Do you believe that Jim Morrison is dead? While most would adhere to the story of Morrison's passing, director Jeff Finn isn't convinced... and he seems to thin that he's found him. In BEFORE THE END: SEARCHING FOR JIM MORRISON, Finn takes the viewer into the life of the famed Doors frontman, speaking to friends and family who can shed light on his life. But there's also the enigma of Frank X, a man who seems to know a little too much about Morrison's world to be a coincidence. In this 1on1, we speak to Finn about the mystery of Frank X and the 'normal' life of Jim Morrison.
Greetings from Thailand! Z-Machine's exciting independent 3-part docuseries, “Before the End: Searching for Jim Morrison. ” The first of its kind documystery series clocks in at a total of 3.5-hours (each episode is just over an hour in length) and will make its global TVOD/Digital release on January 13, 2025, following Morrison's 81st birthday, available on all the major platforms of Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, and YouTube TV. A dozen years in the making, Before the End's cryptic tagline encapsulates its investigative approach: “One Man. Countless Myths. And in between lies the truth.” Z-Machine founder, Jeff Finn's extraordinary detail work breaks the decades-long hermetic seal on the traumatic formative years that forged a brief hellacious life, through Morrison's controversial career as lead singer of the legendary 1960s rock band, The Doors, to his reported 1971 death by “heart failure” in Paris at age 27. Morrison's ostensible demise, technically an unsolved cold case, formed its own rabbit hole of reasonable doubt, which inspired Finn to consult with private investigators and forensic analysts. Before the End transcends “rock doc” in the same sense that Jim Morrison was more than a rock star. Featuring unprecedented content, from shocking corroboration about Morrison's early life to harrowing revelations about his stardom, and fresh evidence that contradicts his professed death, Before the End: Searching for Jim Morrison is proudly unauthorized because it “seeks the unvarnished truth.” The documystery reverse-engineers long-controlled narratives while it explores the notion of Morrison the nonconformist as neurodivergent, and deconstructs - through on-camera interviews with family, friends, lovers, classmates, and associates – key distinctions between Jim Morrison, “rock god,” and James Douglas Morrison, an introverted outsider. Takeaways – A podcast about learning from the wisdom of others
I am blessed to be around remarkable people. There are always Takeaways to learn. That is what I am sharing on this podcast. Takeaways – Life. Lessons. Learned. explores learning from the wisdom of others. Jeff Finn is the CEO of RealNex, a commercial real estate software company that has created a new category. Instead of just one solution, like a listing site or client relationship manager, RealNex offers a comprehensive suite of integrated solutions for the commercial real estate industry. Its the only one of its kind! That’s what Jeff does. He takes an idea and creates a new category. Like in the 1980's when he took the concept of the “commercial real estate network” and envisioned it as new category; the “managed commercial real estate network”. It was the only one of its kind. Then, seemingly out of nowhere was NAI Global, a network of commercial real estate firms comprising of 5,000 professionals and 350 offices in the US and 55 countries that is also recognized as a top 5 real estate brand in the world! Jeff sold NAI in 2012. What can you learn from a person like Jeff? Here are just a few of the Takeaways that we discussed on this episode. • What happens when you marry vision with persistence? • How are pioneers able to change the rules? • What is the best way to herd cats? Perhaps the biggest Takeaway for me appeared at about 36:00 when Jeff describes how long it took for NAI to become viable. He shared the cliché, “it never seems fast enough”. Except as he told the story back even Jeff seemed to be surprised about how quickly things actually happened. Another cliché comes to mind. “It really is about the journey not the destination”. I hope you enjoy! You can find Takeaways at any of the links below: • APPLE PODCAST • STITCHER • GOOGLE PODCAST • SOUNDCLOUD Thank you for listening! "Data classification" is helpful for analyzing information in IoT environments to support business intelligence applications, but it's also an elegant way of monitoring the behavior of devices to determine whether they are being used as part of a potential cyber attack. In this week's Embedded Insiders podcast, Rich Nass and Brandon Lewis welcome Jeff Finn, CEO of data categorization and security firm Zvelo. After some banter, Jeff describes how monitoring traffic coming from embedded, IoT, and network infrastructure devices with a snippet of source code can help security professionals categorize these systems based on their expected behavior, and issue cloud-based alerts when parameters are broken. The three also give thoughts on recent legislation from the U.S. Senate that attempts to standardize security in the Internet of Things.
