The past few years have been a rollercoaster of hard lessons learned, creativity, and pivots. In this episode, we're peeling back the curtain with Krissy Mast, sharing her struggles with creative burnout after building a 7-figure design business and how she redefined success by deciding to close the doors and start fresh. From the projects that lit her up to the ones that drained her, Krissy gets REAL about what it means to build a sustainable creative business (again). We'll also talk about the importance of setting boundaries, why saying “no” can be a superpower, and how we're rethinking how we approach client work vs. personal passion projects. Plus, we dive deep into art licensing, how it works, why it can be a game-changer for artists, and what we've learned from our experiences. If you've ever wondered how to monetize your art beyond commissions and client work, this conversation is for you.All that and more when you listen to this episode:What led to creative burnout and how Krissy managed itHow setting boundaries helped reclaim our creativityThe myth of constant hustle–and why we're challenging it Balancing client work with personal projects What you need to know about art licensing and passive income opportunities for artistsHow we approach licensing deals and what to watch out forWorking with art agents and why it might be right for youHow outreach can build confidence and lead to more clients for your art business Mentioned in this episode:Stacie Bloomfield Liz Kohler BrownJewel (art agent)Art Licensing BlueprintSkillshareConnect with our guest: Krissy Mast on Instagram | Website | Facebook GroupConnect with Katie & Ilana from Goodtype Goodtype Website Goodtype on Instagram Goodtype on Youtube Love The Typecast and free stuff? Ex-actress turned Filmmaker and Creative Business Coach, Izzy Stevens, is no stranger to rejection. In fact, when she moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting she was rejected hundreds of times. But it's not all doom and gloom - these invaluable experiences (although painful at the time) were the very thing that led Izzy to find success in the world of filmmaking and teaching other creative business owners how to do the same. In today's ep, Izzy and I discuss - What being rejected in Hollywood taught her about running a successful businessHow to know if you're experiencing resistance that needs healing or listening toWhen it's the right time to pivot & how to do it successfully (and profitably!) Power To Speak with Confidence. Conversations that will inspire and empower.
In March of last year I started an in person speaker club, the Speak Like a Speaker Club. I wanted to create a supportive space where the introverted and unsure could exercise their speaking muscles and put in the speaking reps! A gym for the mouth and mind, so to speak. After all, you speak wherever you speak – networking, boardroom, water cooler or dinner table. As well as getting speaking practise and feedback, club members play 'get out of your comfort zone' exercises (scary for most!) which give the brain a thorough workout and aid concentration, coordination, and focus. For this previously live episode of Speaking About Speaking I invited along Copywriter, Westrow Cooper, Marketing Consultant, Mark Masters and Creative Business Coach, Christophe Stourton, all SLAS Club members to talk to you about their experience of stepping outside their comfort zones, the process of practice and feedback, and how it's helped their speaking confidence and their business. Thankfully they have all felt the benefit of practice, feedback, and support. Our conversation highlights the need to push yourself to the edge of your comfort zone, to lean into the fear and to challenge yourself. Find out more about Westrow here: https://westrowcooper.com Find out more about Mark here: https://www.youarethemedia.co.uk Find out more about Christophe her: https://www.deadlinology.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm Jackie Goddard, a speaker (and acting) coach, speaker, content writer and creator. I can get you performance ready and excited about speaking to your audience. So, if you want to talk more in '24 get in touch.

Radical healing should be a non-negotiable for every woman, especially women of color. –Simona Sillah Curious about crystals? I'm really excited to talk with Simona Sillah about using crystals and other energy and mindset modalities for radical healing. Body, mind, and spirit work together, so we look at the energy around all of that. Simona shares her story of a health crisis that went ignored by traditional healthcare. She advocated to learn more. She finally got treatment that was making her sicker. That's when she sought out more holistic healing practices. What does it mean to surrender? How do you practice radical acceptance? It can be hard, especially when you want to be in control, so we talk about what that actually looks like day to day. But when the mind, body, or spirit is out of whack, the rest aren't working right either. Simona lists healthy thoughts, choosing what she consumed, and healing crystals as three pieces of her healing. We talk about: Recognizing our weaknesses and working on them Learning to be kind to ourselves, including finding the grain of truth in what people say about you without shaming yourself or putting too much attention on what they say Paying attention and giving yourself what you need, whether it is rest, a certain food, kindness Lessons that we learn and need to learn again and again Choosing crystals and using them to harness higher intentions Specific ways to use crystals, or what using crystals actually looks like day to day BIO Simona Folasade Sillah is a changemaker for underrepresented communities, working as a Community and Content Manager for SoGal Foundation by day and running her online metaphysical boutique ENHERGY for her side hustle. She offers over seven years of marketing and communications experience, with an extensive background in business development, public relations, entrepreneurship, and small business coaching. Money is the #1 reason women stay in unfulfilling jobs. “I gotta pay my bills” is an universal mantra for the overworked, undervalued and most of the time under paid career woman. I've learned the hard way that getting paid, staying paid and increasing pay are all three totally distinct skill sets that require different ways of thinking and strategy. Whether you as an employee or entrepreneur getting your money right will always be in season. Pricing a product or services and hiring help is one of the most challenging parts of starting a business along with negotiating a salary and setting boundaries as an employee. Money continues to be sensitive topic for women and my guest life's work is to change that! Especially for women of color. Synopsis of the Episode My hope is when it's all said and done that there is a collective consensus that agrees that moving forward from the difficult couple of years, that we all experience involves zero tolerance from anything from belief systems to the system at large, that disturbs our peace and takes away from the preciousness of living life fully. I know in the pass it was normal to separate our lives but I see the shift happening now of us shifting to interconnecting our whole being from the way we work, create, play, serve and rest. No longer separate entities where one part suffers so another part can thrive…giving up one for the other! My hope is we continues to change for our betterment and so much so that when history looks back on this time, all that we have endured and survived will not have been all in vain! The fact that she grew up eating what's known as the Standard America Diet (aka, “SAD”) led her to have blood sugar issues. She understands, first-hand, the struggles with sugar. As she began her nutritional work with clients, she noticed that many were in the same boat. She started a small group in which everyone went through a sugar detox together, guided by each other's support and her expertise. It was an instant success and thus The RESTART® Program was born. Since then, RESTART® has evolved into the proven program that it is today for the many people who want to feel better and receive accurate information about food, nutrition, and their own health. Jeni is the proud recipient of two awards for the creation of The RESTART® program, and for the impact it has had, and continues to have, on the Instructors of this program, as well as the countless participants who have gone through it. In 2016, Jeni received the Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Nutritional Therapy Association (NTA) In 2019, Jeni received the Impact award from the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP) You can find more about her and her work: https://therestartprogram.com/

The Creative Business Coach - Authentic and Joyful Marketing
We are all creative. And so many of us have brilliant ideas and are passionate about what they do. I love seeing new projects emerge, small businesses pop up, and individuals becoming empowered in running their own shows. In a world where we are ruled by Amazon and Nestle, I want to add fuel to the little individuals with big ideas. Those budding entrepreneurs who are still on the fence, need that extra push, get rid of the imposter syndrome, and jump into their next adventure. An adventure that I know they will never regret.

A pivot can be a powerful thing. Tina Essmaker started as a social worker with a side project, a Kickstarted magazine she founded with her husband. But when her marriage ended, she had to re-evaluate: stay with the magazine, or start something new? She decided to tap into her skills as a social worker and her connection to the creative community to re-launch as a creative coach. In this week's episode, Damona talks with Essmaker about how she transitioned from publishing into a self-created role where she helps creative workers identify and stick with their goals.Essmaker offers concrete tips for people considering a shift from one path to another, and encourages listeners to consider the "emotional balance sheet" of their lives. (And Damona gets a gold star for her ability to describe her work concisely - would you get the same?) "It’s just a continual act of faith, that knowing what I’m doing is valuable and it’s needed, and then trusting that clients will come to me," says Essman, who now works as a coach, a speaker, and a writer.ResourcesTo learn more about Tina and her services go to:https://tinaessmaker.comWord of Mouth Marketing- Articlehttps://www.bigcommerce.com/blog/word-of-mouth-marketing/Nielsen Reporthttps://www.nielsen.com/us/en/insights/article/2012/consumer-trust-in-online-social-and-mobile-advertising-grows/If you like our show, please let us know by rating and reviewing it on whatever platform you listen to it. 5* reviews help us grow our audience and reach! To learn more about FreshBooks and receive an exclusive offer go towww.freshbooks.com/imal
