Today on Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson, we're discussing current events, starting with the Department of Defense's rebrand to the “Department of War.” I don't like this one bit. We should not be glorifying war, especially when President Trump has always said he would be the president of peace and is even nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. Why would we agitate our enemies for no reason and slap a shiny label on it as if that's something to celebrate? It's weird and concerning. We'll also be covering the latest on the Epstein list and what's being uncovered.--https://policecoffee.com/collections/coffee

In this episode I dive deep with the incredible visionary artist and podcaster Alex Coma.  Our conversation is an incredible discussion about spiritual practice, astrology, and the synchronicities to help guide us on the path of expanding our consciousness.  --------------------------Alex Coma is an interdisciplinary artist exploring the complex intersections between symbolism, consciousness, and esoteric knowledge. A graduate in photography from Concordia University and former scholarship recipient at the Montreal Fine Arts Academy, Coma's practice draws on figures like Arnold Böcklin and Carl Jung. His work navigates between visual art, philosophical investigation, and spiritual exploration, deploying a rigorous methodology that questions symbolic systems, cryptographic elements, and ritual methodologies. For the past decade, Coma has studied under Egyptian spiritual teacher Shri Amir Mourad, developing meditative techniques that enable deeper access to unconscious realms and inform his artistic practice—a disciplined inner exploration that has become instrumental in his ability to perceive increasingly more profound symbolic content and archetypal energies. His works, exhibited internationally at venues including the Visionary Art Collective in New York, the Affordable Art Fair in London and Brussels, and recognized in collections such as Colart and Ubisoft, have been acclaimed by media including CBC Arts, Vie des Arts, and La Presse. In 2023, Coma founded Roze Umbra, an initiative and platform dedicated to visionary artists, extending his commitment to collaborative artistic research that examines the subtle connections between symbolic languages and collective consciousness. As part of this initiative, he created "The Blue Hour Podcast," where he engages with visionary artists worldwide. His approach to all he does is constantly seeking a delicate balance between empirical knowledge and the ineffable mystery, offers an exploration of the borderlands of artistic creation.Websites:  www.alexcoma.worldVisionary Roze Grant: www.rozeumbra.com/visionaryrozegrantInstagram:@alexcoma.world@rozeumbraFollow Martin Benson for more insights:*To stay updated on the podcast and related content, check out my Instagram*To support the show and access exclusive content, consider subscribing for $0.99/month on Instagram (link above).Credits: Special thanks to Matthew Blankenship of The Sometimes Island for our podcast theme music!Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/martin-l-benson/support

Please forward this to ONE friend today and tell them to subscribe here.In this episode, I'm speaking with Anam Zakaria and Haroon Khalid of Qissa, one of the most interesting immigrant storytelling platforms I have come across in recent months.Qissa's flagship project, "Driving Canada," started as casual conversations with Uber drivers as Anam and Haroon navigated doctors appointments, daycare, and all the stuff new parents have to deal with. Almost all the drivers were immigrants. Almost all were overqualified. Almost all had stories about the systemic barriers that shoved them into the gig economy. The shitty thing about all this is you sometimes see people term this struggle as a "rite of passage." We call it resilience. And instead of pushing for policy changes that fix the system, we celebrate the immigrants ability to survive it. With no care for its toll on the individuals, their loved ones, their community, and Canada. In this conversation, Anam, Haroon, and I explore the cost of resilience. We also chat about:* Why most immigrant settlement programs serve yesterday's immigrants, not today's* Why we need to fix the system instead of glorifying the struggle* Launching Qissa* The power of storiesOfficial Links✅ Connect with Anam Zakaria on LinkedIn✅ Connect with Haroon Khalid on LinkedIn✅ Read the Driving Canada ReportOne AskIf you found this story helpful, please forward or share it to one immigrant out there.Join us as we explore the bittersweet world of the immigrant. Their group played a popular musical genre known as "narcocorridos" or "corridos tumbados" – songs that glorify drug cartels. After a string of controversial concerts, this type of music has become the subject of heated debate in Mexico. The government is trying to curb the influence of songs that praise cartel bosses. Meanwhile, "narcocorridos" performers are complaining of censorship. FRANCE 24's Quentin Duval, Laurence Cuvillier and Ed Augustin report.

Acts 13:44-52 44 The next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. 45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him. 46 And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. 47 For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles,     that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'” 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.49 And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region. 50 But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. 51 But they shook off the dust from their feet against them and went to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Key Words: Jews, Crowds, Boldly, Necessary, Light, Gentiles, Glorifying, Dust Keystone Verse: I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth. Those past relationships that seem to have a special place in your heart, anyone come to mind? I know putting someone who's no longer in your life into a special place can feel warm and fuzzy, but is it just an escape? When we aren't finding meaning in the present, we often escape—imagining an ex was "the one who got away" or reminiscing about "better times" that weren't actually better. Who were you back then? In reality, yes reality. What was the meaning of the relationship that ended at the time? Believe me, you're not missing out on some magical connection—you're feeling a void in the present. Meaning can be found here in the present, real meaning not a fantasized version of the past. In this episode, Tracy explores: * Glorifying past relationships–why do we do it? * What is truth vs reality? * Why do you want to detach from idealized memories? The importance of fulfilling meaning for yourself. "It feels so much better to be yourself and to be here in the moment and creating the life that you actually want, than it does to be in the past." ~ Tracy Crossley
