On my show, The Clay Edwards Show, I sat down with former Mississippi House Speaker Philip Gunn, who shared a heart-wrenching story about losing his family in a tragic car accident. Broadcasting from Flora, Mississippi, I listened as Philip recounted the devastating event from 1988, 37 years ago, when he was 25 and in his second year of law school at Ole Miss. His parents, both 46, and his 20-year-old sister were killed when a drunk driver struck their car, causing it to explode. Philip, newly married, described the closeness of his Christian family—his sister, his biggest fan, would crawl into his bed as a child for comfort. The loss left him reeling, compounded by the criminal trial of the driver, a repeat offender convicted of three counts of vehicular manslaughter and sentenced to 60 years. Philip credited his faith in God and his wife's support for pulling him through, believing his family is in heaven and that he'll reunite with them one day. This tragedy reshaped his priorities, emphasizing faith and family above all, and fueled his resilience to become a transformative leader in Mississippi politics.

In this episode, I'm answering a few personal questions, and getting very real about how feminism has failed women.Meghan Markle, Blake Lively, and countless other women were promised that hustle, fame, and independence would lead to happiness. Instead, what many have found is emptiness, confusion, and loneliness. We'll talk about why family is the true calling, why building a Biblical household matters more than career accolades, and why women need strong, alpha men to lead — not passive, agreeable partners like Prince Harry or Ryan Reynolds.Feminism sold us a lie. It's time to tell the truth: God's design works, and submission isn't oppression — it's order.--https://policecoffee.com/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=11458848849&gbraid=0AAAAACG7qmLDRFHf6EC_qYHR8HjYF23Xm&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiaGz_fuZjQMVlgytBh3lKRQnEAAYASAAEgJUg_D_BwE

What does it take to risk everything—your business, reputation, and safety—for what you believe in? In a world where silence often feels safer than standing out, how far would you go to protect your principles? Would you risk your career, your comfort, or even your children's future to speak truth in a time of confusion? If you've ever felt the inner war between playing it safe and doing what's right, this episode will shake you awake.Today's guest is Lindsey Graham—no, not the senator. We're talking about the bold, unstoppable Patriot Barbie. Lindsey is a fearless entrepreneur, speaker, mother, and unapologetic advocate for faith, family, and freedom. She refused to be canceled when cancel culture came knocking. After losing her salon business and nearly everything in Oregon for defying lockdown orders in 2020, she didn't back down—she rebuilt from the ashes with a renewed fire and bigger mission. With her fashion brand Pretty Little Patriot, her nationwide Melaleuca network of over 300 women, and a platform rooted in biblical values and conviction, Lindsey isn't just talking the talk—she's living it out loud. Her story is raw, resilient, and rooted in truth. This episode is not about playing politics—it's about playing for legacy.Quotes:• "I don't want to get canceled again. But more than that—I want everything I build to glorify God and reflect my convictions.” - Lindsey Graham• “Courage isn't about not having fear. It's about doing the right thing while you're shaking.” - Lindsey Graham• “If you call me a racist and I know I'm not one, why should I care? You don't get to define me—God does.” - Lindsey Graham• “I didn't open my business because I wanted to be a hero. I opened it because I had three kids to feed—and that made me brave.” - Lindsey Graham• “I would rather my kids be ‘uneducated' and get to heaven than be indoctrinated and lost in this world.” - Lindsey Graham• “Doing the right thing is always the right thing, including when it's really, really scary to do it, because that's the hardest time to actually do the right thing." - Matt BeaudreauKey Takeaways:• Use your voice—even if it's shaking. Don't wait for a crisis to stand up. Speak up now for your values, especially when it's uncomfortable.• Faith gets real in the fire. Lindsey's relationship with God deepened after losing everything. When comfort disappears, conviction gets tested.• Family leadership starts with example. Your kids are watching how you respond to adversity. Model bravery, humility, and unapologetic truth.• Conviction > Convenience. Make decisions that align with your faith and principles, even when it costs you popularity, money, or approval. Conclusion:Lindsey Graham reminds us that being bold isn't about having no fear—it's about trusting that standing for truth is always worth the risk. Her journey from salon owner in Oregon to Patriot Barbie powerhouse in Texas is a blueprint for courageous living in a time of cultural confusion. If you've been waiting for permission to be loud about what matters—this is it.

From Combat to Calling: How Chris Jung Found Faith and Fatherhood In this deeply moving episode of Domestic Dad: Cleaning Up The Mess, host Nick Barnett sits down with Chris Jung, a military veteran, husband, and father, for an emotional journey through war, trauma, healing, and redemption. Chris opens up about his deployment to Afghanistan, the loss of a friend in combat, and the invisible wounds of PTSD that followed him home. From the adrenaline of firefights and close calls with death, to the heartbreak of watching a friend's life taken in an instant, Chris shares the harrowing reality of military life with raw honesty. But the battles didn't stop when he came home. Like so many veterans, Chris found himself trying to survive civilian life with trauma he didn't know how to process—turning to alcohol to numb the pain, isolate, and escape. What followed was a hard-fought climb toward healing. Chris talks about the darkness of suicidal thoughts, the moment he picked up the phone instead of the gun, and the powerful role his wife played in helping him face his demons. Their story of love, resilience, and faith is a testament to the strength of community and the power of accountability. Nick and Chris dive deep into the challenges of marriage after trauma, the lessons learned through fatherhood, and what it means to break generational cycles. Chris also shares how he's turning pain into purpose—leading his family with intention, serving on his local fire department, and giving back through his business, Stuff Etc. in Waterloo, which is donating 10% of Father's Day sales to the Domestic Dad Project. This episode is a must-listen for veterans, parents, and anyone navigating trauma, grief, or the long road to becoming the person they were meant to be. Chris's story is a reminder that no matter how broken you feel, healing is possible—and you are never alone in the fight. 00:00 Introduction and Greetings 01:10 Childhood Memories and Challenges 04:49 Struggles with ADHD and School 13:21 Reconnecting with Estranged Father 21:10 Joining the Military 24:53 Deployment to Afghanistan 30:35 Patrolling the Sangar Valley 31:27 The Tragic Loss of Donny 33:25 Dealing with the Aftermath 36:28 A Lighter Mission 36:59 Unexpected Firefight 40:16 Battle of Dab 47:35 Returning Home and Coping 49:34 Struggles with Alcohol 52:37 Meeting My Wife 57:31 Adjusting to Family Life 01:00:16 Battling Depression and PTSD 01:03:39 Therapy and the Role of a Supportive Spouse 01:05:43 The Importance of Honesty in Marriage 01:11:29 Parenting Lessons and Disciplinary Approaches 01:16:58 The Role of Faith in Overcoming Fear 01:19:30 Memorable Moments and Lessons for Children 01:26:52 Advice for Veterans and Community Support ⸻ Website: www.domesticdadproject.com YouTube: @DomesticDadProject Facebook: Domestic Dad Project Instagram: @the_domestic_dad_project ⸻ Connect with Chris: https://www.facebook.com/chris.jung.7712
Today, we're discussing the recent controversy surrounding Shiloh Hendrix, who called a black child a racial slur at a playground instead of taking the concern to the child's parents. This behavior is not only unacceptable—it's unchristian. As followers of Christ, we are called to be above reproach (1 Timothy 3:2), especially when dealing with the next generation. God will not judge us by our skin color, so why are we so quick to judge others by theirs? We can simultaneously be aware of the statistics about certain cultures within particular races, and realize that this is not how we handle those problems. We'll explore the biblical approach to conflict resolution. When there's a problem with a child's behavior, the godly route is to speak directly with their parents—not to attack the child. Christians must hold one another accountable. --https://policecoffee.com/collections/coffee

“Last words I ever told him was I love him and keep fighting. So that's what I'm gonna live by from now on, just keep fighting, keep going no matter the circumstance but just keep on going.” Jack Bech We try to find the right words to capture the impact and emotion of this episode, but this is one, that when you listen to it, you'll understand how rare and special of a human Jack Bech is and why any NFL team who drafts him, will instantly be better for it. Whether you're an athlete, a dreamer, or someone rebuilding from a loss, this episode is a reminder: the pivot isn't the end — it's where growth begins. Ryan, Channing and Fred visit Lafayette, Louisiana, home of the Bech family and sit with Jack at the place his football career all started, St. Thomas More Catholic High School. Recent tragedy struck his family as his older brother, Tiger, was a victim of the Bourbon Street New Year's Eve attack. Jack opens up on the horrific moments of that night as he reflects on losing his brother who he idolized in every aspect from football to his faith to being his best friend since he was a young boy. In a special moment, he reveals something that he hasn't publicly shared yet about losing his brother and why now is the right time to share, With Jack projected to be a day two pick in the upcoming NFL draft, he shares that NFL teams are getting a two-for-one special as he is no longer just playing for him, but his brother too. As a wide receiver, his football journey has been anything but linear. From LSU to TCU, Jack opens up about the highs, the heartbreaks, and the headspace it takes to bet on yourself when the world starts doubting you. Coming off a dominant final year in college ball, Jack shares how he's turned grief into grit—navigating injuries, transfers, and the pressure of expectations while holding tight to his love for the game. His family's heartbreak is added-fuel towards fulfilling his dream of a long successful NFL career and names a few star wide receivers he admires and models his game after from Cooper Kupp to LSU friends Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson and Malik Nabers, taking pieces of their style to craft into his own. Jack is ready for wherever his journey takes him next and his guardian angel will be there to join him in any NFL city he calls home, and if you don't believe him, just watch. The Pivot Family will be rooting for Jack and his family this weekend as his football fate is determined. Don't forget to subscribe and comment below. Learn more about your ad choices. EP 150 - Caroline Smith, Learning to Thrive With AutismLiving with Autism certainly has its challenges, but that doesn't stop many with the diagnosis from going out in the world and seeking out a fulfilling life. Like most neurodivergent conditions, there are many things you can do to grow and get better at thriving in an every changing world. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: Why Caroline both refers to herself as and named her business “The Introverted Misfit” Where the source of most of Caroline's anxiety comes from and how she found outWhy Autism is harder to spot early on and how that leads to further troublesHow being bullied by kids about her voice made Caroline hesitant to speak up in teen meetings as an adultWhy breaking things up in smaller more manageable bites is almost always helpfulWhy Caroline feels that affirmations are important but eventually you need to face your fearsWhat Caroline likes most about working with teens and how she feels she helpsFAVORITE QUOTE: Caroline Smith“I was terrified of speaking above a whisper.”Caroline Smith___________________________________________________________________________CONNECT WITH GUESTFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61564820191463&mibextid=ZbWKwLWebsite: https://theintrovertedmisfit.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/theintrovertedmisfit/Podcast: https://violin-groundhog-kwbc.squarespace.com/podcastBio:Caroline Smith founded her business, The Introverted Misfit, to help shy, socially awkward, introverts become socially confident versions of themselves in a way that feels natural for them. After about a decade of being frustrated, depressed, and unsatisfied with how much her lack of social skills and social anxiety was stunting her personal and eventually her professional growth, she had had enough of constantly avoiding social outings just to prevent potential social interactions. Her story is a little more unique because of her experience with being autistic, which was the source of many social and communication deficits. Because she was able to overcome her social and communication skills deficits despite being on the autism spectrum, she uses her platform and her 1-on-1 coaching services to help fellow introverted misfits who struggle with socializing and finding community – whether they are autistic or not – learn how to connect with others, create fruitful relationships, and have a manageable social life – without acting extroverted! ___________________________________________________________________________CONNECT with Lori: Facebook: @LoriMJewettInstagram: @jewettloriThe “80HD Book” - ORDER HERE!
