This week on JavaScript Jabber, we're joined (again!) by Val Karpov — the maintainer of Mongoose — to talk about what's new in Mongoose 9, how async stack traces are changing the debugging game, and why AI is quietly reshaping the way we build developer tools. We dig into stricter TypeScript support, the removal of callback-based middleware, and what it really takes to modernize a massive codebase. Then we shift gears into Mongoose Studio, a schema-aware, AI-enhanced MongoDB GUI that brings streaming query results, map visualizations, and even LLM-powered document generation into your workflow. If you've ever wrestled with debugging database issues or squinting at raw JSON, this episode will get your wheels turning. We also explore Cassandra integration, vector search, Bun vs. Deno, and what AI means for the future of software engineering. There's a lot here — especially if you're working in Node.js, MongoDB, or building backend-heavy JavaScript apps.
This week on Off the Shelf, Ken Dodds, executive vice president and general counsel for Coalition for Common Sense in Government Procurement, joins host Roger Waldron to discuss some of the most important small business rules impacting procurement. In the wake of the Department of War's memo on pass-throughs and reviewing set-asides over $20 million, Dodds shares his insights on framework and limitations on subcontracting under small business set-asides contracts and the government's corresponding focus when reviewing subcontracts under set-asides and want constitutes a potential pass-through situation. He provides the nuances inherit in these rules that play an understated role in management of small business programs. Finally Dodds gives his thoughts on a host of current procurement topics, including GSA's Reseller RFI, commercial practices and the RFO. Read the constitution. Previously: 'soul document' discussion here. We're publishing a new constitution for our AI model, Claude. It's a detailed description of Anthropic's vision for Claude's values and behavior; a holistic document that explains the context in which Claude operates and the kind of entity we would like Claude to be. The constitution is a crucial part of our model training process, and its content directly shapes Claude's behavior. Training models is a difficult task, and Claude's outputs might not always adhere to the constitution's ideals. But we think that the way the new constitution is written—with a thorough explanation of our intentions and the reasons behind them—makes it more likely to cultivate good values during training. In this post, we describe what we've included in the new constitution and some of the considerations that informed our approach. We're releasing Claude's constitution in full under a Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Deed, meaning it can be freely used by anyone for any purpose without asking for permission. What is Claude's Constitution? Claude's constitution is the foundational document that both expresses and shapes who Claude is. In this very special episode of Oxford Lives we are lucky enough to be able to interview The Right Honourable Dame Anneliese Dodds. Anneliese has been kind enought to take time out of her busy schedule (you'll hear all about that!) to talk about her life in Oxford: as a student, resident, and MP for Oxford East. We also touch on Anneliese's time as an MEP for South East England during a tumultuous period in recent British History. Sit back, relax, and listen to this riveting chat with one of the city's most vehement champions.

At 34, Phillip Brett is one of Stormont's younger MLAs and the North Belfast Assembly man has seen his profile grow since being elected to Stormont in 2022. On Prophecy Radio episode #148, Karen and Kristen discuss Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 2, “Demon Pigeons Attack.” They skip the news this time (since they just recorded the day before) and recap all the most interesting behind-the-scenes facts from the Official Percy Jackson Podcast. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 2 discussion (00:02:59) This is the long-awaited chariot race episode! The Stymphalian birds are super creepy looking. Percy's superpower is water and also breaking the rules. Annabeth is so smart and sneaky! Chiron's musical choices are perfect and we wouldn't change a thing. Clarisse's idea of flirting is…aggressive. How do we feel about the new Chris Rodriguez? Should Annabeth and Percy have kept the coordinates to themselves? Chiron warns Annabeth of the Great Prophecy. How do we feel about the line, “He can't know there's something he can't know”? Boon. Tyson is so sweet to write home to Sally. We love how they're portraying Tyson as an innocent but intelligent person. The mimicry is…unnerving. We love Timothy Simons and Jason Mantzoukas playing opposite each other. Will we see Bondi again down the line? We love everything about the chariot race. Tantalus screaming bloody murder almost took us out. Mariah Carey was the perfect song choice, and Percy holding the stereo was classic. Do you know what's on Mr. D's shirt? Did Tantalus share the wrong coordinates on purpose or is he just an idiot? Was it just us or did Clarisse not seem too excited about her quest? It didn't take much convincing for Clarisse to pick Annabeth. But, oh, the betrayal!! WE FINALLY GET THE WEDDING DRESS. The interplay between these two characters is so natural. Percy is not asking for permission. Is anyone surprised? Quest approved! We're really coming around to Lin as Hermes. He cares about his son so much, even if he's been an absent father this whole time. Percy reasoned out why Annabeth would betray him, and they have a really deep conversation. Did Percy really leave the Camp border? Is the fact that they can never return in the books?? We talk about who Danny Virtue is. Next time on Percy Jackson and the Olympians… Percy Jackson and the Olympians Official Podcast highlights (01:07:20) There was SO MUCH awesome behind-the-scenes information in this episode. Of course, one of the first things they talk about is the dress. Tim's kids are big fans of the series. The dynamic between Tantalus and Mr. D is super interesting. It must be so fun being an adult on a show like this where you just get to be silly. Did you know the whole story behind Mrs. Dodds? Tantalus looks so different from everyone else because he's from the Underworld. They spend a lot of time talking about the chariot race scene, and it is AWESOME. How cool is it that the kids got to work with Danny Virtue? Aryan had to teach someone else how to goat walk this season. We learn more about how Lin came to be Hermes. If given another chance, Tantalus would totally monologue again. Tyson is now Percy's most loyal friend… Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 149, where we'll recap Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 3, as well as the next episode of the Official Percy Jackson Podcast. This week on Mind Your Head, I sat down with Logan Dodds - a bloke who's lived more lives in a few years than most of us do in a lifetime.Logan was a plumber in Auckland, just doing life, until everything changed the day he suddenly lost his dad. That loss pushed him to leave New Zealand and chase something bigger. He travelled through Europe with no real plan, filmed the whole thing, and posted a video to Facebook… and overnight, it went viral. From there, his life flipped. He saw the world, met people, and experienced things he'd only ever dreamed of.But behind all of that adventure was a young man still grieving, still trying to understand himself, and still figuring out who he was without the person he looked up to most.We spoke about finding passion and purpose, following those green lights, creativity and storytelling, overcoming fear and failure, and the importance of gratitude and perspective - especially now as he steps into the biggest challenge and reward of his life: fatherhood. This chat was special. I'm genuinely grateful for how honest and vulnerable Logan was. This episode is brought to you by True Protein. In this episode of the Defence Connect Spotlight podcast, host Steve Kuper is joined by Mark Gainsford and Matt Dodds of Systematic to discuss the digital transformation shaping the Australian Defence Force. The trio also examine how, in an era of renewed great power competition, the ADF must adapt to warfare defined by data, speed and contested information environments. They highlight that the pace of technological and operational change demands tools to cut through "information noise" and deliver decision superiority. Artificial intelligence and analytics can help achieve this, but only when paired with strong training and trust. Moving on, they discuss the importance of testing and refining AI through realistic digital simulations, enabling adaptation to changing conditions without the cost or risk of live training. They also talk about the role of digital infrastructure in preparing warfighters for degraded and contested communications environments, where jamming and disruption are common. Investing in resilient, upgradeable systems ensures the ADF maintains operational tempo and confidence in complex conditions. Finally, they discuss investing in sovereign digital infrastructure, trusted AI and realistic simulation today so the ADF can build the integrated, information-led force needed to out-think and outfight its adversaries – mastering in training what must never be learned in combat. Wendy Dodds has been at the heart of English and British fell running since before most of us could tie our laces. Now approaching her 75th birthday, Wendy has been racing in the hills since the early 70s, across the breadth of the sport. In 1972 she paired up with Val Finch (nee Pacey) to be the first women's team to complete the KIMM mountain marathon. She was also the first person ever to complete the Paddy Buckley round in Snowdonia, and took part in the inaugural Dragon's Back multiday race in 1992.As well as having done far too much to list here, her longevity is incredible, listing 37 Yorkshire 3 Peaks races to her name for example.Throughout her running career Wendy worked as a doctor, both as a Consultant Rheumatologist and as a Sports Medicine Physician. As she has gotten older she has been a strong advocate for older age categories in championship races, and herself has multiple FV50, FV55, FV60 and FV65 English championship results. If you are interested in the KIMM / OMM mountain marathons, please also see Episode 28 with Janie Oates and Victoria Thompson who won the 2022 Elite OMM and were at the time the only female Elite category finishers since 2016. Episode 41 also features Phil Rutter and myself discussing winning the OMM 2024.If you want to buy me a cuppa to help support the podcast, thank you and please do at: https://ko-fi.com/finlaywild
Anneliese Dodds sits down with Beth Rigby for her first long-form interview since stepping down from Labour's front bench.Reflecting on the party's first year in power, the former International Development Minister and Women and Equalities Minister reveals what happened the moment she decided to resign from Sir Keir Starmer's government - and the "uncomfortable" days she spent in the run up to telling the prime minister - who was otherwise engaged... sitting in the White House with Donald Trump.Dodds explains how difficult her decision was - partly due to her ingrained support for the government - she was once as close as you could get to the prime minister, his shadow chancellor in Opposition. But in this podcast, she gives her assessment on Labour's economic policy and makes the argument for more taxation. So, how does Dodds rate Labour's first year? And how can the government "change" for the better, going into its second year?Remember, you can also watch us on YouTube.
