Meglio noto come Sam Peckinpah. Focusing on the motivations, The Anatomy of a Spy  by Michael Smith tells the story of why spies spy, presenting a wealth of spy stories—some previously unknown and some famous—from the very human angle of the agents themselves. He breaks them into categories that go beyond the widely shared MICE - Money, Ideology, Compromise/Coercion, Ego. We discuss some classic examples from his book: Operation Diamond where the Mossad used sex and coercion on pilots to fly a MIG-29 out of Iraq in the early 60s; Gabriele Gast - who was caught up in a Stasi Romeo-operation; Polish spy Ryszard Kukliński was a patriot who shared the Warsaw Pact operational plans. We touch on the intentions and needs of spies like: Oleg Penkovsky,  Aldrich Ames, Stephen Hanssen, and Ronald Pelton - what was the nugget they were after?Michael shares some of his experience working for the BBC Monitoring Service - listening in on Cold War transmissions across Poland and East Germany. We also discuss the similarities to journalism with both terminology (stringer, fireman, source) and tradecraft from his experience as an award-winning journalist for the BBC, the Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Times. Smith is the author of a number of books, including The Secrets of Station X, Killer Elite and Foley: The Spy Who Saved 10,000 Jews, and MI6: The Real James Bonds. He is a visiting fellow at Kellogg College, Oxford.Look for the debut of the #dozendecions that Michael makes in under a minute that reveal if his true nature is that of a spy, handler, or analyst.  I'm thinking he's secret agent material. John & Heidi share funny stories of people doing weird things... plus John chats with Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. He played the iconic role of Killer Croc in the Warner Bros./DC Comics feature “Suicide Squad.” His extensive film credits include “Trumbo,” opposite Bryan Cranston; “Concussion,” opposite Will Smith and Alec Baldwin; the Sony remake of “Annie,” opposite Jamie Foxx; “Pompeii”; Marvel/Disney’s “Thor: The Dark World”; “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete”; Warner Bros.’ “Bullet to the Head”; “Killer Elite,” opposite Robert De Niro; “G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra” and “Faster” opposite Dwayne Johnson; “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”; “The Bourne Identity”; and “The Mummy Returns.” His TV roles include Frank Majors on NBC’s “American Odyssey,” Malko on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” Deacon Crane on “Hunted,” Mr. Eko on ABC’s “Lost” and Simon Adebisi on “Oz.” We will visit with him about his NEW show premiering on Monday, March 18th on ABC TV. The Fix comes from Executive Producer Marcia Clark and follows Maya Travis, an L.A. district attorney who suffers a devastating defeat after prosecuting A-list movie star Sevvy Johnson (Adewale) for double murder. With her high-profile career derailed, she flees for a quieter life in rural Washington. Eight years later, when this same star is under suspicion for another murder, Maya is lured back to the DA’s office for another chance at justice. Adewale really delivers a stand out performance portraying his character, Sevvy. It ain't. Jason tortures Todd with this movie from Todd's favorite genre, all while they discuss the state of film, the state of the nation, and probably something about the state of modern sexuality. This is the only podcast about movies with both Jason and Todd in addition to things that have nothing to do with movies. So. Yeah. The only one.

O drama-financeiro Margin Call, do novato J.C. Chandor. O porrada Killer Elite, do outro novato Gary McKendry. A ficção-científica In Time, de Andrew Niccol. O filme de invasão alienígena The Darkest Hour, de Chris Gorak. O provavelmente extremamente ofensivo The Sitter, de David Gordon Green.
