Just another Friday night in the Steel Capital of the world, and the defending World Series champions welcome the St Louis Cardinals to Pittsburgh? Think again. The Pirates' 1960 World Series win feels like it is from another era, as the team struggled through injuries and performance, but was still adrift in the middle of the National League. The NL is looking tired as well, stuck with 8 teams and a 154-game season, waiting for the expansion and a league-wide draft to rip up the old order.Yet the new order is on the field tonight, as the Forbes Field crowds witness what we now know is a Hall of Fame showcase: the legendary Stan Musial in the twilight of his career, the power of Roberto Clemente on his way to his first batting title, the defensive wizard Bill Mazeroski, and a young, ferocious Bob Gibson. It's Bob Gibson who stands out. In 1961, Gibson unlocked his pitching, moving from a sophomore-year ERA of 5.61 to throwing 10 complete games and posting an ERA of 3.24. He's tonight's starting pitcher, throwing to the young Tim McCarver, also on his way to changing the baseball world forever.Ewan Spence and the Classic Baseball Radio team bring you this recreated radio broadcast from June 16, 1961. This Alabaster Grave is Cengiz Yar's first monograph exploring the overwhelming destruction and pain faced by the Iraqi city of Mosul, within the context of its history and unique, now largely ruined, architecture. The book questions the cost of the fight against ISIS and global war on terror as told through the lives and city that bore the brunt of its destructive force. The photographs were made between 2015 and 2023 and fluctuate between reportage and moments of contemplation. The book includes a foreword from Azmat Khan, an essay by Campbell MacDiarmid, and a pullout map. It is designed by Jason Koxvold of Gnomic Book and written in both English and Arabic.Near the end of the show Michael also asks Cengiz about his time in Minnesota during the height of the ICE protests.https://www.cengizyar.comThis podcast is sponsored by the Charcoal Book Club - Begin Building your dream photobook library today at:https://charcoalbookclub.comCengiz is a documentary photographer and editor based in El Paso, Texas. In Mark 14:1–25, we're invited into a tension-filled moment where devotion and betrayal sit side by side. A woman breaks open an alabaster jar and pours out costly perfume—an act others call wasteful, but Jesus calls beautiful. At the same time, Judas quietly prepares to trade Jesus for silver. It's a scene that confronts us with a question: what is Jesus worth to us? Is He someone we measure and manage, or someone we surrender to without reservation? In a world driven by efficiency and image, this passage reminds us that authentic worship is often misunderstood—and always costly. As the story moves to the Last Supper, Jesus reframes everything through bread and cup, pointing to a sacrifice that redefines love and loyalty. Even as betrayal looms, He offers Himself freely. This isn't just a historical moment—it's an invitation. To examine our own hearts. To recognize where we've held back. And to respond not with calculated gestures, but with wholehearted trust. Because in the kingdom Jesus ushers in, the greatest act isn't taking—it's giving everything.

This week we finally crest the peak of our reading of Spurgeon's sermons, crossing the halfway line in our reading through the Passmore & Alabaster collection of his preaching. This address, on love as the first fruit of the Spirit, is a fitting marker for the occasion. The sermon bears many of Spurgeon's hallmarks: richly doctrinal and practical and experimental; full of a lively sense of the Holy Spirit; rising to a Christ-centred crescendo; pleading for the holiness of God's people and the salvation of the lost; a thorough sense of the text in its context; an inventive and engaging outline; a delight in the grace of our heavenly Father; a lively hope of heaven; a plain call to penetrating self-examination. In one sense there is nothing remarkable about the sermon. In another sense, the fact that this is a further sermon showing a consistent richness of substance and a sustained intensity of spirituality makes it notable not because it stands out but because it is more of the same, and it warms our hearts. Elena. Jonathan. Nicky. Veile. Four would-be adventurers, drawn together by circumstance yet bound by fate. At the helm of the Little Snail, they've driven full speed towards the glint of an assassin's scope, believing that sometimes, the safest place to hide from a killer is right under his nose. Whether or not it will work, this tactic has brought them to new sights, and a new city: Calstega Bay. This industrious burg was once ruled by a tyrannical limb of the Adelvys Dynasty, Grand Sonnerian royalty and masters of the Manakin, doll-like beings brought to life by powerful, clockwork magic. When the Manakin took their freedom, they turned the Duke's palace into a people's plaza, and transformed the city into a seaside sanctuary for the curious and creative. But today, the city faces a new threat. The Valte Empire. All across the world, in search of the power to halt the coming apocalypse, they have deployed their best, whether canny, competent, or cruel. Opal. Onyx. Cinnabar. Citrine. Zorite. Zircon. Alabaster. Agate. Spread across Perpetua in pairs, these marshals and commodores, these spymasters and scientists desperately seek an anti-apocalyptic solution, no matter the cost. And today, that cost is the people of Calstega Bay, newly occupied by this airborne stratocracy. Whether by iron sword or velvet glove, the Valte plunder the city, working alongside a hired killer on his own fated mission. As the crew of the Little Snail tries to maneuver through the world of politics and power, they may just end up in dark places, lit only by flashes of a fight older than this world—and perhaps, older than life itself. This week on Perpetua: Pt 1 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.04] Some Feedback [Page 14 of 18] TheDiamondRanger Is there a way to change classes in this one or is that only in the last game? FriendofNei Hey guys, sorry to derail but I really need some help on the Calstega Bay section. I have most of the big fights and everything stratted out already, but the one thing I'm struggling with is the big competition section (which you should make sure to skip if you want to do ANY shopping before things really kick off, by the way!) Is anyone able to reverse engineer how the judge calculations work? I thought it had to do with favored ingredients but I"m not sure. Anyone have any good recipes? Also, DiamondRanger, there isn't a previous game in this series, you must be thinking of something else. TheDiamondRanger Isn't this a sequel to KosmoKairosis in the same universe? As for recipes, I know how to make a hamburger, toast, and my I learned how to make scrambled eggs last week but other than that I don't cook. Alukard83 You should try using those weird Dragon Path ingredients if you have them, I think they give bonus points? TheDiamondRanger Wait does this game have cooking in it? Alukard83 . . . . . . . . . Are you even playing the game? Nicky IS A CHEF. TheDiamondRanger I thought NIcky Dashiel was a Dark Blade/Gourmet. And no I'm not playing, because I don't have enough trade in points. I'm hoping i get it for my birthday though. TheDiamondRanger [Deleted by mods. DO NOT DOUBLE POST.] Alukard83 Are you allowed to be on this website? AND WHAT DO YOU THINK GOURMET MEANS. TheDiamondRanger I asked my dad and he says it means a really expensive meal. Alukard83 You thought Nicky was an EXPENSIVE MEAL? CarlsSr Wait, how DO you make a hamburger in Perpetua? Matthew Chapter 26 reveals the unique story of the Alabaster Box. It is very important because God wants us to understand everything about Alabaster Giving. It is a different kind of giving style altogether. This event is mentioned in all four Gospels, and as Jesus said, wherever the gospel is preached, what she has done will be told in memory of her. Jesus gave and gave and gave—but this is one of the few times when someone gave to Him. So this is a story we can learn a lot from.
