Hour 1 The Knicks' coaching search is narrowing, with Rick Pitino emphasizing the immense pressure facing the new hire. Jeff Van Gundy is a strong candidate, while Mike Malone is reportedly out. In other sports news, Pete Alonso homered twice in the Mets' win, the Yankees were shut out, and there's drama with Gilbert Arenas criticizing Karl-Anthony Towns, and a public spat between Sal Licata and Dan Dakich over the Thibs firing. Michelle Beadle was replaced by Stephen A. Smith with little notice, and the Oilers took Game 1 against the Panthers in overtime. Hour 2 The Knicks' coaching situation continues to dominate discussion, with Rick Pitino advising Karl-Anthony Towns to reduce his body fat. Callers drew parallels to the Yankees' successful transition from Buck Showalter to Joe Torre, hoping for a similar outcome for the Knicks. In other sports, the Mets defeated the Dodgers with Pete Alonso hitting two home runs, while the Yankees were shut out by the Guardians. Rick Pitino also weighed in on Aaron Judge, calling him a "Babe Ruth type player," and expressed shock at the Thibs firing, a sentiment echoed by Adam Schein and Chris Russo—the latter misnaming Leon Rose as "Leon Hess." The Oilers won Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Off the field, comedian Jeff Garlin reportedly refused to perform at an event due to an $800 cash dispute. Finally, a caller suggested Juan Soto's improved performance is simply due to him enjoying the game, rather than a Mets/Yankees rivalry. Hour 3 Michael Rubin, CEO of Fanatics, joined the show to discuss Fanatics Fest happening later this month at the Javits Center. In sports updates, the Mets beat the Dodgers with Juan Soto walking three times and Pete Alonso hitting two homers, while Griffin Canning had another strong start. The Yankees were shut out by Cleveland. We heard an uncomfortable clip of Dave Portnoy yelling at Kirk Minihane, and Michelle Beadle reacted to being replaced by Stephen A. Smith on their SiriusXM show. The Oilers won Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals in overtime. Off the field, Wayne Gretzky was trying to understand Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club." Finally, the discussion turned to MLB's new rule allowing two ball/strike challenges per team starting next season, with concern that it might slow down games after successful efforts to speed them up. Hour 4 The show discussed the Fanatics Fest event, where everyday individuals can compete against professional athletes, detailing the various challenges. Saquon Barkley made headlines with a surprising comment about a potential sudden retirement. Jerry's final update covered the Mets beating the Dodgers behind two Pete Alonso home runs, and the Yankees being shut out by Cleveland. Rick Carlisle thought the Knicks' Thibs firing as a "fake A-I story," leading to a humorous debate about whether Stephen A. Smith or Chris Russo would prefer to be President or Head Coach of the Knicks. The Oilers defeated the Panthers in overtime to win Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The "Moment of The Day" involved Gio mispronouncing "unkillable" as "unlikeable" when referring to BT's podcast. The show concluded with a discussion of the NBA's reaction to the Thibs firing.

A look at ex-White Sox in the 2024 MLB Playoffs and Buck Showalter wants to manage on the South Side? --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pinwheels-and-ivy/support
On the latest episode of the FutureSox Podcast Ian Eskridge and James Fox started with a look at the playoffs series that are currently underway, and noted a few ex-White Sox players that have been involved. They then transitioned to the recent rumor of Buck Showalter throwing his hat in the ring to manage the 2025 Southside club. Will the Sox go for another 65+ yo to helm the bench? They also go into who they think is the leading candidate at this particular moment. They moved to the AFL preview and some talk on some of the guys that will represent the White Sox in Glendale before moving to the International Scouting situation. The White Sox have fired scouts in the Dominican, Venezuela, Mexico, and Panama. Looks like a complete restructuring of the scouting system as had been suggested. They finished up the episode with a quick run through of the recent MLB Trade Rumors suggested arbitration numbers and who they cut or keep. A fun episode tonight with a lot of chat interaction.
According to Keith Law, Buck Showalter is angling for the open White Sox Manager position. Would Buck be a good fit for the South Side? Join the CHGO White Sox crew, Herb Lawrence, Vinnie Duber, and Sean Anderson as they discuss.
Garrett Wilson only has 20 receptions and he's playing with a Hall of Fame QB. Mets game 2 is tonight with Sean Manaea on the mound. A caller was very impressed with Jose Iglesias' slide into first base and how it sparked the team. We wonder if the Mets lineup will be the same tonight as it was yesterday. Boomer thinks Gio looks like JD Vance. The Mets won, so the calls are light today as Mets fans have ‘nothing to bitch about'. Jerry returns for an update but first Jerry is doing the Giants/Eagles game on the radio for Compass Media Networks. Boomer and Phil Simms will do the game with Jerry on the radio. Jerry starts with Mike Francesa's eulogy of Pete Rose. Boomer gave a different eulogy for Rose. Jerry has the sounds of Howie Rose as the Mets beat the Brewers in game 1. In the final segment of the hour, Carlos Mendoza made all the right moves in yesterday's game. It all worked out. There is a list of managers that took over for Buck Showalter and won the world series.
Hour 1 The Mets had a huge game 1 win in Milwaukee, scoring 8 runs without any RBIs from Alonso or Lindor. The Mets also didn't hit a HR and scored 8 runs. There is something special about this team. Luis Severino struggled early but settled in. The Jose Iglesias slide into first was the right play to make at that time. Jesse Winker and Willy Adames were jawing at each other after his triple down the line. How much fun would a Mets/Phillies NLDS be? Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds from Howie Rose as the Mets beat the Brewers. Jerry has all the postgame sound from the Mets key players in the game. The Braves lost to the Padres and a couple of ex-Yankees did them in. Jerry had highlights from the MLB Wild Card series. The Diamondbacks owner was asked about the Jordan Montgomery signing. He called it, ‘a horrible decision' and ‘our biggest mistake'. Aaron Rodgers was on with Pat McAfee and was asked about his relationship with Rob Saleh. There was some confusion of what Garrett Wilson said on his weekly radio spot about the Jets offense. Davante Adams has requested a trade from the Raiders. In the final segment of the hour, will Davante Adams be traded to the Jets? Boomer seems to think so. Boomer would not be surprised if he isn't a Jet next week. Rodgers seems pissed that his WRs are not where they're supposed to be when running routes. This will leave less opportunities for Garrett Wilson and he's going to want a huge contract. Boomer said he and Breece Hall have an ‘inflated view of themselves'. Hour 2 Garrett Wilson only has 20 receptions and he's playing with a Hall of Fame QB. Mets game 2 is tonight with Sean Manaea on the mound. A caller was very impressed with Jose Iglesias' slide into first base and how it sparked the team. There is a list of managers that took over for Buck Showalter and won the world series. Hour 3 Phil Simms joins us in his weekly spot. We started with the Giants going to Seattle this week and the test it will be for their defense. We also talked about the problems the Jets had with the Broncos defense. Rodgers and his receivers were just not on the same page. Phil also thinks Davante Adams will wind up with the Jets. Gio straight up asked Phil, ‘is Rob Saleh a good head coach?' Jerry returns for another update and starts with the sounds of Howie Rose as the Mets took game 1 in Milwaukee. Jerry went around the MLB Wild Card games. Garrett Wilson was on ESPN radio and he talked about the routes he's running compared to last year. Boomer said he's questioning the offensive coordinator, but Gio doesn't think so. We also talked about ‘walking bets' by Taylor Mathis. Al thinks Lucy Burdge started that. We also wondered why all the betting experts on social media are beautiful women. Buck Showalter talked about what he looks for in a player. He doesn't want a flat butt player or a player that already has a full beard. He has his reasons.
We continued our discussion on youth sports and how some parents get completely out of hand. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with the Yankees losing to the Orioles in ten innings. The Yankees retaliated by hitting two Orioles players after Aaron Judge got hit on the hand the night before. Buck Showalter talked about what he looks for in a player. He doesn't want a flat butt player or a player that already has a full beard. He has his reasons. Boomer talked about quarterbacks needing to be thick in the butt and thighs. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer said he watched the Fever vs the Mystics in the WNBA. The Mets are off and the Yankees are playing a day game, so Gio will watch the Netflix documentary, ‘Tell Them You Love Me', about a professor at Rutgers and a non-verbal person. The professor went to jail so it's pretty interesting.
Hour 1 The Grimace Mets finally lost a game after winning seven straight. The Yankees also lost to the Orioles and they have a defensive catcher problem with Jose Trevino. Yankees relievers hit two Orioles last night in retaliation for Aaron Judge getting hit the night before. Judge did not play last night. Boomer tried to talk about the Rangers and Barclay Goodrow and Gio couldn't handle it. Unfortunately he talked about it for quite a while. C-Lo is in for Jerry and is here for his first update of the day. Jerry took his family to Arizona, where it's going to be 113 degrees. C-Lo started with the Yankees loss to the Orioles and Gerrit Cole getting his first start of the season. The Mets winning streak is over and they play in Chicago starting tomorrow. In the final segment of the hour, Gio visited Gunnar yesterday and watched him ‘powerwash'. It did not go well. Gio understands, as the only tool in his toolbox is a checkbook. Hour 2 It seems to come up every year, retaliating by drilling the opposing team's hitter if they hit your guy. Gio thinks it's weird because we often talk about safety in sports, and then say you have to retaliate. The Yankees did it last night and it hurt them because the guy they hit scored. It does seem to make the fans happy, but it really didn't make much sense for them to do that. Will Aaron Judge be in the lineup today? We also somehow talked about Boomer always playing poorly in the Astrodome against the Oilers. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with a Devils trade for goalie Jacob Markstrom (Boomer insisted he start with that). He then went to Barclay Goodrow being claimed off waivers by the Sharks. Then we turned to baseball as Jose Trevino gave up another 4 steals. Gerrit Cole talked about his first start of the season. Brandon Tierney really wanted the Yankees to drill two Orioles. The Mets winning streak came to an end with a loss to the Rangers. We got into a discussion about mosquitos and how they suck our blood. In the final segment of the hour, a mom from Long Island called in to tell her side of the story from yesterday, when Jerry said there was almost a fight between parents at a little league game. A few callers came at her and she remained calm and stood her ground. Hour 3 We continued our discussion on youth sports and how some parents get completely out of hand. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with the Yankees losing to the Orioles in ten innings. The Mets are off and the Yankees are playing a day game, so Gio will watch the Netflix documentary, ‘Tell Them You Love Me', about a professor at Rutgers and a non-verbal person. The professor went to jail so it's pretty interesting. Hour 4 We talked more about the Yankees retaliating last night by hitting two Orioles hitters. We also heard from Joe Francisco, as his little league team was being badmouthed from some opponents in NJ. C-Lo returns for his final update of the day, but first Boomer tries to talk him into doing the 5-Borough Bike Tour next May. The Moment of The Day involves a little league mom defending her team's behavior and a caller telling her she's the problem with youth sports. In the final segment of the show, we are both getting texts about Team Francisco, a little league team on Long Island. Gio also talked about the lack of lovemaking if someone is staying at their house.
