Alan Dunne is joined by Mike Pyle, Deputy Head of BlackRock's Portfolio Management Group, to explore how a supply-driven world is reshaping markets and portfolio construction. They discuss the transition from the demand-constrained 2010s to an era defined by scarcity, fiscal activism, geopolitical shocks and the immense capital demands of AI. Pyle explains why bonds may no longer provide the diversification they once did, why hedge funds and market-neutral strategies are becoming increasingly important, and how portable alpha can separate beta from return generation. They also examine AI productivity, equity valuations and what should replace the traditional 60/40 portfolio.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Alan on Twitter.Follow Mike on LinkedIn.Episode TimeStamps: 00:00 Mike Pyle's journey from policymaking to investing04:30 The shift from a demand-driven to a supply-driven world07:29 Why the stock-bond relationship has changed12:09 The return of fiscal activism15:52 AI, scarcity and the growing demands on capital19:57 When will AI productivity begin to transform the economy?22:53 AI, inflation and the future of interest rates25:23 AI valuations, earnings and whether markets are in a bubble29:48 Building portfolios for the new macro regime33:35 Private markets, income and hedge fund diversification37:06 Why multi-strategy investing matters42:19 Leverage, factor exposure and lessons from the quant crisis46:08 Why the environment for hedge funds has improved48:39 Portable alpha and separating alpha from beta52:51 What comes after the traditional 60/40 portfolio56:47 How AI could transform investment management01:00:19 Mike Pyle's advice for the next generation of investorsCopyright © 2025 – CMC AG – All Rights Reserved----PLUS: Whenever you're ready... here are 3 ways I can help you in your investment Journey:1. eBooks that cover key topics that you need to know about In my eBooks, I put together some key discoveries and things I have learnt during the more than 3 decades I have worked in the Trend Following industry, which I hope you will find useful. "Mothers Nursery Tales" by Katharine Pyle invites listeners into a world where ancient fairy tales are cherished truths, rich in wisdom and timeless in their appeal. These stories, gathered from various cultures, resonate with the spirit of childhood and the simplicity of life, echoing the experiences of generations long past. Pyle suggests that these tales, like magical fruit from the Tree of Wisdom, offer nourishment for the soul, remaining as vibrant and relevant today as they were when first shared. Their enduring nature lies in their ability to convey universal truths, making them a delightful and enriching listen for both young and old alike.

Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”A billionaire-by-today's-standards heiress walks away from New York high society, gets disinherited for becoming Catholic, and ends up in a poor mountain town because a stigmatic friar tells her to stay. That's Mary Pyle, and her hidden life helps explain why devotion to Padre Pio spread so far, especially among American soldiers who came home changed. We sit down with author Susan De Bartoli, secretary of the board of the Padre Pio Foundation of America and founder of Little Flower Pilgrimages, to tell Mary's story. ...Mary's early sense that “something was missing,” her years working with Maria Montessori as a multilingual assistant, and the moment Padre Pio looks at her and calmly claims her future: “This time you remain.” Then the wartime stories hit. Susan recounts the WWII bombing mission reportedly stopped by a monk in the sky, and how GIs later recognize Padre Pio's face, along with images of Our Lady holding the Child and Saint Michael with a sword. Subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find the story.Padre Pio's American Daughter: The Story of Mary PyleVisit the site of Padre Pio and more! There she lived until the day she met a laborer named George Toogood and fell in love. They were soon married. After being deserted by her husband, Mary settled in West Chester, operating a boardinghouse situated in Pyle's Alley. Known throughout town as Mamie Toogood, Mary was a jovial woman with a big heart who opened her home to any of the local black population who needed a roof over their heads and food in their bellies.Unfortunately for Mamie, her kindness began to attract the wrong sort of characters and gradually her reputation began to tarnish. And then, in February of 1906, there occurred an unfortunate event that forever altered her fortunes. Brady Pyle explains how NASA moved from good engagement scores to significantly stronger results by becoming intentional about culture, listening to employees, focusing on a critical few improvements, involving employee teams in solutions, and communicating visible progress back to the workforce. The conversation explores why organisations collect engagement data but fail to act on it, why culture cannot be delegated to HR, why leadership development is a must-have, and how the 70-20-10 model can help leaders grow through experience, mentoring, coaching, and formal learning. Niels Brabandt and Brady Pyle also discuss inclusion, innovation, organisational arrogance, lessons following the Columbia accident, benchmarking, continuous improvement, and how organisations can sustain culture momentum when daily business returns. In the summer of 1997, fear spread across the campus of Arizona State University as reports surfaced of women being attacked while walking home alone at night. Students were warned to stay alert, travel in groups, and avoid being out after dark. But no one expected the danger to strike in broad daylight. When 21-year-old Fiona Yu was found brutally murdered inside her own apartment, investigators described the crime as a frenzied blitz attack. With little physical evidence and only the belief that Fiona may have known her killer, police scrambled to stop whoever was responsible before they struck again. Then, two more women were attacked in eerily similar ways, raising fears that a predator was targeting women near campus.Connect with us on Social Media! You can find us at:Instagram: @bookofthedeadpodX: @bkofthedeadpodFacebook: The Book of the Dead PodcastTikTok: BookofthedeadpodOr visit our website at www.botdpod.com12 News (KPNX). 1. "Fueling America: 250 Years of Energy Innovation"Tom Hall introduces the Institute for Energy Research's special project celebrating America's 250th anniversary by highlighting the nation's leadership in energy innovation. Key points include:The U.S. has historically led in energy innovation (Drake well, Henry Ford, Wright brothers, first LNG terminal)Energy innovation has been a driver of progress, democracy, freedom, and prosperityThe project focuses on prominent figures and innovators in the energy sector throughout American history2. Property Rights and American Energy ExceptionalismA critical distinction is made about why the U.S. is uniquely positioned as an energy producer:American property owners own subsurface mineral rights, unlike most countries where governments own themThis uniquely American system of property rights, combined with the rule of law and common law system, has been fundamental to energy progressThis explains why the U.S. leads in shale production while other countries (Bulgaria, England, Germany) don't3. Iran Crisis and Geopolitical StrategyExtensive discussion of the current conflict with Iran, including:A 47-year struggle with a radical regime that finances terrorism through oil revenuesThe blockade strategy as a way to starve the government of revenue without ground warThe importance of preventing Iran from controlling the Strait of HormuzThe need for regime change (civilian government replacing the mullahs) for lasting successHow U.S. energy strength (shale revolution, LNG exports) enables this policy4. Global Energy Market RealignmentThe conversation explores how the geopolitical situation is reshaping global energy:OPEC is effectively dead as a controlling forceThe U.S. is now the "swing producer"Expected shifts in oil trade flows and relationshipsUAE's withdrawal from OPEC signals the organization's declinePotential strategic alliance between Saudi Arabia and Israel5. Trump Administration's Energy Policy ImpactDiscussion of how Trump's policies are reshaping energy regulation:Repeal of Chevron deference and the EPA's 2009 endangerment findingThese repeals dismantle the legal foundations of Obama and Biden energy restrictionsTrump is described as "American energy unleashed"Broader policy shifts including border control and NATO burden-sharing6. Venezuela's Energy RecoveryAnalysis of Venezuela's potential return as an oil producer:Venezuela previously produced 3+ million barrels per day before Maduro/ChavezExxonMobil is now exploring re-entry into the marketRecovery would supply Gulf refineries with heavy crudeThis would increase U.S. exports and reshape oil marketsBenefits would extend to Venezuelan people through economic improvement7. California's Energy CrisisDiscussion of California's self-inflicted energy problems:The state has transitioned from a major oil producer to being dependent on Middle East importsOne-party rule has created policies that drove out oil companies (Chevron, Valero)Climate policies have merely exported emissions rather than reducing them globallyTrump suspended the Jones Act to help alleviate the crisisThe state serves as a cautionary tale of poor energy policy8. Broader Geopolitical RealignmentThemes about shifting international relationships:The U.S. is becoming more naturally aligned with countries like India than FranceEuropean countries are moving toward authoritarian socialism and proving unreliable alliesThe Trump administration is reshuffling long-standing international arrangements (NATO, embassy moves, etc.)Focus on Western Hemisphere security (the "Don Roe doctrine")This podcast presents a comprehensive view of how energy policy, geopolitics, and innovation intersect to shape global affairs.Follow David on his Substack https://blackmon.substack.com/

Drawing primarily from 1 Timothy 6 and Philippians 4, the sermon explores how the "love of money" functions as a powerful rival to God, potentially leading believers to "wander away from the faith" and "pierce themselves with many griefs." Subscribe to AfterWords on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.Download a copy of the Exodus JournalVisit us online: rivchurch.comFollow us on InstagramSend us feedback: podcast@rivchurch.comSubscribe to AfterWords on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.Visit us online: rivchurch.comFollow us on InstagramSend us feedback: podcast@rivchurch.com
