What happens when a young man raised in a devout Catholic environment faces the very worldly temptations he's been taught to avoid? Augie shares his compelling journey from double-mindedness and addiction to a life dedicated to faith and service. Augie's story is a testament to the transformative power of divine grace. In a deeply personal chapter, Augie recounts his time with Icon Ministry founded by Father Rob Galea. A pivotal homily by Father Rob shifted his entire perspective, leading to a vision that symbolized his struggles and ultimate freedom from addiction. Learn how surrounding himself with faithful individuals and committing to a life of holiness has led Augie to a deeper connection with God, shaping his role in the ministry and his approach to everyday life. Moreover, Augie's transformation didn't stop there. The profound experience of fatherhood has only deepened his relationship with God. Through the trials of overcoming addiction and the joys and responsibilities of parenting, Augie discusses how the unconditional love he has for his children mirrors God's love for us. The episode wraps up with insights into the power of the Holy Spirit, the importance of unity in the church, and a heartfelt appreciation for the Eucharist. Send us a textSupport the show

“Explain the resurrection to me in two minutes without using any church language.” This is the challenge that Father Rob Galea sets for his staff to ensure they can easily relate to the young people they serve. “That takes practice, and that takes hanging out with the kids and understanding the way they speak, the way they reason.” Rob, originally from Malta, is now a priest in the Diocese of Sandhurst, Victoria, Australia. He has amassed a hundreds of thousands-strong following across social media platforms and is also a popular singer and songwriter who once auditioned for X-Factor Australia. Today, Rob leads Icon Ministry—formerly FRG Ministry, a global media and outreach apostolate that significantly expanded its reach over the pandemic years. On “Preach,” Rob delivers a homily for the Fourth Sunday in Lent, Year B, also known as Laetare, or Rejoicing Sunday. When asked about effective preaching strategies to use when ministering to young people, Rob suggests preachers allow themselves to become vulnerable and share current, real-life experiences. “Start with you, with your struggle, with someone, or something that happened within the school, something that they know,” he says, “And, for goodness' sake, stop using church language.” Read the full text of this week's homily and Scripture readings. Father Rob and Jim talk about their impressions on going through the consecration to Mary, how it compares to the consecration to St Joseph and the impact the past 33 days have had on their lives. We've been podcasting for a year and we are going to go on hiatus for a while. We will still be accepting emails at mail@2rgathered.com. and you can always post on our Facebook page! Thanks for listening from Fr Rob and Jim!!
Father Rob and Jim do a bad job talking about the complex Catholic themes woven in Lord of the Rings. Give a listen and you may find something out you didn't know about this masterpiece of fiction. Also go listen to these guys at the Burroshire Podcast who do a much longer breakdown https://burrowshirepodcast.com/catholicism-lord-of-the-rings/
Father Rob and Jim start the 33 day consecration to the Blessed Mother today (I know we said the 8th. We screwed up). We talk a bit about our consecration t St Joseph and what drew us to this consecration. Here is the link to the book. We would LOVE to have people join us on the journey! https://www.amazon.com/Days-Morning-Glory-Do-Yourself-ebook/dp/B00DJDZMXK/ref=sr_1_2?crid=KDHQCO2WGXKU&dchild=1&keywords=33+days+to+morning+glory+book&qid=1630774868&sprefix=33+d%2Caps%2C192&sr=8-2
Father Rob walks us through the life and the works of St Jane Frances de Chantal and her friendship with St Francis de Sales. Also we are trying to talk less and get to the point more! Here is a link to the book on the concecration to Mary that we are starting Sept 8 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DJDZMXK/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_17FVPYFD51KCY56DZ1V3
Father Rob is back and we're discussing what many say is our greatest emergency in the Church. How do we get our youth back? Research shows that for every 1 convert to the Church 6.45 people leave us. The discussion is a little long but we hope you find it worthwhile. Here is a connection to Bishop Barron's Podcast which covers this topic in multiple episodes. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-word-on-fire-show-catholic-faith-and-culture/id1065019039
Longtime friend Father Brian Lynch fills in once again while Father Rob is leading a 30 day retreat! email us at mail@2rgathered.com
