Brick Lombardi cracks open the vault. Four tracks. Four moods. One very bad night for a Bears fan in Naperville, Illinois. The episode opens on the dance floor with GO PACK GO — an electro-pop, crunk-influenced banger built for the club and dedicated to the women who bleed green and gold. Standards are green and gold. If you don't know that, Brick does. From there, the energy shifts hard into PRESSURE — a cinematic, Queen-interpolated meditation on pass protection collapse and the particular dread of watching Jordan Love disappear into a rush. Heavy. Restrained. Honest. SUPERSTITIOUS brings the groove — a Stevie Wonder-influenced funk anthem for every Packer fan who's never spoken their ritual out loud. Same chair. Same hoodie. Same socks. The commentator jinx as a theological crisis. You know the system. You never talk about the system. Brick talks about the system. The episode closes with LET 'EM CRY — a Southern rock ballad. Organ, acoustic guitar, and a Bears fan alone at a bar in Naperville. Fourth and one. Caleb threw it low. Keisean Nixon took it from there. The song sounds like sympathy. It is not sympathy. Nick starts the show by reminding everyone about the event happening this Sunday at the Museum of Broadcast Communications. It's Oscar Day with Nick Digilio, hosted by Rick Kogan, with Oscar talk, a book signing, and plenty more. If you want to go, tickets are up now at museum.tv. Film critic Steve Prokopy joins Nick next while Erik Childress is off traveling to the SXSW Film & TV Festival. Nick and Steve dig into a batch of new releases including Project Hail Mary starring Ryan Gosling, the horror film “Undertone,” the documentary “Andre Is an Idiot,” and the romantic drama “Reminders of Him.” There are a few surprises, a few disappointments, and plenty to argue about. Esmeralda Leon jumps in later and the conversation turns to Friday the 13th. There are three of them in 2026, which feels like a lot. That leads to a chat about bad luck, superstitions, and a ridiculous quiz Nick gives Esma about folklore and strange beliefs from around the world. It goes about as well as you'd expect. [Ep 437]

Black cats, knocking on wood and crossing your fingers are common superstitions. Today is Friday the 13th and we take a deep dive into these beliefs. Steve Joordens, Professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto Scarborough, joins the show to share a bit of history behind this lore and why so many humans are superstitious.
This week, we kick off with a bit of Fire Horse chat with a side of wtichy wog curse energy, which Mel's mad for, but Monty isn't buying in to. We chat about the a Sydney guy's attempt to bring back the rave with a MAJOR twist on the ones we grew up with in the 90s. Speaking of, one half of an Aussie couple who was rarely seen without her leotard back in the day triggered a memory for aerobics queen Monts, and something revolting happened to Mel when she was jazzing up her jewellery. Are practices like the blessing of throats or cars just superstition, or do they have a deeper meaning in the Catholic faith? In this episode of Catholic Answers Live, Jimmy Akin addresses this question before tackling several others about Scripture and theology. He explains how to understand God's role in events like the plagues of Egypt, whether the Garden of Eden can be seen as the first tabernacle, and when Satan's fall occurred in relation to Adam and Eve. The episode also explores the apparent tension between faith and works in the Bible and offers guidance on how to approach questions about the “extra” books in the Catholic canon, including resources for understanding their historical and theological basis. A thoughtful discussion on Scripture, tradition, and Catholic practice. Questions Covered: 01:02 – Opener: Is the blessing of throats and blessing of cars superstitious? 11:25 – How did God allow the plague in Egypt to happen? 17:22 – Was the Garden of Eden the first tabernacle? 20:02 – Did Satan fall before Adam and Eve? 29:23 – It seems like there is a contradiction in the Bible between Faith, and Faith + works. What resources can you offer about the 7 extra books in the bible? Something not from the Vatican to not be biased in favor of Catholics.

It's a Playoff Football Friday and we are playoff ready! The Superstitions are alive and well and Ashley has quite the conundrum… #ObliqueWatch is on and it's got every Seahawks fan on edge after Sam Darnold tweaked his oblique in practice yesterday. Jesus specifically tells his followers not to babble in prayer. Many people believe that repetitive prayers like the Rosary might fall into this category. Worse, even those who love the Rosary can sometimes fall into mindless repetition. This is not good. Join me in the next episode of Catholic Life Coach For Men as I explore why and how to properly pray repetitive prayer. What are the dangers, what is Our Lord warning against? How do we understand those dangers and react well when we pray our many Catholic repetitive prayers? How can you as a man lead your household well in these prayers? Also if you struggle with it, consider my course on Anger. It's a collection of powerful ideas and exercises that will help you regain control of your temper - and protect those you love! This was a light hearted sample of something I am going to dive deeper on in the future. Enjoy the "gentlemens chat"!
