In celebration of Single Cask Nation's 15th anniversary, Joshua and Jason revisit a conversation they had with Anthony Wills, Owner and Managing Director of Kilchoman Distillery. When Single Cask Nation launched, the first three casks of whisky bottled were from Arran, BenRiach, and Kilchoman. We here at SCN HQ consider ourselves incredibly lucky to have been the only independent bottlers to have legally bottled a cask of Kilchoman independently. The boys discuss this and other things as a new introduction to this older episode, one of their favorite conversations to date. Joshua and Jason consider themselves incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to travel all over the world to interview some of the most interesting people within the whisky-making industry (and each guest is as interesting as the next). Few, however, are able answer things as candidly as the good Anthony Wills does in this episode. It's his distillery so he gets to do things and talk the way he likes. We like this. We are thankful for this. So, as usual, have a seat, have a pour, and listen in. Unless you're driving. If you're driving, be smart and stay sober but be sure to listen into the conversation! Special thanks to: - Weigh Down for allowing us to use their song "Wooden Monsters" as our theme song - RØDE for making *really* great microphones - Focusrite for making awesome USB receivers - Joshua Hatton for producing and editing

A look back at Starship’s 1985 No. 1 hit, the power ballad that dominated radio and pop culture during the height of the MTV era. The story revisits how the song became a chart‑topping phenomenon, defined a moment in ’80s music, and remains a lasting symbol of the decade’s glossy, emotional sound. TMZ reports that Spencer Pratt is considering filming a reality show inside a mayor’s office, a move that’s already raising eyebrows. The plan, still in early stages, highlights Pratt’s continued push to stay in the spotlight by blending politics, spectacle, and reality‑TV theatrics. On The Scent Podcast Season 7, Episode 36: Classic Scents Remixed & ReinventedChanel N°5 Eau de ToiletteHoused in a redesigned, minimalist (label-free) bottle inspired by the original 1924 silhouette, the classic scent profile is absolutely there (bubbly aldehydes, light florals) but with a modern, more casually dressed feeling. Lighter, more intimate, but with a grounding depth beyond the beloved soapy floralcy, Chanel describes it as: ‘A woody abstract floral fragrance that is powerful and textured – an invitation to discover N°5 in a new light.'Chanel N°5 L'EAU Eau de Toilette‘Less abstract than its forebears, the composition of N°5 L'EAU radiates citrus like sun-drenched honey. Top notes of lemon, mandarin and orange soar skyward with the aldehydes. Like a second wind, you can hear the rustle of flowers. Rose melds with airy jasmine and a new fraction of ylang-ylang, more modern than ever.Behind this floral whirlwind, vetiver and cedar impart a novel dynamism, softened by white musks notes. Never has Nº5 been so natural. So fresh.'Chanel N°5 EAU PREMIÈRE‘A floral, luminous and airy interpretation of N°5. The voluptuousness of Ylang-Ylang from the Comoros blends into the harmonious and delicate facets of May Rose and Jasmine. Aldehydes grant it a unique presence, and the smooth touch of Vanilla and musky notes create an incredibly feminine trail.'Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau de ParfumThe quintessential sun-kissed, tropical blend now offers a more intense hit of sunset in a scent, via creamy coconut, tiare flower, warm amber, and vanilla. They say: ‘More intense. More glow. The unmistakable magic of notes of tiare flower and coconut, paired with notes of amber, sandalwood and vanilla, made even richer.'AERIN Mediterranean Honeysuckle Soleil (Summer Edition)This limited-edition 2026 solar floral fragrance is inspired by sun-drenched Mediterranean beach holidays. It features notes of neroli, monoi flower, and coconut milk, offering a warmer, creamier, and more radiant twist on the original. Founder, Aerin Lauder, says: ‘Mediterranean Honeysuckle Soleil is a radiant twist on our signature fragrance. This limited-edition was inspired by memories of sun-drenched beach days I have spent on the Mediterranean with family and friends. The scent reminds me of warm sun-kissed skin after a day by the sea with its notes of monoi flower, neroli and coconut milk.'DS & Durga Debaser In BloomReimagining the original fig scent with a brighter, creamier profile this version features top notes of raspberry flower and white currant, a heart of white gardenia, a base of musk and the highly intriguing grape soda-like ‘cassette tape' accord. Fascinating and resolutely modern!Founder David Seth Moltz explains: ‘Debaser is a cult favorite D.S. & DURGA fume inspired by my preteen years hanging out with cool older kids. Music was the binding force of the group. I was introduced to many bands, but the Pixies reigned supreme. I remember getting Doolittle on cassette tape. Back then, tapes smelled distinctly of grapey-orange blossom due to a mysterious mixture of polyester, magnetics, and lubricants from which they were manufactured. You would go to your local record shop, get the latest tape, and skate home fast to listen. When you tore off the wrapping, that familiar aroma was like an unconscious precursor to new music.Playing with a perfume formula is like reworking a beloved song. New elements emerge, this version of Debaser renders beauty from the mundane. The nostalgic aroma of tapes amplified with choice fruit and flower notes. It wears easy and gives a perfect spring-to-summer vibration, not unlike the music that inspired it.'Petit Fracas"Play the game of love with Petit Fracas de Robert Piguet eau de parfum. The scent has an audacious air, inspired by our iconic Fracas. Petit is fresh, youthful and feminine, with a playful innocence. Flirtatious and charming, Petit Fracas opens with notes of fresh citrus and pear. At the heart of the scent is a foral with a vintage edge: tuberose and white flowers. Sophisticated, with a touch of whimsy, the base is underscored by the elegance of musk and sandalwood sprinkled with a touch of chocolate."Don't forget it's the brilliant Barnes Fragrance Fair coming up soon! On Saturday 16th May the fragrance lovers will be gathering far and wide (we know four On The Scent Podcast listeners flying in to attend from America this year!) to sniff their way through the best independent fragrance houses in the U.K. With more stalls than ever where you can meet the founders / perfumers, there's also a whole timetable of fascinating talks to attend…Why not grab the last tickets for ‘Scent, Style & Self-Expression: Exploring how men can show up with confidence' with an expert panel hosted by friend of the pod, Haydn Williams @yousmellgreatwhatisit. In this episode, Trina Greene welcomes Ivory Parnell-Chambeshi, as a guest co-host to kick-off the 2026 season of the podcast. In this heartfelt kitchen table convo seasoned with research data, they chat about the new-yet-old remixed stereotypes that are placed onto Black children to box them into troubled narratives about who they are and what they can become. They discuss the media messages that affect and influence Black youth, including two of the most visible: “Baddie” for girls and “YN” for boys. They also reflect on their own coming-of-age and how media influenced their evolution. To uplift Black parents as they take on the big task of parenting children, Trina and Ivory also offer tips for how they and other Black parents can help their children navigate these stereotypes to develop a positive sense of self and the agency to express themselves in fashion and beyond – in an informed, affirming and of course, liberated way.Listen in to hear edges snatched, ‘Big Momma' wisdom, and Black mama vibes!—------------------Ivory is an alumna of P4L's Black Parent Innovation Lab and Strong African American Families Program, and champion of P4L's broader work. Wendy’s U.S. president Pete Suerken jumped into the viral fast‑food “burger wars” by filming himself grilling and devouring a Baconator, taking big confident bites and praising it as “what a good hamburger should be.” His video playfully jabbed rivals — including a dig at McDonald’s famously broken ice‑cream machines — and followed viral clips of McDonald’s and Burger King executives awkwardly taste‑testing their own burgers. Wendy’s has launched a nationwide search for a “Chief Tasting Officer”, offering a $100,000 salary to a fan willing to taste menu items and create content — a marketing stunt arriving right as fast‑food “burger wars” heat up online between major chains. The playful job posting requires no formal qualifications beyond “a mouth, a pulse, opinions, and creativity,” and applicants must submit a short video before March 30 to be considered. A reminder that’s become a road-trip ritual for plenty of families is officially back on the road in New York. A Long Island grandfather will be allowed to keep his custom “PB4WEGO” license plate after the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles initially deemed it objectionable. Southern History Remixed: On Rock ‘n' Roll and the Dilemma of Race (UP Florida, 2024) spotlights the key role of popular music in the shaping of the United States South from the late nineteenth century to the era of rock 'n' roll in the 1940s, '50s, and '60s. While musical activities are often sidelined in historical narratives of the region, Michael Bertrand shows that they can reveal much about social history and culture change as he connects the rise of rock 'n' roll to the civil rights movement for racial equality. In this book, Bertrand traces a long-term culture war in which white southerners struggled over the region's cultural complexion with music serving as an engine that both sustained and challenged white supremacy. He shows how rock 'n' roll emerged as a working-class genre with biracial sources that stoked white racial anxieties and engaged the region's color and culture lines. This book discusses the conflict over southern identity that played out in responses to jazz, barn dance radio, Pentecostal and gospel music, Black radio programming, and rhythm and blues, concluding with a close look at the popularity of Elvis Presley within a racially segregated society. Southern History Remixed suggests that both Black and white southerners have used music as a tool to resist or negotiate a rigid regional hierarchy. Urging readers and scholars to take the study of popular music seriously, Bertrand argues that what occurs in the music world affects and reflects what happens in politics and history. Guest: Michael T. Bertrand is a historian of the American South and the modern United States. Host: Caroline Alt (she/her), a Ph.D. student in the Department of History at the University of Georgia. She studies the hauntings of the American South from the 19th through the 21st centuries. Learn more about your ad choices. The Wilderness E7 — By the time we get to the Prophets in the Hebrew Bible, the meaning of the wilderness is well established. It's a desolate, dangerous place where humans can't survive. And it's a place where God meets with his people to reform their character and deepen their trust in him. But Israel's prophets remix the meaning and imagery of the wilderness in surprising ways that prepare us for the story of Jesus. In this episode, Jon and Tim explore the wilderness in Hosea, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel, discovering unique portraits of a prison, romance, tragedy, and promise of a new heart.CHAPTERSRecap of the Theme and Setup for the Prophets (0:00-16:07)Hosea's Wilderness as Containment and Reformation (16:07-27:40)Jeremiah's Romance and Ezekiel's Tragedy in the Wilderness (27:40-49:58)OFFICIAL EPISODE TRANSCRIPTView this episode's official transcript.REFERENCED RESOURCESYou can view annotations for this episode—plus our entire library of videos, podcasts, articles, and classes—in the BibleProject app, available for Android and iOS.Check out Tim's extensive collection of recommended books here.SHOW MUSIC“Purple Clouds ft. It's a movie that reimagines one of the most iconic superheroes in history — not with grit and gloom, but with plastic bricks, rapid-fire jokes, and a whole lot of heart. Directed by Chris McKay and released in 2017, this animated spin-off features a voice cast that's nothing short of legendary: Will Arnett as the brooding and self-absorbed Batman / Bruce “Bruno” Wayne, Michael Cera as the wide-eyed Robin, Rosario Dawson as the fierce Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as the ever-wise Alfred, and Zach Galifianakis as the Joker who really just wants to be in some kind of a weird love/hate homo-erotic relationship with the Bat. It's a story about loneliness, ego, and the power of teamwork — all wrapped in a whirlwind of Bat-gadgets, pop culture references, and surprise villain cameos. So what movie are we talking about today? The Lego Batman Movie. What's the password? IRONMAN SUCKS For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. In 1982, director Steven Spielberg followed up Raiders of the Lost Ark with a family-centered feature about a young boy who meets an alien, based on his own childhood experience of creating an imaginary friend after his parents' divorce. With a budget of just over $10 million, Spielberg and screenwriter Melissa Mathison brought the alien to life with the help of Italian special effects master Carlo Rambaldi, with the music of John Williams hitting all the right notes. Add in some product placement from Reese's Pieces (let's not talk about that Atari video game) and a stellar young cast including Henry Thomas, Robert MacNaughton, and Drew Barrymore, and the flick was a hit. In fact, it surpassed Star Wars to become the highest-grossing film of all time, until Spielberg's own Jurassic Park broke the record in 1993. Much of the film feels iconic now, from William's score to the flying bikes. Critic Roger Ebert, in an essay he wrote in 2002 as a letter to his grandchildren about watching it with them, wrote of that moment: “I remember when I saw the movie at Cannes. Even the audience there, people who had seen thousands of movies, let out a whoop at that moment.” But despite the praise, it's worth remembering that Columbia Pictures put the film in turnaround, and M&Ms passed on the opportunity to feature their candy because they thought the film would scare children. So, over 40 years since its release, is E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial still worth phoning home about? Or is it better left in the back of the childhood closet? Director Ridley Scott returned to outer space with the 2013 Alien prequel Prometheus, set on a distant world, and two years later, when he adapted Andy Weir's best-selling 2011 novel, Scott visited another extraterrestrial destination, albeit one relatively closer to home: Mars. On the Red Planet, Matt Damon plays an astronaut stranded by fate who must survive in the harsh environment while his NASA colleagues come up with plans to rescue him. With an ensemble cast, including Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sean Bean, Michael Peña, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie, Mackenzie Davis, Donald Glover, and Benedict Wong, the film was an interplanetary success, premiering at Number One and going on to top the box office for multiple non-consecutive weekends. Just a month after its release, the film surpassed Gladiator to become Scott's highest-grossing film at the domestic box office. With Weir's novel Project Hail Mary set to get the big screen treatment next year, we're visiting The Martian for its tenth anniversary, and we promise to bring him home when we're done! It's autumn in New York, and we're feeling the love with another Nora Ephron rom-com. This week, we're dialing up the classic Tom Hanks-Meg Ryan tale of “boy meets girl in internet chat room, boy discovers girl's true identity, and then boy kills girl's business and destroys her livelihood.” Audiences loved the third team-up of Hanks & Ryan (following Joe Versus the Volcano and Sleepless in Seattle) in this flick that retells Miklós László's 1937 play Parfumerie, which had previously been adapted as The Shop Around the Corner in 1940 and In the Good Old Summertime in 1949. Updated for the early online era, this version features an ensemble including Greg Kinnear, Parker Posey, Steve Zahn, Dave Chappelle, and Jean Stapleton. Although the movie booked over $250 million at the box office, not all critics penned rave reviews. One reviewer called the film “almost unwatchably saccharine, representing pretty much everything wrong with today's big-budget, high-concept Hollywood filmmaking,” while others bemoaned its rampant product placement. Less than two years after its release, the corporate marriage was consummated when America Online, the originator of the film's titular salutation, and studio Warner Bros. merged to form AOL Time Warner. But will our hosts fall for this rom-com spam? Or will You've Got Mail be left on read? For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. We've almost run out of time for Aug-Heist: The Getaway, but not before we go on the run with one final film. This week, we're finally doing a proper prison break movie with a little-seen 2010 slow-burn thriller from director Paul Haggis, who won back-to-back Best Picture Oscars with Million Dollar Baby and Crash. Russell Crowe stars as a husband willing to go to any length to free his wrongly convicted wife from prison, even if that means breaking her out himself. Co-starring Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Wilde, Lennie James, Brian Dennehy, Liam Neeson, the film adapts the 2008 French release Anything for Her (Pour Elle) and was filmed on location in Pittsburgh. But with a dead-on 50% Tomatometer score, what final verdict will our hosts hand down? The summer of The Getaway is almost over, so we'd better enjoy The Next Three Days! This week on Aug-Heist: The Getaway, director Quentin Tarantino brings us his debut outing, Reservoir Dogs! As a video-store clerk turned first-time filmmaker, he directed, wrote, and appeared in this indie hit, which took Sundance by storm as part of the “Class of ‘92.” The film follows six suited, code-named strangers - including Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Steve Buscemi, Tim Roth, and Tarantino himself - brought together for a jewelry heist. While the film never shows the actual heist, the lead-up and aftermath are explored in bloody detail, as the Dogs turn on each other when the job goes south. Boasting all of his directorial hallmarks - graphic violence, extended dialogue featuring profanity and references to popular culture, and epic needledrops (here in the form of K-Billy's Super Sounds of the Seventies) - the film immediately established Tarantino as a made man in Hollywood and was later named the greatest independent film of all time by Empire Magazine. But do our hosts feel compelled to tip their server, er, uh, director, or are we listening to the world's smallest violin… in a pitch that only Reservoir Dogs can hear? This week on Aug-Heist: The Getaway, fact meets fiction with the “based on a true story about a fake movie” Argo! Set during the Iranian hostage crisis, this ensemble escape thriller stormed the box office and awards season, raking in over $230 million and winning Oscars for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film Editing. Director Ben Affleck was notably snubbed and not nominated by the Academy, but he also stars as CIA exfiltration expert Tony Mendez, along with a “most wanted” list of prestige movie actors, including Alan Arkin, Kyle Chandler, Bryan Cranston, Tate Donovan, Victor Garber, John Goodman, Scoot McNairy, and Chris Messina. This is Aug-Heist: The Getaway! This week, we're running away with Fantastic Mr. Fox, a 2009 animated film directed by Wes Anderson. The quote-unquote “Fantastic Mr. Fox” - voiced by George Clooney - and his colorful cast of animal accomplices - including the voices of Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, and Bill Murray - must escape from one perilous predicament after another when faced with the wrath of three local farmers. Anderson and co-writer Noah Baumbach adapted the beloved children's book by Roald Dahl, expanded on its plot, and created a vibrant world in stop-motion. The result was a hit, with the flick feasting on its fill at the box office and awards shows. But will it get off scot free with our fantastic foursome of fearsome hosts? Or will this fox tale wind up decorating our mantle? For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. Please subscribe and give us a positive review.
