CAPE TOWN SPURS THE RETURN Morne Nel scored the lone goal seven minutes after Spurs were brought down to 10-men when Ashley Cupido was shown a dubious red card by referee Michael Mosemeng. The win solidifies Spurs' first-place position on the PSL Promotion/Relegation Playoffs log standings. The Mother City outfit have now played three playoff matches, winning each fixture with a 1-0 scoreline, putting Shaun Bartlett's side on 9 points ahead of Maritzburg (3 points) and Casric (0 points). The defeat for Casric ends their quest for promotion to the DStv Premiership as they now have one fixture against Maritzburg remaining on Saturday. A draw or loss for Maritzburg will see Spurs secure their promotion to South Africa's top flight. Fadlu Davids's Team of Choice will have to beat Casric to ensure their fight for promotion can go to the final match against Spurs next Wednesday at the Harry Gwala Stadium. Maritzburg will have to win all their remaining matches against Casric and Spurs to keep alive their hopes of advancing to the Premiership on goal difference ahead of Bartlett & charges.

The Nedbank Cup is very quickly heading to the business end with the round of 16 draw having been completed. The round of 32 brought with it some surprises, none more notable than Dondol Stars FC overcoming SuperSport United 2-1. Kaizer Chiefs fought hard against a 10-man Maritzburg, winning 2-0 and Mamelodi Sundowns managed to scrape a victory over second-placed PSL team Richards Bay FC. The round of 16 features some mouth-watering fixtures, with many Motsepe league teams progressing. The Nedbank Cup has proved in the past, to have opened doors for these 'non-PSL' teams with the results to prove it. Many of the current PSL stars began their careers in the lower leagues and are now featuring on the continental stage for a PSL club. On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Mzansi has reacted to the Nedbank Cup round of 32 fixtures. Mzansi speaks on the most surprising results and predict the outcome of the competition! Host Carl Lewis is joined by Laduma Analytics to preview this weekend's action in the DSTV Premiership with a focus on the four biggest games involving Sundownsm Pirates, Chiefs and more. Supersport v Sundowns Supersport last victory here was Sep 2019 Hunt's team are confusing - good in the league (despite league pos) Leaky v Sundowns (2.7xgA); 600+ passes v 200odd for them Same style - just 10 box entries (8 v Pirates) Chiefs v AmaZulu Chiefs have lost the games they were supposed to & won where supposed to Over 1xG every game, but conceding too many chances Should have scored v CT City Entered the box 17 times (most this season) AmaZulu have been very lucky TS Galaxy v CT City Galaxy has consecutive clean sheets, but will be tested against City Could concede v City that takes the most shots & enters box most Maritzburg v Pirates Maritzburg surprisingly high on xP table Pirates in the Cup was best xG game, but 2nd worst xGA More attacking = more openness If they go back to league style, it will be low-scoring game
Host Carl Lewis is back with the team of Laduma Analytics and we discuss the XG data which tells which teams have been playing well and which not. Expected Goals & Goal Difference Is Gavin Hunt a critic of data & data-driven performance analysis? Or are journalists driving a narrative? His recent quotes (as always) were interesting "I thought we had the best chances, I mean really two good chances which I thought we should have scored. It's fairly disappointing but that has been the story of us" Well data back up his claims Supersport have experienced the worst of luck in front of goal (offensively and defensively). Their goal difference is currently minus two, when +5 is what they should have had [8xG -3xG] City has not had the rub of the green. Defence is par (7xGA and 8 conceded) Their front line has underperformed by 4 goals - 10xG yielding just 6 goals Sundowns have an xGD of +2, but an Actual GD of +8. This is because they conceded a high quality of chances and should have conceded 5 goals by now. Chippa & AmaZulu are main concerns, Richards Bay & TS Galaxy also in danger It's a miracle TS Galaxy haven't conceded, with 6xG conceded (effectively Buthelezi has saved the team 6 goals) Expected Points Table [10 mins] Based on xP City, Pirates, Maritzburg & Sundowns should be our top 4 Based on xP AmaZulu, Chippa, HGalaxy, Richards Bay should be Bottom 4 Going forward, we expect the league table to shake up again and be rearranged. 5 teams have topped table this season (last time there were more was 17/18). All things remaining the same, Maritzburg, Supersport and City should climb ⏫ AmaZulu and Richards Bay will go in the opposite direction.⏬

That's right, today I sit down with the man, the myth, the legend, Fuego Heat. If you're a Durban musician, you no doubt know Fuego Heat aka Ryan van Rooyen aka Right Hand Ryan (for those who have been around for a while). He's either been front row at your show, sold you a record or sold your record for you, or he's put you on stage so you can let your talent shine. He's a man who has been an integral part of the Durban music scene for a while now, but it's the work he's been putting in in the last 2 years or so that's really had a noticeably positive impact on the industry. We go all the way back to his early days of driving down to Durban from Maritzburg for Burn's Punk nights, to taking over a distro, to becoming a wedding DJ, to working at Khaya Records, and now to his latest and most important venture to date- starting an events, artist management, and booking agency with Meshack Newman called Roots Up. There's a lot to take away from this one, enjoy. https://almostperfect.co.za/ep-4-ryan-van-rooyen/
