The Hamilton Today Podcast with Scott Thompson: How "infinity mortgages" really impact homebuyers, mortgage default rates and the economy is not so very clear, according to experts. What to expect at The CNE this year. What should Hamiltonians be prepared for if there is a service interruption due to striking city workers next week, and how can they prepare? The Canadian Home Builders' Association (CHBA) said in a recent report that high construction costs and rising interest rates are hurting developer confidence in the market. Two out of three builders tell CHBA that they're building fewer units, while 22 per cent of developers have fully cancelled projects in recent months. Steven Guilbeault, Canadian Minister of Environment and Climate Change is heading to China later this month in an effort to convince Xi Jinping's government to change it ways with handling climate change concerns. Nearly two years after announcing our GROW Solutions Center, Jamie Orr, GROW Agronomy Lead, and Janette Smith, GROW Grain Lead, join Ashley on the podcast this week to share the GROW Solution Center's accomplishments thus far and discuss how they are putting farmers' needs at the forefront of Landus.   With a growing virtual team made up of agronomists, grain marketers, and data analysts, the Landus GROW Solutions Center is making it easier than ever to connect with growers and answer any questions they may have.  “[Farmers] aren't working 9-5. They start their mornings early and they finish their nights late. They work weekends. So, the virtual team helps them be better. We're here to answer their questions...It's just about being there when the farmer needs you most.” - Janette Smith, GROW Grain Lead  While the GROW Solutions Center continues to serve as a form of constant communication, it has also been used as a tool to establish meaningful relationships between Landus and our farmer-owners. Making it known that we are there to support growers every step of the way has been a major goal. With over 3,700 grain accounts and 95% of agronomy customers contacted, it is safe to say their team is doing just that.   Jamie explains that by reaching out, Landus is better able to understand and serve the farmer of tomorrow; one that has a succession plan, operates sustainably, and is self-sufficient. Whether it be on the phone, in person, or through the Landus portal online, pairing the work of the virtual GROW team with our field teams helps to provide service to the farmer in any way they need us. If you have any questions regarding your operation, please contact the GROW Solutions Center at 515-800-GROW(4769).  Follow us on our social media channels: https://linktr.ee/landusag

In this episode, Christine talks to friend and colleague Janette Smith. Janette is a freelance director and actor trainer, and has a lot of interesting thoughts about what she's looking for from actors vocally. This episode is especially relevant for actors who are in training or who are thinking about training, but is also useful for all professionals! Themes that come up are: - actors need to know their instruments: how to use them and what their limits are. - There is nothing worse for the audience than hearing actors hurting themselves. Audiences don’t like watching someone hurt themselves-- it takes them out of the story. - The difference between ease and relaxation. - Actors need to be more aware of how much an audience listens-- that they absorb sounds of words as well as meaning, and that listening to live actors means audiences can feel, as well as hear their voices. - Actors have to be multi-skilled. This job takes a lot of craft. - Directors have to work in a very different way with unskilled actors than trained actors who understand their body and voice. We'd love to hear thoughts and questions that this conversation brings up for you. Email us at bespoke.comcontact@gmail.com.
