Devotional Christian Poetry  Lloyd Portman pt 2 Poetry has been referred to as “the love language.”  You know, “Roses are red, violets are blue, you're so sweet that I love you.”  Yup – that's about the extent of Brother Bob's poetry creativity. Thank God we have the Bible, where the Psalms are just FILLED with poetry. Think about it, David just sat there, under the tree, watching the sheep. He spent his days contemplating God. He spent time worshipping God. He spent time writing poetic songs to HIS GOD!  And what did God have to say about all this?  “David is a man after my own heart!” AMEN! Today's guest is a man of God that I've known for a few years now. In fact, we have the same birthday, just half a world apart! Amen! We call each other our “twin.” Amen! But he has been anointed with a special gift to use poetry to show people the Light of the Gospel! Praise God! Lloyd Portman is from “down under” in New Zealand!  It is early morning there so I would not be surprised to hear a cup of coffee every now and then – Praise God!  I've got mine here too! Amen. And it is mid-afternoon here! Like I said, I've known Lloyd for a few years and we always have a great conversation every time we manage to get together for a few minutes… and today, we are recording it for YOUR benefit. Glory to God! Lloyd is semi-retired now, but he had his own farm, he has worked construction and, adding to the list – he was a pastor for 12 years of a Pentecostal Church in his town.  Lloyd has helped so many people over the years because of his ability to LISTEN. He hears what they are saying and he has the God given ability to see through the clutter and bring them a Word for God in due season and to give them the guidance of the steps they need to move forward. And, as I have referenced, he has a God given gift for poetry. Not just fanciful lines on random subjects, but on sharing the Gospel message inside the poems. This is part two of a great two part interview! Before we get into some of the details of how your new website and program work, do you have an example poem you can share with us? Come Now . . . Come to the table of My Heart,  the table of reasoning.  We can discuss  issues tripping you up  and work together on them. I am the one  who washes your scarlet  transforming it to pure snow. Please don't resist or hide. The door to My Heart  is always open.  You can't do this alone! The table of reasoning  becomes the table  of Friendship and Exchange.  Rags for riches,  Righteousness for unrighteousness! It's free to exchange  As you trade  the rights to your life, losing your life . . . To Gain It. Can you explain this poem, its meaning, its intent, etc.? Explain to us how your website and your membership will work… Lloyd, this is so interesting. You know I'm a big fan of your work and I know our listeners would really, truly get a lot out of this program you have started. Share with us again, how can someone obtain more information, get in touch with to ask a question, etc? Folks, Lloyd is as...

The first question I always ask is, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Lloyd Portman?” I remember having to write poems in school and I hated it. I could never get my rhymes to rhyme right or the prose to end right. It was always out of synch in some form or fashion.  Does this come naturally for you? When did you realize that poetry was “your calling?” How did it evolve to where you are at today with your poetry? What is your new website for called?  Devotional Christian Poetry. You've used your poetry to minister to people in a variety of circumstances and callings and to help them with encouragement and direction in their life when they needed it.  You also give all the credit to the Holy Spirit in guiding you in writing these individualized poems, correct? What are the goals of your new website?  What are you hoping to accomplish? Devotional - For your personal devotions. Revelational - Receiving revelation about a subject or an issue  Group Study - Content for a study group.  Before we get into some of the details of how your new website and program work, do you have an example poem you can share with us?

Rachel Dube is a busy mom of five, an author, editor, and Christ-follower. Be blessed today as we listen to a reading of one of Rachel's poems from Voice of Truth, "These Broken Bones Will Rejoice."   **** Become a monthly donor at www.womenworldleaders.com to receive a copy of Voice of Truth as our thank you!   These Broken Bones Will Rejoice by Rachel Dube  Crushed.Dreams are crushed.Paint the sky black and turn the flowers to dust.I don't want to see the sky glimmer in gold at sunset.I don't want even familiar faces, much less those I haven't met. The laughter of my heart that sang and dancedLike the grass of the field when the wind sweeps byIs quiet, except when I have to fake it. And as soon as I'm alone, all I can do is cry. Make me the wind Without feeling or home or connections.Set me free in the world to run in all directions.I was once a fresh apple,But I rolled out into the sun.Days ago, I was lively, luscious red,Shouting, “Life is delicious!” But now I am dead. And because I am withered and my color is gone,I don't want color in any part of the world.I want every hum to be my sad song.I have my black and white piles of paint And I mix them together furiously.I paint scores of life's most beautiful things,But they all turn out as gray monotony. But somehow amidst the darkness,  Just when I've decided to lay down and let life beat me, Bright colors, full life and deep love,Though seemingly distant, still pursue and entreat me.Because Jesus himself, God who became manDied on a cross on the darkest of days,So that when I say I can't wake up He tells me I can. He reminds me that He didn't die And come up from the deadFor me, who has His power as my strength, To be a withered, hardened heart who won't get out of bed. He tells me that when there isn't a note Of music anywhere around,To listen to His promises, a symphony of hope, Sweeter than any sound.I feel Him in my heartBreaking down its walls, Building windows and doors, Letting light pour into its halls. My creator, who knows me, Knows every detail of my days.He holds me in His handAnd tells me to trust His ways.I am a jar of clayOn His spinning wheel.I sometimes ask Him to stop the molding,But He refuses to make that kind of deal. He tells me I am a special jarMade for a purpose very specific. He says that the things He's working in meAre not projects that are quick. They often require the clay to be crushed.I tell Him, “That one sounds familiar.”He says He wants me to look like His perfect Son, And I am nowhere near there. So here I am in this worldOf dark grays and tears and pain, With light pouring in me from my SaviorWhose life and love are the hope for mineBecause He has no shadow due to change. His promises are for my soul: water, bread and blood. His life in me gives life colorAnd an ark above this flood. Lord, teach me in this very momentTo lean on Your grace and trust in Your love.Transform my hours of worry and tearsTo hours and days of time well spent.I need You to hold me togetherBecause I can't stop falling apart.Show me that You can walk on waterAnd calm the storms raging in my heart. Put new life in me With every new day's sunrise. Whether it peers through my blinds in the morning,Or hides behind cloudy skies.Satisfy me.Fill me up to the brim.So that every small joy Makes my cup spill over. And whether blessing or trial,These broken bones will rejoice in Him.

She graduated from Overbrook High School in Philadelphia & earned an Associate Arts Degree from Southern New Hampshire University in 2019. Teresa has an extensive background in the Customer Service Healthcare field. Teresa surrendered her life to the Lord 22 years ago and has faced some struggles but has never given up on Christ. Teresa is a mother of one biological daughter, a grandmother of three, and a friend to many. God has blessed Teresa with a heart for helping people and the gifts of administrative help in the corporate world and ministry. Teresa is passionate about cooking; (ask folks about her potato salad and banana pudding) and most passionate about writing. Her writing extends into instructional documentation, short stories, and, her favorite, poetry. Teresa has been writing since a young teen, authoring stories, plays, and songs. Her writing talents went to another level when she gave her life to Christ. She has prepared many theme-based poems and writings for women's conferences and family dedications and continues to write about the wrongs and rights of life, always giving God the glory. ‘Seeds, Trees, Branches & Leaves, Teresa's first book published in May 2021, is a compilation of poems and ‘stories' summing up testimonies of life Before and After HIM, with the purpose of sharing how life's journey and knowing Christ changed her life. The book is available on Amazon and other outlets. Teresa continues in ministry circles, being fed in the word and creatively sharing what has been learned about Jesus and the Kingdom of God. She has a heart for hurting women and hopes to help them find healing from their pain by expressing what they have been carrying so it will no longer hinder their future progress.
