitudes, formative books, and much, much more…   This conversation is a journey I don't think you'll soon forget. I find myself thinking about it nearly every day.   Let's flip the page into Chapter 115 now…   What You'll Learn: Why is loss of innocence so poignant? Why should we not give up play? How is love manifested? What is attachment parenting? Why is our culture so toxic? Why must we let kids manifest the full range of their emotions? How do you develop a strong father/son relationship? What is trauma? How can we begin healing from trauma? How can we build better connections with our children? How can we make sure we are meeting our children's needs? How do we balance curiosity and life? How should we choose to live? How can we learn to shift our attitudes towards events?   You can find show notes and more information by clicking here: https://www.3books.co/chapters/115   Leave us a voicemail. Each chapter discusses the 3 most formative books of one of the world's most inspiring people. Sample guests include: Brené Brown, David Sedaris, Malcolm Gladwell, Angie Thomas, Cheryl Strayed, Rich Roll, Soyoung the Variety Store Owner, Derek the Hype Man, Kevin the Bookseller, Vishwas the Uber Driver, Roxane Gay, David Mitchell, Vivek Murthy, Mark Manson, Seth Godin, Judy Blume and Quentin Tarantino. 3 Books is published on the lunar calendar with each of the 333 chapters dropped on the exact minute of every single new moon and every single full moon all the way up to 5:21 am on September 1, 2031. 3 Books is an Apple "Best Of" award-winning show and is 100% non-profit with no ads, no sponsors, no commercials, and no interruptions. 3 Books has 3 clubs including the End of the Podcast Club, the Cover to Cover Club, and the Secret Club, which operates entirely through the mail and is only accessible by calling 1-833-READ-A-LOT. I had to subscribe straight away your approach to living, healing and thriving really resonated with me. I have been on a long journey myself, finding depth and growth in physical exercise (mostly yoga and long hikes), meditation, and proper nutrition (mostly animal-based) which has led me from being an anxiety-ridden wreck ruled by an eating disorder, barely able to function in the world, to now working as a doctor and trying to help other people on their paths as best I can. I thought I would reach out to you because so many things you mention, the books and the words of wisdom you share, have also found a place in my soul (Gabor Maté! Nietzsche!) I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. Looking forward to reading your newsletter. I will check out the youtube channel later. The fact is that the modern world, with its proliferation of hyper-palatable foods designed by scientists and billion-dollar marketing firms, demands you to be disciplined. In this short episode I share some of my reflections about the creation of my latest program The Liberating Motherhood Experience. This is a program that I've been thinking about for many months but it's been within the space of a week that the program structure has landed with me (while listening to the audiobook of Gabor Maté's latest book, which I reference in the program). In this episode I share what WOULD be an 'easy' and 'appealing' selling point when it comes to the liberation of motherhood, but one that I believe is not actually possible.... I then share where I think our place of agency and power is in what we CAN do in the working towards the liberation of motherhood. Within this episode I walk you through the narrative arc of The Liberating Motherhood Experience and what you can expect from the program. Join The Liberating Motherhood Experience for $50AUD and joining before Saturday 12th November, 2022 gives you access to a live 90min group call + replay, where we come together in connection and reflection on how we witness/experience motherhood and what it means to ENACT a practice of liberation. A founding-consultant for the award-winning GreencityLofts, he was co-convenor of a 40-country World Spirituality Conference in India, consultant to the Johns-Hopkins Psilocybin Study, chantmaster with San Francisco band, Axis Mundi and co-president of the Association for Transpersonal Psychology. He is author of Advanced Spiritual Intimacy and Words From The Soul. This conversations explores Stuart's history, whilst also examining his perspective on what is essential for the future of humanity. Victoria and Stuart cover: What authentic tantra offers as a chemical, emotional and consciousness experience - and how that has the potential to transform intimacy as we know it The implications of a transformation of intimacy - everything from ending child abuse to preventing the need for abortion, through to conscious conception and the prevention of trauma through the embodied presence of the parents How short the modern world falls when it comes to its understanding of kundalini, tantra and all ancient traditions The chemistry of tantra and how this ties to the modern scientific research now being conducted into chemicals Exactly how Stuart prevented a mass shooter from enacting their plan, and supported those in the deepest of pain to emerge from their suffering - by NOT focusing on the trauma or past, but by encouraging and endorsing the miracle of their humanness What leaders in the field (Gabor Maté, Peter Levine, Stephen Porges) are missing when it comes to resolving the problem of trauma How to speak from the potential of human perspective, not human pain This is a broad, immersive and expansive conversation where Victoria's mind and understanding is tested and stretched - as you will hear. Dr. Gabor Maté (addiction, stress, and childhood development speaker & bestselling author) joins us to explain which groups of people tend to be most prone to chronic illness, practical ways we can prevent these diagnoses, and the link between childhood trauma and mental & physical health conditions later on in life. He details health conditions you may not know have stress-related causes and explains why healthy attachment and meeting a child's needs is even more important than we think. Dr. Maté identifies characteristics of those who are prone to chronic illness, reveals why autoimmune diseases predominantly affect women, and discusses the dangers of systematic denial of our emotions. He and Mayim consider the ways well-meaning loving parents can unintentionally create lower level trauma in their kids, how feelings of being unwanted can lead to workaholism, and the limitations of a traditional nuclear family.
