But here's the good news: you don't have to just accept that as the norm. Juli was a stay at mom for many years to five children before deciding to return to school to pursue a degree in nursing. She graduated from Colorado Mesa University with a bachelors of science in nursing degree in 2016 and then began her nursing career as a labor and delivery nurse. She quickly discovered that this was her true passion (as she had suspected since birthing her own children) and rapidly gained a reputation for professionalism, compassion and expertise among colleagues and patients. She then returned to Frontier Nursing University to complete a Master's degree in Nursing with an emphasis in midwifery. In 2020, she began her career as a certified nurse-midwife at a small community hospital in central Pennsylvania where she has been since that time. Her focus as a CNM is to provide evidence-based education to all birthing families, give true autonomy and informed consent throughout their time with her and to share love, understanding, empathy and true shared-decision making. Juli also currently serves on the Pennsylvania MMRC (maternal mortality review committee). When not immersed in the birthing world, she enjoys spending time refinishing furniture, gardening, raising chickens, hiking and vacationing with her husband and family. Here are some of the main takeaways and fascinating tidbits that will surely spark your curiosity:Key Lessons and Ideas:Early Beginnings: Rick's first astral projection happened when he was just a few months old! Imagine floating above your house as a baby and later describing it in detail to your parents.Childhood Adventures: By age four, Rick was already rolling out of his body and flying around his neighborhood. He thought everyone had these experiences until his peers called him weird.Navigating Fear: Rick's encounters with shadowy figures and other entities taught him that fear feeds these beings. His advice? Stay calm and remember they lack true intelligence.Historical Interviews: Rick has interviewed over 400 disembodied souls, including historical figures like Jesus and Genghis Khan. His YouTube channel is a treasure trove of these conversations.Astral Travel Tips: Beginners often experience vibrational sensations. Rick's tip: Don't fear the shadowy figures—they thrive on fear.Unique Encounters: From comforting a gruesome spirit on a playground to meeting extraterrestrial beings, Rick's astral travels are filled with awe-inspiring stories.Time Travel: Rick has ventured back to prehistoric times and even into the future, meeting tribes in 15,000 AD. Time, he says, is an illusion in the astral realm.Spiritual Guides: Rick met his spiritual guide in college—a straight-laced man in a business suit who eventually developed a sense of humor.Practical Advice: Avoid projecting into active cemeteries, electric substations, and battlefields due to heavy or negative energies.Curiosities to Ponder:Lucid Dreams vs. Astral Projection: Rick describes lucid dreams and astral projection as “cousins.” Lucid dreams can often lead to astral projections and vice versa.Extraterrestrial Encounters: Rick's astral travels have taken him to the moon, other planets, and even aboard alien crafts. His experiences with different species, like the Pleiadians and Reptilians, are mind-blowing.Why You Should Listen:Rick's journey is a testament to the endless possibilities that lie beyond our physical reality. Whether you're a seasoned astral traveler or just curious about the non-physical realm, this episode offers valuable insights and practical advice. Plus, Rick's stories are not only enlightening but also incredibly entertaining.

In this message, Pastor Tony explores the significant role of emotions in our lives, noting that both humans and God experience them, though human emotions are impacted by sin. Drawing from the Psalms, especially Psalm 13, he highlights how emotions can be raw and honest, demonstrating that God is a safe recipient for all our feelings. Tony emphasizes three principles for navigating our emotional lives: applying wisdom to our responses, viewing emotions as gauges (information) rather than guides (directives), and allowing God's Word to speak truth to our feelings.Subscribe to AfterWords on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.Download a copy of the Exodus JournalVisit us online: rivchurch.comFollow us on InstagramSend us feedback: podcast@rivchurch.comSubscribe to AfterWords on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.Visit us online: rivchurch.comFollow us on InstagramSend us feedback: podcast@rivchurch.com
What happens when the journey into parenthood collides with mental health challenges? This episode pulls back the curtain on a critical yet often overlooked aspect of becoming a parent - perinatal mental health - and discusses The Menninger Clinic's innovative "hospital without walls" approach to supporting families. Clinical social workers Emily Pyle, LPC-S, and Michael Riley, LCSW-S, from Menninger 360 join us to explore their wraparound care model that meets parents exactly where they are - in their homes and communities. They reveal a stark reality --- that perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are the leading medical complication in childbearing and the leading cause of maternal death in the United States, affecting one in three pregnancy-related deaths. The conversation explores how mental health challenges manifest differently between birthing parents and their partners, with fascinating insights into the biological and psychosocial factors involved. They reveal that up to 10% of new fathers experience clinical depression or anxiety, often showing symptoms through distancing behaviors, substance use, and irritability. Also sharing that fathers undergo documented hormonal shifts including decreased testosterone and increased cortisol. Moving to a multigenerational perspective, the discussion examines how untreated perinatal mental health issues can impact child development through disrupted attachment and the modeling of coping mechanisms. Our experts share crucial warning signs for clinicians and loved ones to watch for, while emphasizing that effective, evidence-based treatments exist, emphasizing that the challenge lies in making them accessible. Whether you're a mental health professional, an expectant parent, or someone supporting a growing family, this episode offers vital insights into creating supportive environments during one of life's most transformative journeys. Listen and join the conversation about how we can better support the mental health of parents and families.Follow The Menninger Clinic on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn to stay up to date on new Mind Dive episodes.
