In this episode, Jonathan and Devon chat with composer Robin Hiley & writer Becky Hope-Palmer about their musical "LIFELINE" currently running off-Broadway. LIFELINE tells the story of Scottish scientist Alexander Fleming's world-changing discovery of penicillin in 1928, charting the rise and fall of antibiotics. Fleming's historic story is interwoven with Jess', a present day doctor whose childhood sweetheart, Aaron, is recovering from cancer treatment, almost 100 years after antibiotics were discovered. But just as Aaron is desperate to resume normality and rekindle the romance, his life hangs in the balance, as he waits to see if Fleming's miracle cure will still work well enough to save him. The musical is a two-time Edinburgh Festival Fringe sell-out (2018 and 2022). It has toured to London, Glasgow and the east coast of the USA (2022). It has also been showcased at the UK Houses of Parliament and in Barbados for Prime Minister Mia Mottley. Previously entitled The Mould that Changed the World, the show underwent significant re-development in 2023 to incorporate numerous modern day patient stories that the producers had collected from around the world. More info available at LIFELINE The Musical (lifelinemusical.com) Guests - Robin Hiley & Becky Hope-Palmer Robin Hiley was a founding partner of Charades Theatre Company upon the company's inception in 2010. In 2017 he took the company forward as Artistic Director & CEO, overseeing its transition to a Scottish Incorporated Charitable Organisation and establishing partnerships and collaborations with major national and international organisations. As a composer, and lyricist Robin is passionate about writing and creating musical theatre that tackles pertinent social issues and also gives opportunities for the community to get involved in performing. Developing LIFELINE has been a signifcant focus for Robin over the past 6 years, immensely enjoying collaborating with writing partners Becky Hope-Palmer (book writer), his long-time friend and songwriting partner James Ross, as well as the rest of the creative team. Robin holds an undergraduate degree in music from Newcastle University and a MSc in enthnomusicology from the University of Edinburgh. Hey! How are you guys doing? We hope you're well. Certainly better than Bruce Forsyth, who isn't doing very well, because he's dead. However, old Brucie loved a bonus so he did, and we do too, so join us for The Dogger Saints Podcast: The Lock-In 3! This Lock-In (or as Dan, wrongly, kept calling it a ‘Lockdown') comes to you from Perth Theatre, and more specifically the workshop we were kindly asked to hold in support of the upcoming ‘Oh When The Saints Go Marching In Play'. A little bit different for us, but if you fancy some live features, Dan dropping a mic, and us catching up with our old friend Katie, the shows co-director Martin and Saints fanatic Gordon, the you might just enjoy this. Episode 41 of Dogger Saints: An Unofficial St. Johnstone Podcast, A.K.A Dogger Saints Team Talk Live from Perth Theatre! Yep, for some reason they not only let us do this, they actually asked us to do it, and did it we did on 12th November. So sit back, get yourself comfy, and listen back to a very special night for us. We really hope you enjoy this. Get there! DISCLAIMER: A parental guidance warning for you, there is a fair amount of swearing and adult themes crop up throughout this episode. I mean, there's a very short intro in which Dan says “fuck” four times. So whilst it's up to you, we're just giving you fair warning. Thanks, love you, bye.

Of all the things, ALL THE THINGS, that could stop us in our tracks in our 33 episodes so far, the world's largest social media group crashing and stopping us doing interviews was not one that we foresaw. However, Twitter's better anyway and it was never going to stop us for long, so 24 hours later than planned, please join Sam and Dan for Episode 33 of Dogger Saints: An Unofficial St. Johnstone Podcast! We round up all the Saints action from this week, including Saturday's glorious victory over our good pals, admirers, and apparently purveyors of total football from up the road, Dundee. and also take a look at the Saints to leave the club, albeit temporarily, in the past week. We also have a hugely entertaining and interesting catch-up with former Saints defender, present football media man on the Emerald Isle, and all-round smashing guy Graham Gartland as we discuss his time in Perth, scoring in the top-flight, friendships at the club and dolphins. Features? We know you love ‘em. You know we love ‘em. So let's have some! This weeks trip to The Royal sees a vexed Scottish Cup winner in Singapore, a trip to Old Trafford for some styling tips in the Club Shop of Shame, the letter J is decided in the Alphabet There, and Theme Team inevitably takes us to the 90s, because we do bloody love the 90s! You may not think we have time for more, but baby you couldn't be more wrong, as we catch-up with our pal Katie Mitchell from Perth Theatre to discuss the upcoming Team Talk series of events (and we will admit especially our night) and we also swoon over Liam Craig for 2 hours. With all this, and much more, you'd be mad to miss this! Get there! Once again thanks to our friends at Flonix for sponsoring this episode even in the midst of numerous conference calls with Mark Zuckerberg.

Although the core principle behind Persistent and Nasty is about the female-identified voice, we are committed to an intersectional approach and aim to use the space we’ve created to provide a platform for the spectrum of marginalised voices in our culture. Through a series of script readings and accompanying digital content, we are creating a platform for the unrepresented voices in the stage and screen industry; women, minorities, trans and LGBTQIA+. Our goal is to create a project that is safe and supportive, but that is also an act of protest. Persistent and Nasty is about changing the cultural narrative through the stories we tell. It is a co-presentation with live-arts production house Civil Disobedience. Civil Disobedience was formed in 2016, with a mandate to offer an international platform for talented artists in cabaret, theatre, comedy, music, and storytelling.
