Lauren Minear, a singer/songwriter from upstate NY. Lauren released her debut album, Invisible Woman, in October this year with a sold-out launch show at the Red Room in Manhattan. The album explores womanhood and the role of a mother in the modern world. Lauren was inspired to make the album after having her second child just as the pandemic started and navigating the difficulties of motherhood/postpartum depression during that strange time. Lauren's story is a fascinating one; raised in Nashville, graduated from Yale, worked in Finance in NY, trained as a psychotherapist, is a mother to 2 boys, now pursuing a career in music and building real momentum. Lauren Minear announces the release of her debut album, Invisible Woman, which dropped on October 15, 2022. Her singles from the album, “Soul Tied” and “Last Generation,” are out now on all music streaming platforms. Produced with a number of collaborators, Minear's new album consists of 11 songs that she wrote while struggling with postpartum depression during the height of the pandemic. To create the album, Minear worked with multiple producers that she met virtually through an online network, The Online Recording Studio (TORS). One of her collaborators was UK producer Dan Weeks at WWW Studios in London who produced "Soul Tied", "Last Generation", "Too Much Of You", "Heartbroken" and also mastered all of the tracks on the album. The artist also collaborated with award-winning songwriter, Grace Askew (The Voice, Season 4) on the last track on the album, “The Unknown.” Minear recorded the song as a solo acoustic in her home studio (guest room), and had Weeks mix and master the track. Minear and Weeks also worked together to expand her sound from an Americana/folk style to a more distinctive soulful, lyric-driven indie pop sound that she has today. In addition, Minear worked with NYC music producer, composer, mixing engineer, and guitarist Dan Barracuda as a producer and mixer on a number of the tracks. She also brought on guitarist and producer Cory Clark to produce her track, "Long Way Down." Minear produced one track, "Mothers", herself. She hired strings arranger Stevie Blacke and guitarist Cory Clark to track the instrumental parts. She recruited two close friends who also had babies during the pandemic to sing background vocals. Lauren Minear is a Nashville-raised singer-songwriter set to release her debut album, Invisible Woman, out October 14. She is steeped in the vulnerability of Nashville soul, the real deal; tender and passionate, yet raw and brutally honest songwriting in the lineage of Joni Mitchell, Lucinda Williams, and Gillian Welch. Like these women, Lauren wears her heart on her sleeve as she explores the corners of love through a fragile lens of self-awareness, evoking the likes of Anais Mitchell, Taylor Swift, and Natalie Merchant.Born in Manhattan, Lauren's family moved to Nashville, where she grew up, spending her formative years sharing her parents' love of Brooks & Dunn, KD Lang, Garth Brooks, and Patsy Cline. She also immersed herself in the sounds from the country music radio stations they tuned into on their regular drives from the city to New Orleans to visit her grandparents and the southern soul there, radiating out of The Big Easy.Memorizing songs by Faith Hill, Amy Grant, Mariah Carey, and Shania Twain, and with Nashville songwriting seemingly steeped in her blood, Lauren Minear wrote her first song, "Daddy's Little Girl," at 14 years old, and soon found herself interning on Music Row at Major Bob Music, at Sony ATV Publishing and in the studio with Steve Earle as well as performing and recording an EP with guitarist George Marinelli (Bonnie Raitt). Now a Mother of two little boys and again living in New York with Madi Diaz, Brandi Carlile, Allison Russell, and YEBBA on her stereo, Lauren's journey has been far from just musical; her life has given her a rich and varied tapestry of experiences from which to draw as a songwriter. A transformative journey that has given her confidence and power, Lauren's artistry and songwriting skills were rekindled when she became a mother. This process changed her perception of the world and herself and brought her back to music and the spiritual therapy of creativity.
Goosebumps. We've all had them: A thunder clap breaks the silence in a rain storm; you rush out the door without a coat and are struck by the cold; a serendipitous experience of awe is shared with another. Funny how such a small reaction like goosebumps can transcend a moment and change your perspective. What good can come from being awestruck? Join us as Pastor Tony continues his sermon series: “The Webb Telescope and God.” Today, he focuses on the future. It's easy in a world teaming with problems and divisiveness to isolate yourself from others and walk through life focusing only on yourself. But when you experience a sense of "awe", you diminish one's self and expand your perspective to see how interconnected you are with others. Christianity too can be myopic. Listen and discover how you can experience awe more frequently in your life, and expand what it means to be a Christian. See how BIG your Christianity can be and that hope doesn't have to be limited to a new heaven. It can happen right here, right now. Certainty. If you're searching for certainty in life, keep a closed mind. It's safe. It's comfortable, and you'll never be exposed to new ideas. Religion can provide certainty for you, especially when it comes to your belief about God. And the Bible, taken literally or not, can be a filter for the uncertain. But could there be a new way of understanding God that you miss by living in certainty? Join us today as Pastor Tony continues his sermon series: “The Webb Telescope and God.” Discover the impact that science and technology has had historically on the ancients' understanding of God and our proclivity to keep the God of the old worldview. Given the undeniable vastness and mystery of the universe as seen through the images of the Webb Telescope, ask yourself, how much do you value certainty? Or can you instead embrace a universe and God of mystery? Recorded live at Beatitudes Church in Phoenix, AZ on 08/21/22 Preaching: Rev. It's pretty amazing when you think about it. NASA's Webb Space Telescope has delivered the deepest and sharpest infrared image of the distant universe to date. Its ability to magnify distant galaxies inside an image the size of a grain of sand is at once spectacular and humbling. What is our place in the cosmos really that we should be so bold as to think we're significant? Or that it was made exclusively for us? Listen today as Pastor Tony explores the historical dichotomy that has always existed between our earthly perspective and the vastness of the cosmos. The writers of ancient scripture, as in the Psalms, speak with the same awe and wonder of the celestial bodies as we do from our 21st century technologically-advanced perspective. What other collection of atoms can say this? It's what we do with this information that really counts and ultimately determines our significance. People are dealing with sexual guilt and we don't talk about it. Religion has set us up for it. When it comes to premarital sex, religion has forgotten that biology always wins. Take a look at society and culture today, marriage is more and more often being postponed to a person's mid 30's. If sex is to be reserved for marriage, how does a person navigate the sexual impulses that are a biological reality? Join us today as Pastor Tony continues his new sermon series: “Does the Bible do sex?” This week, he focuses on “Sex and Guilt.” Sexual guilt perpetuates and fosters dysfunction for countless numbers of couples. The church is amenable to talking about the ills of society (injustice, poverty, racism, etc.), but not this issue. Why? Listen and discover how we, the church, can raise the sexual ethic and overcome the stigma of talking frankly and honestly about human sexuality. There is a different way to experience religion, and in particular Christianity, when we commit to focusing on the values and principles of love. Recorded live at Beatitudes Church in Phoenix, AZ on 08/07/22 Preaching: Rev. You are not born with the emotion of shame. It is external, and it is acquired. You are taught shame. When it comes to our sexuality, Western culture leverages sexual shame for control and conformity. Our laws continue to reproach sexuality not biblically mandated, and sex education in our schools is clinical and lacks meaningful discussion and dialogue. Yet we are sexual beings. So, how did we get here and when did sexual shaming originate? Is religion to blame? Join us today as Pastor Tony continues his new sermon series: “Does the Bible do sex?” This week, he focuses on “Sex and Shame.” Ironically, nowhere in the Bible does the notion of sexual shaming occur, rather sex is praised as a gift from God. Listen and discover how you can have healthy and meaningful conversations about sex without the shame when you start from the exact same place as the Bible, a place of love. Recorded live at Beatitudes Church in Phoenix, AZ on 07/31/22 Preaching: Rev. Every 35 seconds a divorce is finalized in America. Marriage rates today continue to decline to historic lows, and the institution of marriage seems inconsequential for younger adults. Is the centuries-old stigma of divorce still impactful? How does being a Christian influence our view of divorce? Join us today as Pastor Tony continues his new sermon series: “Does the Bible do sex?” This week, he focuses on “Marriage and Divorce,” and what the Bible does and does not say about it. Exploring the inconsistencies found throughout the Bible concerning divorce, discover how we can look beyond the authoritative and antiquated power of scripture and evolve our ideology and beliefs to fit a modern 21st century perspective. Fresh off the release of her second overall single titled “Last Generation”, we got the wonderful opportunity to sit and speak with the artist behind the music, Lauren Minear. Raised in Nashville but now based out of New York, Lauren Minear has just shared a seriously heartfelt and meaningful new song called “Last Generation”. Co-written by Lauren and Cristal Barrera, with help on the production from The Online Recording Studio, the final result of this song has turned into this atmospheric and slightly minimalistic listen, with a real emphasis on the lyricism. We got into it with Lauren on the background of the song and sincerely can't wait for everyone to enjoy our discussion. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/wewriteaboutmusic/support
