POPULARITY
As horror fans, it's hard enough trying to keep up with all the movies—let alone the memorabilia and collectibles—but just imagine having to live with one of us! In this episode, we've invited our wives onto the show to share their perspectives—not just on living with a slightly obsessive fan, but on how they've come to embrace the genre themselves. You'll hear how they became fans in their own right, and what kinds of films still give them the shivers. As you'll learn, being a horror fan has evolved into a shared experience—a communal passion that binds us together. While we might not all love the same titles, we all agree on one thing: this genre rules. We welcome Kat AuBuchon, Jenn Glonek, and Dawn Kitley as they join us to help Discover the Horror! This week on Exploit It, we're jetting off for Hard Ticket to Hawaii!
Though it's the Year of the Stitch-up, John Hammond has been building up a repertoire of picks for some time that would fit the bill! Previous picks include Samurai Cop, For Your Height Only, Hard Ticket to Hawaii, New York Ninja and Devil Fetus. So this week is totally on brand with the 1995 Japanese horror, Bloody Muscle Body Builder In Hell.Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell is a fascinating oddity in the realm of low-budget Japanese horror, with a production history almost as legendary as its over-the-top gore. Filmed in the mid-1990s by director Shinichi Fukazawa, who also starred as the film's musclebound protagonist, the movie was heavily inspired by Sam Raimi's Evil Dead. Fukazawa, an avid horror fan, took a DIY approach to filmmaking, handling multiple roles including directing, writing, editing, and even special effects. However, despite completing the initial shoot, the film languished in obscurity for years due to budgetary issues and technical limitations. It wasn't until nearly two decades later that Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell finally saw release, thanks to Fukazawa's painstaking efforts to edit and complete the film. The result is a gloriously campy, blood-drenched homage to splatter horror, packed with stop-motion effects, homemade prosthetics, and a relentless energy that belies its minuscule budget. Its long-delayed 2012 release—and later international cult status—proved that passion and dedication can sometimes trump production values, securing the film a place as Japan's answer to Evil Dead.If you enjoy the show we have a Patreon, so become a supporter.www.patreon.com/thevhsstrikesbackTrailer Guy Plot SummaryIn a world where the dead refuse to stay buried… one man must flex his way through a nightmare of blood, guts, and pure terror! After receiving a mysterious invitation, a bodybuilder and his ex-girlfriend venture into an abandoned house, unaware that an ancient, vengeful spirit lurks within its walls. Trapped inside, surrounded by grotesque horrors and relentless demonic forces, he'll have to use more than just his muscles to survive. Armed with raw strength, determination, and a whole lot of splattered gore, he must fight his way through the madness… or become just another victim in the house of hell! Seanbaby & Dennard welcome special guest, Mark Mahoney to review, "Hard Ticket to Hawaii"! Considered far and wide to be a movie, it is generally regarded and furthermore, exists! Those who love movies will absolutely acknowledge "Hard Ticket to Hawaii" as one! Hard Ticket to Hawaii: "You will believe a snake has cancer."
Picasso Trigger, the third installment of the L.E.T.H.A.L Cinematic Universe. This one crams even more pages of Playboy into the cast list. SEVEN former playmates. Sidaris has a formula. But as far as we can understand the plot: A homeless person's Ernst Stavro Blofeld vows vengeance on The Agency for having killed his brother in Hard Ticket to Hawaii. So, maybe it's more like Die Hard 3? After several of their colleagues are rubbed out, L.E.T.H.A.L (aka Girls with Guns), with the aid of gadgets from the Professor, a Bosley from Charlie's Angels knock-off named Long Dong and leading man Travis Abilene take down the crime lord behind it all, Miguel Ortiz. Also, the first operative to die actually faked his own death and was a bad guy. Picasso Trigger final grade: Steve Sidaris' movie-writing skills are trending in the right direction. This one is probably a *better* movie than either Hard TIcket or Malibu Express. The nod to James Bond with all the gadgets was fun. 2.79/5.0 Brandon The plot of this movie is ¯_(ツ)_/¯, again, nearly impossible to track. The boring bits of this one are exacerbated by the lack of...visual distractions...to draw your attention away from any monotony. Gotta give this one a similar score as the others, but the magic may be wearing off. 3.69/5 Cocktail of the Week: Ranch Water 1 1/2 oz Tequila Blanco 1 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice Sparkling water Build the drink the the glass. Pour ingredients over ice and stir to combine. Garnish with a lime wedge. Cocktail Grade: A fine tequila-based spin on the Gin Rickey, low-sugar, low calorie, all health. 4.5/5 ------------------ Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to: boozeandbmovies@gmail.com X: @boozeandbmovies Instagram: @boozeandbmovies Threads: @boozeandbmovies www.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/boozeandbmovies/support
The one kicks off with some gardening chat, complaints about the Amazon return process at Kohl's when a person in line in front of you has no honor and youth sports seasons starting up. As far as the movie goes, we check out Malibu Express, out of sequence in the L.E.A.T.H.A.L Cinematic Universe. Much like it's follow-up, Hard Ticket to Hawaii, which we reviewed in Ep 20, this one features more than its fair share of Early/Mid 80s Playboy Playmates, although the...exposure...they give and receive in this one outstrips Hard Ticket by quite a bit. A poor-man's mash-up of Bo Duke, Fletch and Fred from Scooby Doo "investigates" computer sales to Soviet Communists, but that plot of the movie never really happens. Then there's another part about a guy with gambling debts who blackmails high-society women with explicit photos and videos. Then there's like three other unconnected storylines. This movie is basically the fever dream of a teenage boy with a Playboy subscription from 1982-1984. The TL;DR version of the movie goes like this: Car, boobs, moustache, boobs, butt, car, gunfight, boobs, explosion, car chase, gunfight, boobs, helicopter, explosion, boobs, butt, The End. The last ten minutes of the movie is devoted to a couple monologues by the good guy and the bad guy that are intended to help you understand what happened. They didn't help. Malibu Express final grade: Steve Entertaining only for being so ripe with opportunity for mockery. Soooo many topless women that it actually detracted from the story. 2.69/5.0 Brandon Plot was...tough to follow?...non-existent? Andy Sidaris doesn't know how to write a movie, but he does know how to employ Playboy Playmates trying to kick off a film career. 3.80085/5, if you were a kid with a calculator in the 80s Cocktail of the Week: The Pineapple 2 oz Malibu Coconut Rum 4 oz Pineapple Juice Build the drink the the glass. Pour ingredients over ice and stir to combine. Cocktail Grade: A trip down memory lane to the old days in Columbus, OH. Delicious and nutritious. We did amp it up a bit by adding some 151 proof rum on a future round to turn it into the Caribou Lou (h/t Tech N9ne) 4.8/5 ------------------ Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to: boozeandbmovies@gmail.com X: @boozeandbmovies Instagram: @boozeandbmovies Threads: @boozeandbmovies www.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/boozeandbmovies/support

There may be tons of similar exploitation movies out there, but it's films like this that are so devoid of plot that make them so fun to watch with the bros. Episode 86 is a doozy, folks. This Saturday it's Hard Ticket to Hawaii, with Blonde Fatale Belgian Style Blonde Ale kindly provided by the good people of @peacetreebrewing. Director Andy Sidaris was a B-Movie kingpin from the mid 80s to late 90s, with a stock company of actors pulled from Playboy and Penthouse. He also liked guns and ridiculous deaths. We chose what many consider his finest work, Hard Ticket to Hawaii, a picture so relentlessly silly and confusing you can't help but love every minute. Blonde Fatale is a terrific pairing, both for its deliciousness, but also because of the two blonde leads, played by Playmates Dona Speir and Hope Marie Carlton. It's guns, babes, Hawaii and a snake infested with toxins from rats infected with cancer. Yep Thanks for listening! Check out our website SUBSCRIBE: to the show on Apple Podcast or Google Play. "Let's head along and hit the Jacuzzi. I do my best thinking in there." We watched "Hard Ticket to Hawaii" (1987) with the amazing Millie De Chirico from "I Saw What You Did" Podcast and we've got a tiny plane to catch! This movie may be part of the Bullets Bombs and Babes collection but it is High Camp and we are here for it. We talk about how the male leads are just as much eye candy as our female heroes but it's really Donna (Dona Speir) and Taryn's (Hope Marie Carlton) world, we're all just living in it. These two blonde vixens pilot airplanes, drive 4x4 Jeeps, and karate chop the bad guys all while wearing cutoff khaki shorts, scrunch boots and sporting flawless acrylic nails. Ron Moss (Rowdy) and Harold Diamond (Jade), while pretty much playing the sidekick "girlfriend" roles, are hunks in their own right and we see plenty of shots of the two of them bare chested and rocking Speedos along the sandy Molokai beaches. There's also a fierce female impersonator thrown in the mix as an evil henchman/woman. This movie may be smut, but it's progressive smut and we love it. Just don't ask us to describe the plot... The Spin Chagrin, a concept that finds Frank having to watch a movie he's never seen before based on the random spin of a wheel filled with off-the-wall genres, continues into a new year. In this episode, Frank's category was "Fast Cars and Big Boobs." To fulfill the category, Frank describes and discusses the first two movies of Andy Sidaris's Bullets, Bombs, and Babes series of B-films, Malibu Express and Hard Ticket to Hawaii, starring Player guitarist and veteran soap actor, Ron Moss.

This week Kyle and Matthew chat with Drew Coombs about movie soundtracks. We also warn of the danger of movie soundtracks on vinyl. In the last decade there has been a rise in amazing pressings of classic (and not so classic) movie soundtracks and Drew owns many of them. They compare soundtracks that are the score of the film versus soundtracks made up of pop songs and our relationships with both. We talk soundtracks that have influenced our lives and chat about our favorite film composers. A shockingly on topic episode. Weekly Rads: Kyle – Russian Doll Season 2 (show) (plus band name!)
