STUDY: ICE CREAM IS BETTER FOR YOU THAN A MULTIGRAIN BAGELA new study from Tufts University in Massachusetts suggests that ice cream is a healthier choice than a multigrain bagel and other foods like saltine crackers. In the research, experts at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts developed a "Food Compass" to rank any type of food from 1 to 100 based on nutrition; the higher the number, the healthier the food. When comparing foods, the study gave an ice cream cone with nuts and chocolate ice cream a 37, while a multigrain bagel with raisins received a 19 and saltine crackers a 7. This is a pretty shocking study. Are the researchers right? Are multigrain bagels worse for you than an ice cream cone with nuts and chocolate?Healthy living expert who's become a national thought leader on prevention and finding the root cause of health issues DR. Many of us think a decrease in cognitive ability is part of the natural aging process—the so-called "senior moments" that happen more frequently as we get older. Forgetting to do something or having small details slip your mind might not seem like a serious issue, but these brain blips may be a sign of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), which can lead to dementia down the line. According to the Mayo Clinic, things like avoiding excessive alcohol use, limiting exposure to air pollution, exercising regularly, and getting good sleep at night can help keep our brains healthy—but a recent study found that a common medication could be thwarting those efforts. Women who took certain prescription pharmaceuticals were more likely to have decreased cognitive ability over time. A study published in PLOS ONE last month found that women who frequently took antibiotics during midlife showed faster rates of cognitive decline than those who did not. Healthy living expert Dr. Joey Speers discusses how common medications could be hurting your brain.

Is there a ‘right’ age to begin living your dream? What do you do when it seems like there’s a wall holding you back? And what do you do if you don’t ‘fit into the system'? Joey Speers, a 20 year old entrepreneur who has been using his passion, joy, and unrelenting talent behind a camera to launch a successful media company over the past 7 years. That’s right, he started this business when he was 14, and he’s not slowing down. What I love is that although Joey’s stories and experiences seem untouchable on the surface, traveling the world photographing for unique brands, and networking with some of the biggest influencers out there…when he opens up about his journey we realize it’s such a relatable story he’s telling. One of discovery, struggle with the system, connecting with empowering people, and taking risks to move into the dream. In our conversation today, Joey of course takes us through his exciting journey of discovering what he’s made for and the difficulties of working as a creative, and he also helps us figure out where to begin if we’re thinking of going down a similar path. If you need that one swift kick in the butt to get going, or if you need someone to give you more energy than your coffee this morning, or you need to be reminded of the potential you have and how valuable it is even if you don’t fit where you are…Joey is going to be a great friend for you to meet.
