The Apple Of God's Eye Reader: Miriam Montgomery Date: 21st June 2021 Time: Passage: Psalm 17:8 ------------------- When David, who wrote many of the psalms, asked God to keep him as the 'apple of his eye' it shows just what a close and homely relationship he had with God. He knew that although there were many difficult problems in his life, yet he could trust God to help him to deal with them. God would keep an eye on him and protect him. The 'apple of the eye' refers to the pupil of the eye, the most sensitive part of the eye, indeed of the whole body. When someone calls you the apple of their eye it means you are really special to that person. Early on in the Bible, in Deuteronomy 32:10, God says that his people Israel were kept as 'the apple of his eye', and David wants that special and secure relationship with God to be his too. It is a really great thing to know God in such a way that we can speak to him as David did and be sure that God loves and cares for us because we are special to him. And of course every follower of the Lord Jesus is special to God — He loves us, cares about us, keeps his eye upon us and he will never let us go. That means we should enjoy speaking to God in prayer, sharing our thoughts with him, speaking to him as David did about all the things we don't understand and which cause us problems. God answers our prayers. He speaks to us in the Bible and through his people. ## Prayer Dear Lord, keep me as the apple of your eye, for Jesus' sake. Amen.

In order to rectify the Great Imbalance, we must see the world as God sees it. This involves seeing the needs among the nations, seeing the barriers to reaching the nations, and considering wise ways to meet needs and overcome barriers through faith in God.

First episode in a three part series where I look at Hillary Putnam’s lecture Realism with a Human Face. Putnam talks about quantum physics and the philosophical implications of it. Basically, Putnam sees quantum theory as providing scientific justification for putting an end to God’s Eye View conceptions of our knowledge of the universe. If we take quantum physics seriously, we must see that it implies that there can be no view from nowhere. Any perspective providing knowledge must be in some sense local - a perspective from somewhere. Quantum physics is a bit beyond my pay grade but hopefully a good conversation can come out of it.

Joe released his first ruleset Son’s of Mars around a year ago, and also talked to me about the Acceptable Casualties previously these can be found in episode 23 and 84, plus if you check out On Geeking part 3 between episode 65 and 66 you can hear Joe and I just goofing around and letting loose, if you like that sort of thing that is. In this episode Joe and I talk about his new rule set Steel & Steed which is a Medieval Knights and Tournament rule set which features jousting, mounted combat, as well as grand melee on foot and mounted, along with archery. I won’t spoil the chat by talking about it here but it was fun talking to Joe about his work, got the cogs in my brain whirring about how I could interact with it. The God's Eye program is able to hack any type of technology using a camera and presumably, satellite tracking. It feeds information gathered back to its user "under four minutes or less" to use to their whims. The God's Eye works at its best when it's close enough to its target to track, but can locate any given person at great distances. But could such uber-advanced technology ever become a reality? And if so, what will this type surveillance be capable of? Does the surveillance of the future mark a Prophecy of an All-Seeing Eye?

I've always had a minimal interest in science. There were some things that fascinated me, and other things that couldn't be more mundane. Even the classifications of living things was borderline mundane, but the ability to call out the species and genus, having some sort of variant name for things was always cool. Homo Sapiens, canis familiaris. Latin is just real cool. Even check out hericium erinaceus. Wish I had some sort of alternate name. Anyway, we find our compatriots still searching for the "God's Eye" mushroom deep within the Caves of Gritstanbul. I'm only assuming they are the caves of said place. People are being crazy. And with crazy mushrooms attacking, some people could get a little crazy. Maybe even misinterpret what others are trying to do, or just lose ones self in the moment. Does this make any sense? Probably not. Sorry for the terrible edit! Tried to get this one done quick! Much love! We are, and totally will forever be @Direweasels. He didn’t learn from the past – the writing was on the wall! In Daniel 5:1-31 the ruler of Babylon (the ancient superpower about 2,500 years ago) insulted God. He could have learned the lesson of his immediate predecessor, Nebchadnezzar, who was humbled before God, and then lifted high to such great power and glory. While Belshazzar knew all about God and how he is powerful, and how we ought to honour and worship him, he choose not to. But not only did he not learn the lesson of history, at a massive dinner party he choose to dishonour God by abusing the sacred items that had been taken from the temple in Jerusalem. In a metaphorical sense, he was spitting in God’s eye, by dishonouring him in such a public way. But then, a hand appeared and wrote on the wall, spelling out judgment for Belshazzar. He was weighted in the balance and found wanting. We could say that he was not warned like others were that he should turn from the judgment. Is it fair that he was summarily judged and died that night? The truth is that he was warned, through the lesson of his predecessor, although not directly. Just like him, we have been warned of the coming judgment of God on all that we have done (Romans 2:1-4). No-one is perfect, and we all have much to fear. That is, unless we have made our peace with God before going to trial. We can be forgiven, and avoid the judgment, if we place our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, ESV)

The Mote in God's Eye is a science fiction novel by American writers Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle, first published in 1974. The story is set in the distant future of Pournelle's CoDominium universe, and charts the first contact between humanity and an alien species.The book describes a complex alien civilization, the Moties. The Moties are radically different (both physically and psychologically) from humanity in ways that become more clear over the course of the book. The human characters range from the typical hero-type in Captain Roderick Blaine to the much more ambiguous merchant prince and suspected traitor Horace Bury. The novel is an example of hard science fiction in that close attention is paid to scientific detail. - Wikipedia

"Whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye" (2:8) is the tender language that is used to describe God's great love for his people. Zechariah chapter 3 goes on to describe an Accuser who claims that we are worthless and not the apple of God's eye. In this study we considered the role of Satan as accuser and God as the One who is for us.
