This Bible study devotional covers Judges 6-8. In this passage, we read about Gideon's army of 300 men defeating the Midianites. As always, we are committed to showing you how to see the good news of the Gospel in every passage of Scripture. In Judges 6-8, we see Gideon's cowardice, pride, reluctance, and violence compared with the brave, humble, and sacrificial kingship of Jesus. For more information about Spoken Gospel visit: https://www.spokengospel.com We believe the only path to transformative Bible engagement is to see Jesus and his gospel wherever you are in the story. Jesus taught that he can be seen on every page of the Bible. Only by seeing the light of the Gospel in the face of Jesus can we be transformed into his image (2 Cor. 3:18, 4:6). We want to help people engage with every corner of the Bible in a transformative way. To that end, we are making Christ-centered, devotional podcasts that cover every chapter of the Bible. They are brief field guides through every passage of scripture that explain each chapter within its context and how it reveals more about the good news of Jesus. The Gospel changes things. Through our resources, we hope to create growing, deepening, and transforming Bible engagement that reshapes individuals, churches, and cultures with the Gospel. And we hope that you will join us in that mission.

Documentary filmmaker Dawn Porter joins MTR critics Ro and Joi for a video interview about her latest project John Lewis: Good Trouble that premiering July 3, 2020. Who is Dawn Porter? Dawn Porter has a documentary style uniquely suited to walking Representative Lewis to walk through his own legacy. This isn't the first time she's turned her focus on the work for equal rights. She's turned her lens on the work Black public defenders do fighting for justice in a discriminatory southern legal system in Gideon's Army. Her 2016 film, Trapped, follows the trench war over reproductive rights in states like Alabama, Mississippi and Texas. Porter's skillfully leads her subjects to the heart of the matter in ways that enlighten, humanize and challenge. Settle in as Dawn Porter fields questions, shares her motivation and the direction for this look at Elder Statesmen John Lewis, and her process for deciding how to approach his legacy. Good Trouble is Always Relevant, but Definitely Timely This interview took place on June 2nd just as people took to the streets and Black people declared they had had enough. In the midst of the swirling upheaval and calls for redress, Good Trouble feels right on time. Be sure to check out Ro's review and chat with Joi about the documentary.  "Good Trouble" will be available on VOD and in virtual cinemas beginning Friday, July 3. The book of Judges records a spiritually and politically turbulent period in Israel's history between the death of Joshua and the life of Samuel. In this episode of "Pictures of the End," discover the parallels between this period of Israel's history and Bible prophecy's "time of the end," during which God is calling back His people today with thunderous messages from heaven!
In this episode, we'll offer a strong word of encouragement regarding the decline times that we live in by looking at Gideon’s army in Judges 6-7 and seeing how that relates to the advance of the gospel in John 6-7. We will see that dwindling numbers in the church are no reason for despair. In fact, they should even cause us to take heart, expecting that God is sanctifying his church and preparing her to do great evangelistic works in our own generation._______*We had hoped to record and publish this episode almost a month ago. Do to family health emergencies this kept getting pushed back, and I didn't have my normal time to study and prepare slides for this episode. So, if the quality of this episode is less than you've come to expect, I sincerely apologize, but we felt like we needed to push and get this one out there so that I could begin preparing for our Reformation Day Special episode. Nevertheless, we hope that this episode is a great encouragement to you in the advance of the gospel.
