When you make a living doing what you love, you don't have to work a single day in your life. If you're feeling that it's not the case with you, then you should change your mindset with the help of mentors. Flavia Leal is one of the best mentors concerning this that you can ever find, especially if you're in the beauty industry. Check out this new episode of the Super Entrepreneurs Podcast, and join this heartwarming conversation with Flavia Leal. Who Is Flavia Leal? By changing her life and being honest to herself, Flavia Leal launched a whole business that changes other people's lives. The nightmares of her life didn't break her spirit even when she was nearly a millionaire, but on the negative side. Her love and dedication spring from a high feminine, motherly energy that she shares with us in this conversation with our host Shahid Durrani. How is Flavia Leal Super? Flavia's innermost superpower is her desire to always help people. She elevates beauty to a high level. For her, beauty can also be a form of therapy that enhances our interpersonal relationships. And she's teaching a whole generation her method. Shahid Durrani's Key Insight: Shahid Durrani finds the story of Flavia Leal very inspiring because of the value it provides to other people, not the profits that her business generates. When you come from a dark place where you almost lose everything and still manage to keep your head up high, that's the formula for success. People who emerge from such dark places with good life lessons usually solve social problems and provide value, which is why they also get value back.

Fridays For Future is a youth-led movement that began in August 2018. This movement was inspired by 15-year-old Greta Thunberg and other young activists, who sat in front of the Swedish parliament every school day for three weeks, to protest against the lack of action on the climate crisis. While Greta has become a household name, there are many other young activists around the world who are also making a vital contribution by pressuring their governments to undertake climate action. Our guest – Hilda Flavia Nakabuye – is one of these inspiring young African leaders. While pursuing her university studies in Kampala, Hilda began to acquire a nuanced understanding of the causes of unpredictable rainy seasons, frequent heatwaves, droughts and floods that she had witnessed growing up in southern Uganda. Indeed, she began connecting the dots and realized that much of what she and her family had experienced (and what her country continues to experience) was and is caused by climate disruption. She therefore decided to become a climate and environmental rights activist and founded Uganda's Fridays for Future movement in 2019. Summary: It's a holly, jolly holiday here on Hearts & Daggers! Today, Holly and Devin discuss books set during this holiday season. Whatever holiday you do (or don't) celebrate, these co-hosts appreciate the season for its coziness, the twinkling lights, and an excuse to spike hot chocolate with Bailey's Irish Cream before the seasonal depression really hits. Both books this round are on the lighter side, and for Holly that means just one (1) murder. Topics Discussed: The Heart (5:26): Devin discussed The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox, a book chockablock full of fun romance tropes. Cass and Charlie are identical twin sisters living very different lives; Charlie is a glamorous cooking show co-host down in LA, while Cass helps run their parents' bakery in their quiet, quaint hometown. Due to a series of unfortunate (or fortunate?) events, they switch places without telling anyone and get a taste for how the other twin lives. Her key takeaways were: Written under a penname by two Canadian journalist/authors, The Holiday Swap is a delightful combo of The Princess Switch, The Parent Trap, and the entire Hallmark Channel without, somehow, being too much in a single book. Cass and Charlie are endearing protagonists and their love interests (a Physician's Assistant and a Firefighter) are unique, interesting, and just the right amount of stereotypically hunky. Unlike many holiday romances, the side characters in this novel are well-rounded and complete, adding depth to a light romance that does in fact include a small-town holiday festival with vendor booths, hot coco, and ice skating. The Dagger (20:28): Holly discussed I Am Half Sick of Shadows by Alan Bradley, the fourth book in the Flavia de Luce mystery series. Set at Christmastime in 1950s England, Flavia's family rents their derelict mansion out to a film crew for the holidays after they fall on hard times financially. Flavia is principally focused on finally catching Santa by concocting a glue that will stick him to the chimney flue, but when someone is found murdered in the mansion this 11 year-old pivots with gusto. Her key takeaways were: Written from Flavia's point of view, the book runs rampant with philosophical, literary, and mythological references with lots of dry wit and humor that allows our youthful protagonist to really shine. Bradley weaves in some Sherlockian moments in the novel; Flavia has chemical expertise and attention to detail that helps her notice aspects of crime scenes or corpses that the detectives all miss. Overall, the mystery itself was a bit lacking but the biting wit of the writing and a young narrator we can root for made this novel a true holiday delight for anyone who loves murder but also cozy season. Hot On the Shelf (44:27): Devin: Kiss Her Once For Me by Alison Cochrun Holly: The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon What's Making Our Hearts Race (47:34): Devin: Single All The Way on Netflix Holly: The Menu (film) Instagram: @heartsanddaggerspod Website: www.heartsanddaggerspod.com If you like what you hear, please tell your friends and rate and review us on Apple Podcasts and Spotify so that we can find our perfect audience.

Stand Up & Speak Up with host Debby Montgomery Johnson and special guest, Flavia Powell, from Norwich, UK. Flavia grew up in Romania with outhouses and sunflower toilet "paper" - smooth as a babies' behind! She flittered about "carefree" while living in a home filled with stress and abuse. She was taken away from communism to a promised life in the UK where university and living expenses were to be taken care of by her "guardian angel." That "angel" groomed her to take care of HIS "needs" and when she realized her ideal life was less than ideal and wanted to leave, she was cut off and put out. Flavia's story wasn't told until she was grown and the trauma came out again when she wrote her story in Notes To My Younger Self, Vol 2, in the Pay It Forward Series. She and Debby are "book sisters" and both live with knowing their "stories" were meant to be told to help one "sister" in the world and they have. This show is about Abuse, Self-destructing behaviors, Negative Emotions, and RESILIENCY! Our pain can become our purpose and our passion. #Sexual Abuse #Verbal Abuse #Living Under Communist Rule #SMILES #Healthy Relationships To contact Flavia Powell: www.flaviapowell.co.uk/

Her novels established her as a master storyteller, but she also wrote plays, short stories and biographies. Haunting and atmospheric, her work occupies a unique place in 20th century literature, appealing to a broad audience yet worthy of literary merit. Daphne du Maurier's first novel, The Loving Spirit, was published in 1931 to critical acclaim. She married Major Frederick Arthur Montague ('Boy') Browning in 1932 and had her first daughter, Tessa, in 1933. Her frank biography of her father, Gerald: A Portrait (1934) shocked some of her father's admirers but also gained her recognition as a talented writer. In 1936, publication of Jamaica Inn propelled her to the top of the best-seller lists. An unhappy period in Egypt as an army wife gave rise to Daphne du Maurier's best-known novel, Rebecca (1938). An intense study of female jealousy, Rebecca was made into a successful film in 1940, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Frenchman's Creek (1941) and Hungry Hill (1943) followed, both of which were also made into successful films. She had another daughter, Flavia, in 1937, and a son, Christian, in 1940, and while her husband was away at war, she moved back to Cornwall with the children to live in 'Menabilly', a house which she had loved since her early 20s. During and after the war, the du Mauriers' marriage became strained. This prompted her to write a play, The Years Between (performed in 1944), which explored the effects of war on marriage. My Cousin Rachel (1951) was followed by two collections of short stories, The Apple Tree (1952) and The Breaking Point(1959); the latter was also influenced by her psychological stress. The Scapegoat (1957), a novel exploring themes of stolen identity and the self, is appreciated by critics as a more serious work, though at the time it was pigeonholed as another of her romantic thrillers. In 1963, Alfred Hitchcock's film version of her short story The Birds, was released and became a cult classic. The death of her husband, in 1965, affected Daphne du Maurier profoundly and her unease was compounded by a growing sense that her imaginative talent was waning. Unable to renew the lease on her treasured home, Menabilly, she moved to Kilmarth, in Par, where she wrote the well-received The House on the Strand in 1969, the same year that she was made a DBE. She subsequently entered into a period of creative and personal decline, culminating with a nervous breakdown in 1981. She died at home in Cornwall in 1989 at the age of 81.From https://www.bl.uk/people/daphne-du-maurier. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A mãe, no caso, seria a própria Rosalba.
