In this episode, Ed Frawley shares a comment from a viewer about dogs who only seem to fight when the handler is present. Ed addresses this concern and what he would do about it. Alliance Aggression is a term some people use to describe when a dog becomes aggressive around and defensive of its handler. We treat this as resource guarding of the handler. Keep in mind that some dogs will never be dog-friendly and are often best served in a single-animal household. If you have a dog like this in a multi-animal household, you may need to strictly manage that dog and the other animals to keep everyone safe and happy. | Links mentioned: How We Manage Dogs In Our Home: https://university.leerburg.com/Catalog/viewCourse/cid/14 | Dominant Dog Collar: https://leerburg.com/746.htm | Short Leashes: https://leerburg.com/shortleash.htm | Muzzles: https://leerburg.com/muzzle.htm | Free Online Course with Purchase of Any Muzzle from Leerburg.com - Conditioning Your Dog to Wear a Muzzle: https://university.leerburg.com/Catalog/viewCourse/cid/150 | Dealing with Dominant and Aggressive Dogs: https://university.leerburg.com/Catalog/viewCourse/cid/137

In this episode, Ed Frawley shares a new product available at Leerburg.com. This training vest was designed by Ed Frawley. After training dogs for over 60 years in Wisconsin's cold fall and winter climate, Ed knows what a dog trainer needs to stay warm and still have access to the tools needed to train dogs. He designed an insulated vest that has a zip-off insulated hood. The vest comes with seven pockets, 4 of them have zippers. Ed preferred zippers and not Velcro. Two of those front zipper pockets are deep enough to securely hold his iPhone 16 Pro Max and car keys.| Links mentioned: Leerburg Cold Weather Insulated Dog Training Vest with Zip-Off Hood - https://leerburg.com/softshell-handler-vest.php

In this video, Ed Frawley sits down with Travis Olson from Keeper Collars® to discuss the quality product that is Keeper Collars. They dive into the mission of Keeper Collars, how to measure your dog for a Keeper Collar, and which keeper collar is best for you based on the various options available. The Keeper Collars® Hidden Prong Collar is not simply a cover for a prong collar. The prong is built directly into the collar, allowing for unmatched functionality and camouflaging of the prong. These collars are designed to easily be put on and taken off. Gone are the days of struggling to pinch the prongs together. For those people who do not have a ton of dexterity in their fingers, this is going to be a huge benefit. Because you are no longer pinching the prongs to put the collar on and take off, you do not have to worry about them eventually wearing out and becoming loose. This also eliminates the worry of your prong coming apart when you need it most. With that, you no longer need to use a backup collar. Leerburg has always recommended using a backup collar with a prong. Simply because if and when the prong fails it will fail when you need it most and maintaining control over your dog in those instances is crucial. With the Keeper Collar, there is no way for the prongs to come apart. Even if they did, the leather flat strap doubles as your back up collar. | Links mentioned: Keeper Collars: https://leerburg.com/keepercollars.php
Important Leerburg strongly recommends using a backup collar any time you use a prong collar. Prong collars can come apart (especially if not fit properly). With a backup collar, you can ensure that your dog will remain leashed. We recommend using a Dominant Dog Collar as a backup. Paired alongside with the Prong Collar Leash, your backup leash won't interfere with prong collar corrections. A retractable leash should not be used with prong collars. For more information on proper prong collar use, view our article on Should I Use a Prong Collar on My Dog?

When we ask our dog for a hand-touch we expect the dog to touch their nose to the palm of our hand. The hand-touch becomes a fun game that our dogs love to play at home and on walks. In fact, with many dogs, the hand-touch itself becomes a reward. Once our dog becomes fluent with the hand-touch we can use it to redirect the dog away from unwanted distractions like other dogs, people, or things that make them nervous or reactive. Leerburg's One Odor Scent Kit This new scent kit was designed by Ed Frawley and manufactured by Leerburg. Patent Pending. All of the civilian style nose work dog sports use 4 or 5 odors. Ed specifically designed this one odor kit for several reasons: -Law enforcement searching for pedophile hard drives and thumb drive -Civilian trainers who start their training with only one odor -Civilian trainers who want to keep their 4 or 5 odors in separate scent kits Sport dog trainers can also use these kits with the goal of keeping their training aids/odors separate. Some training protocols recommend starting detection dogs on one odor. When the dog has reached fluency on that first odor the dog can then be introduced to second, third, or fourth odor. We also offer a new five scent kit of this same design. This new kit has two newly designed odor boxes. Scent items are placed in these odor boxes. These boxes have a sliding top with air vents and a magnet compartment. The magnet compartment (located on the bottom of the box) is designed so our earth magnets can be slid in and held in place by friction. Links The Foundation of Sport Detection
