What I've figured out is that preparation is key to success in a chosen endeavor. When you really break it down we are always preparing for the next thing. In pursuit of new opportunities in my life I have found that one day at a time will always be enough. I wanted to share some more thoughts on this to help you with focusing on moving forward just a little bit each day. Hope this was helpful. :) Resources Mentioned:MasteryHive (The Speaking Mastermind I'm in Right Now) - https://offers.mariannehickman.com/weekly-mastery-hive-call?am_id=dallin2255 (This is an Affiliate Link) Interview with Paul Granger - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/trusting-the-infinite-love-peace-and-wisdom-of-god/id1478505549?i=1000639772892 My Appearance on Paul's Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/connecting-with-the-creator/id1438136557?i=1000666954963 Avoiding All-Nighter's Forever Episode - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/why-do-all-nighters-happen-and-how-do-we-end-them-3-tips-201/id1478505549?i=1000559432465 More From Me:Subscribe to YIELD Deeply - https://dallincandland.substack.com/Check out my second book, "Patience in These Pages" - https://a.co/d/4kfFqW8Watch the Dallin Candland YouTube channel (for more on the podcast, behind the scenes videos, and more!): https://www.youtube.com/@dallincandlandTo check out YIELD Today Premium: https://www.buzzsprout.com/543310/subscribeTime Stamps:6:20 - I Did a 9-5 Yesterday of Going to Church8:23 - Just Get Something on the Board Each Day9:41 - The Need for Continuously Nurturing Things10:28 - The Power of Quantifying ThingsQuotes:Support the show

In this episode I am on location in Tampa, FL in my hotel room make shift studio. I traveled down to Tampa to be on the Koncrete podcast last summer. While I was there I got hooked up with Matt Cox and had him come by my room to do a show. * Mathew (Matt) Cox is a former fraudster in the real estate mortgage game. It is estimated that Matt stole upwards of 25 million according to Wikipedia. Matt has been out for a year or two and has published quite a few books, is a talented pop artist, podcaster, and very entertaining guest. * Matt's Words: My name is Matthew B. Cox and I'm a con man. I recently completed a lengthy prison sentence for a variety of bank fraud related charges, and I'm 100 percent guilty of them all. I was incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Complex in Coleman, Florida. It's not a bad place, as prisons go. Some inmates do their time in the recreation yard—walking the track and doing pushups. Others learn to play an instrument. I spent my time in the institution's library, writing my fellow inmates' stories—sometimes it was a memoir, other times it was a true crime—as a result, I heard an outrageous amount of stories. Some intrigued me and some didn't. I tend to focus on the more unique, clever, bizarre true crime stories. * A number of my subjects are already infamous. A few are on their way to becoming infamous, others certainly should be infamous, and some shouldn't be here at all. * The inmates that I chose to write about have amazing, unique, stranger-than-fiction stories filled with action and drama. Some are dark comedies and others are tragedies. But they're more than kingpins, con men, gunrunners, cocaine cowboys, and bank robbers. They're fathers, sons, brothers, and husbands. They're anti-heroes and underdogs, trapped behind cinderblock walls surrounded by three layers of motion sensitive chain-link fences topped with razor-wire. Guarded by men in towers with high-powered assault rifles. * * YouTube video of this conversation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT4phibacKI&t=2765s * * My Appearance on the Koncrete podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkoDh5htPk4&t=927s * * Matt's YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3_q... * Matt's Website: https://insidetruecrime.com/ * Here is where you can find Sean Dustin: * Website: * www.nowheretogobutuppod.com (under construction) * Linktree: * https://linktr.ee/Nowheretogobutup * CLUBHOUSE: @seandustin * To support the show through Patreon: * https://www.patreon.com/user?u=19859993 * You can also tip me through PayPal: * www.paypal.com * recipient: nowheretogobutupnow@gmail.com * The Cash App: * https://cash.app/ * Recipient: $nwtgbupod * *

The last few days have been very instructive for me. They have demanded the best of me and mostly what I have seen was my weaknesses... Today I decided I was done with that. Here are 3 exercises to help you stay sane when you are still trying to figure out what is going on in your life. This is exactly what I have been doing and I feel like it has gotten me back into the driving seat of my life.1. Organize - Do what you can to make sense of things. Are you shooting at the right goal? Have you been playing your role well? What does success mean to you in this situation? If needed reevaluate your goals and put yourself back into the picture as someone who takes action and as the hero of your story. Trace back your steps to see why you may be feeling this way, and see what you can dig up. I spent about an hour outside in the cold today doing some deep thinking, and it helped me a lot with processing things and remembering who I am.2. Talk With Others - When I have not really known what to do talking with others has been immensely helpful. It is good if they are people that you know have your best interest, that you can be yourself around. Talking with others helps validate how you feel, and also give you an idea of why you feel that way. Recently talking with one of my good friends Mac has gotten me very excited! He is starting a book club and really wants me to be a part of it!3. Give Yourself Space - It is easy to be overly demanding of yourself. Some things really do take time and each day can be a great learning opportunity. For the purposes of this episode I have thought of space as a place where there are no expectations.Maybe it's playing video games, or going for a walk. Giving yourself some time to think things out can be immensely helpful. A lot of the time when I do these things that I love doing (like podcasting) it helps me reframe how I am doing. Doing this is not easy and is an act of self-care, but it will pay off. Give yourself time to grow. You cannot force natural growth, it must be brought out, encouraged, and helped to happen. Whether it is your business, relationships, or schooling that is the seed you are struggling to have patience with, give it some time to bloom. If you are really going through a difficult time I hope that these tips are helpful. There are many suicide hotlines and people who are more than willing to give their ear to you. Your thoughts are not you, they are just thoughts. You can change what you are thinking and slowly but surely the lights may come back on. Hang on friend. We are in this battle together. :)Scriptures I Shared:Ether 12:6Hebrews 10:35-36 (not 36-37 oops)My Appearance on the P.E.P. Philosophy professor Dr. Gwendolyn Dolske and Rudy Salo of Good Is In The Details Podcast ask their guests, "What does it mean to live life well?" In these trying times, I thought it would be perfect to bring their love of wisdom to Hot Pizza Ass where we can shoot the shit about what it's like living through a pandemic, but also dig into the philosophical aspects of "Love is Blind" and "90 Day Fiance" - we've got range. Also, what it's like being a new mother in quarantine - taking advantage of the government mandated break, and editing out baby farts from podcast episodes. Zombie films and outbreak narratives, and how it's similar to our current reality. "Love is Blind" on Netflix - and lack of body types or age range - could they have done better? My theory on how TLC's "90 Day Fiance" unexpectedly combats xenophobia. The hot mess of getting tested for Covid in LA County right now. Examining how the influx of free quarantine content might be devaluing entertainment. Asking the difficult questions of escapism - are we all going to turn into alcoholics after this? And the power of podcasting.
