This week, we review the 1980s horror comedy, "Gremlins." We discuss the movie's tone, the three...problematic...rules about what *not* to do with Mogwai, whether this movie is suitable for kids, how this movie affected the American film rating system, and the varying levels of intelligence shown by the characters throughout the movie. We even get a little philosophical about whether Gremlins are sentient or not and evil or not. Remember the three rules of Mogwai. 1. Don't expose them to light. Sunlight can kill them. 2. Don't get them wet. 3. No matter how much they beg, don't ever feed them after midnight. I'm glad I'm not a Mogwai. Midnight is never too late for chips & salsa (no matter what time zone I'm in). Get your flashlights and improvised weapons ready, and join us as we shine a light on...Gremlins. Note: Thank you for being patient with us as we catch up on our release schedule. Life got in the way for about a week, and then we had to re-record some due to unexpected audio issues. We're back on track, and we hope you stay tuned. :) ...And, tell your friends & family about us too. ;) Happy Holidays! :) E-Mail: DiscerningGeeks@gmail.com Twitter: @DiscerningGeeks Facebook: Discerning Geeks Portal Please rate or review us wherever you listen to podcasts. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/discerninggeeks/message

Hours before the world changed forever (RIP beer cheese, permanently out of season), Sarah sets out her HanuKaren holiday shrine (5 identical blonde wigs that are a likely fire hazard, directly in front of a La' Dame holiday candle) and then calls up one of her fave bright lights - writer and Team Candee translator, Rafi D'Angelo. They discuss a myriad of points defended by Team Candiace along with several rebuttals, taking care when discussing Braunwyn's coming out, and the differences between Tom and Erika's alleged fraud vs the Met Ball's favorite holy spirit. The tech troubleshooting for this ep may not have killed as many people as Mary's lunch champagne, but the resulting convo is just as delish - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 188! On the Season 5 Finale, Tom Martin joins to discuss how to "sell greatly" and bolster marketing efforts by making friends. The sales game has shifted; old models have faded into obscurity. Success is more often achieved when representatives choose to "sell greatly" rather than to "always be closing", to nurture a relationship instead of extracting a prize. *Editor's Note- Thank you so much for tuning in this year! We have some exciting plans in store for Season 6, coming 2021! Have a wonderful and safe holiday season! -Kerry & Austin
Full disclosure, there are some spoilers for the series in this recording. This past Sunday, we absolutely had to disucss the new audio teaser trailer that was recently released. We’re publishing this snippet now because we record a week ahead of time and didn't want to wait to share our opinions and reactions to what we heard and saw. Thanks for joining us! If you want to get in touch with us you can reach us in several different ways: Email: roadtotarvalon@gmail.com Amber Twitter: @RoadtoTarValon Traci Twitter: @MistressLaras Instagram: roadtotarvalon We also have a Discord channel we would love to have you join! Send Amber and message and she’ll be sure to send you an invite. You can also leave us a voice message from the Anchor and Spotify app. Mostly, we just want to continue and grow this wonderful conversation with the WoT community. Take care! Editor’s Note: Thank you for listening! I realized during the editing that we mentioned quite a few WoT content creators and I figured I would insert links here for anyone who wants to get to it quick and easy. Unraveling the Pattern’s video on the audio trailer Malkier Talk’s discussion with Zuul and Vance over pronunciation in the WoT series I think there was also a mention of Josh from the Black Tower Podcast. And the Dusty Wheel has been covering this topic as well. Hopefully I didn’t miss anyone and if I did, let me know and I’ll update things as needed.
