Donald Trump announced that the U.S. reached a trade deal with the European Union, following pivotal discussions with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen days before the Aug. 1 tariff deadline. The deal imposes a 15% tariff on most European goods to the U.S., including cars. Some products, including aircrafts and their components, some chemicals and pharmaceuticals, will not be subject to tariffs, von der Leyen said in a briefing after the agreement was announced. She also said that the new 15% tariff rate would not be added to any tariffs already in effect. The next generation of golfers hoping to follow in the footsteps of Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry have been put through their paces in East Clare this week. Bodyke has been the scene for the latest Junior Camp at East Clare Golf Club. The club is home to a Dr. Arthur Spring designed Championship parkland course, which is idyllically situated in the rolling East Clare landscape just a stone's throw from Lough Derg. On Monday and Tuesday this week, a host of young golfers have been levelling up their game, sharpening their swing, and having fun on the fairways! Alan Morrissey made the trip to East Clare Golf Club to chat with some of Clare's talented young golfers, as well as the club figures helping them to grow their game.
